There’s a lot going on here. It appears to be an M-38A1 body that sits on a non M-38A1 frame. That may have a CJ-3B hood grafted onto an M-38A1 hood?

“FFrom what I can find out this is a rare USMC 1962 USMC Radio Jeep
Serial # 87509 DoD 8/62
1 of only 500 M38A1 Jeeps made for the Marines in 1962, I don’t know how many Radio Jeeps there were.
This one saw service as a Volunteer Fire Department Vehicle in South Carolina.
Pretty sure it was converted to 12 volts at that time.
Body is Rusty to say the least.
All of the Dash Data Plates are in tack, as well as the Radio instruments and switches.
The good part is that these Jeeps were under coated, so the frame is in really in good condition
And another plus on these Jeeps is that they were ordered with limited slip front and rear differentials.
You will not find that on any other M38A1’s.
That alone is worth the low reserve price.
I put a Battery in it, and it turns over freely
Oil looks good, radiator holds water
19345 miles on Odometer
16 X 7.50 Tires are in decent shape with no dry rot
Part it out fix it up, your choice
I do have a Transferable South Carolina Title”

“1952 Willy’s M38a1, 4cyl manual trans. Runs drives and stops. 4wd works. One year only Original military jeep.(hinged front grill 24v water proof electrical) Has been converted from 24 volt to 12 volt. New battery, new front drive shaft. New tires. New coil, fuel pump, points, wires. Professionally rebuilt carb, new aluminum fuel lines and filters. Old block heater works, doesn’t get hot. Has heater not wired up though. Original seats and brackets. Lights work, brake lights work, no turn signals. Manual choke. Runs like a top. All fluids changed. All joints greased. Great little cabin cruiser or ranch wagon. “Nice original Willy’s , this M38 belonged to the Bowman field civil air patrol until about 1983 , all new correct brakes , hoses and lines , still 24 volt but has been converted to an alternator , radiator rebuilt , water pump , runs and drives good . Body is very good original condition .”

UPDATE: I’ve updated the information on this. John’s looking for someone who appreciate this pretty stock M-38A1 that John uses on a daily basis. It’s named “JW” for his uncle JW, who taught John how to drive in an MB many years ago.

Everything is original.
After it’s military service, the jeep was painted white and used as a civil defense vehicle, Then, it was painted olive drab and used as a prop in the movie Selma. I purchased it after that.”

TJ spotted this project. Given the winch, and the price, this running jeep may be worth a look. Can’t tell what condition the body is in due to snow.
