Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Seller is listing this as a MB/CJ2. However, it looks like this has a GPW body and some military running gear.
“This is a 1948 Jeep/Willys MB/CJ2. As a WWII jeep, at the end of the war these were sold to civilians as a CJ2. As is common in these years, this one has MB parts (military) and CJ2 parts (civilian) as they used all the parts to put these in production. This has the L134 flathead-Go Devil-engine. The engine runs! You can hear it run when you come look at it. I had inquiries so I checked; I drove this jeep. It appears the tranny, etc is fine. I drove it around, however, it has no brakes (brake cylinder is dry). Floorboards are solid. No rust through.
This would be a good project. That was my intention, but other projects took priority. The body has bondo covering it. The “patches” (seen in the photos) are places where the thick bondo has flaked off. The metal underneath is in pretty good shape.
This has a working PTO winch, 4 hi, 4 low, etc. It’s a project, but it has good potential. Two extra military seats and gas tank go with it (not sure what they’re from). Engine has been converted to 12 volt system.”

“I have a very rare hard to find original ford script tub jeep. Ford was only able to brand their tub for a few months in 1942 before the government made them stop. There are very few of these original jeeps still around. I have a 134L engine for extra money. It comes with transmission and transfer case. Someone started putting power steering in it. No seats. This is a great jeep and has matching frame and body. The engine was a World War II era replacement. This is a great piece of history and has been a joy to own.

(04/14/2016) Steve forwarded this one. I wouldn’t say it is a “great” candidate for restoration; more accurate to say it is badly in need of restoration.
“I have a all orginal 43 Willys gpw. 9 slot grille, with solid tailgate. Jeep was pulled from a collapsed barn in upstate pa.
The bad: Engine is either locked it the trans, because rear axel will not spin..
Also it was hit on the front driver side so the grille and fenders are bent but can be repaired.
The good: it’s a great candidate for a restoration as it’s almost complete minus the seats.
It has the body tags and data plates so acuiring at title would not be hard.”

“Hello, I have a 1944 military jeep with a title ready for someone to finish. It comes with all the parts pictured, as well as a new carb and the two front seat frames. Tires are excellent. “Very good condition with original four cylinder engine that is strong and fast. Rebuilt carburetor, new gas tank, exhaust system, completely rebuilt brake system and new tires and tubes. This is a WWII Jeep with a fiberglass tub and hood. The underside is solid with an excellent frame. “1942 Ford Military Jeep. This jeep was purchased by my family right after World War II. We have owned it for over 70 years. It has a flat head Ford 4 cylinder. The Jeep has always resided in Central California. It runs but will need the brakes to be looked at. The brakes worked fine but the Jeep sat for a few years and now they are not working. Should be something simple. It is all original and has minor surface rust. My plan was to restore it but life has changed and I want it to go to someone who will restore it and get some good use out of it such as military parades or whatever interests the jeep brings. “WWII US Army Ford GPW Jeep. Data plate and frame match 6-2-43 serial number 113685. Frame is solid with no rust out, horns are rough but salvageable, the pintle brace has also been cut off, motor mounts and tranny/transfer mounts are intact. No running gear other than the front and rear axles which are also Ford. No grill, Tub will need a new floor dash only has one small extra hole drilled in it, glove box is intact. Hood and fenders are solid, they have a few dents, but no rust out.”

“Selling my 1944 Ford GPW military jeep. It is in good condition – runs and drives, few cosmetic rust spots but metal is pretty good for most part. Several hundred dollars recently put into the jeep for tune-up and other odds and ends after a significant amount of time & money getting it running nearly ~15 years ago (new brakes, shocks, rubber, carb work, etc). Needs brake lines and fuel cell. Can be used as is for work or play, upgraded for a road worthy driver, or restored. $2500 OBO.”

“VIN stamped & plated by CHP. Registration is current. Clean title. Jeep was driven to its current location and has been non op’d and not driven for the past years. It has been garage kept and is clean.
A new fuel tank was purchased and installed in 2013 due along with a new battery. The jeep runs and is drivable but 2 tires no longer hold air. The jeep needs a set of new tires. It’s been primered and is ready for paint.
I no longer have the canvas top pieces.
Restoration was started years ago and left un finished. The engine has been disassembled, sand blasted and reassembled. It is very clean under the hood. THIS JEEP IS WAITING AND READY TO BE RESTORED TO IT’S FORMER GLORY.”
