“Parting out 1955 m38a1 many of the parts have less than 2000 mile on them.

Jordan spotted this combo for sale. It includes a dual PTO. Seller mistakes the 2A for an M-38A1.

“* have a 1955 Jeep Willy wagon, in a 1955 Jeep cj2. I am selling them both of them as a package deal or separate. I am asking $3,200. Both Jeeps have original Transmissions. The Jeep cj2 no engine but original transmission with PTO. The Willys wagon original transmission with a 273 Chrysler Barracuda engine out of a 67. The 273 cranks over I haven’t had time yet to fiddle with the starter cuz it is dragging, I am told that it will start and run. Both of them are projects, could be a wonderful Father and Son project together. Have any questions message me”
This M-38A1 used to belong to the San Juan County Sheriff’s office.

“This M38A1 was owned by the San Juan County Sheriffs dept in Silverton CO for 35+ years,is part of our high mountain Colorado history. It was bought by a local in 2001 and remained in Silverton until now. I’ve watched this rig for the past 11 years and recently got my hands on it. With a family of 4, 3 dogs and a brand new house I dont know what the Hades I was thinking but at the time I had to have it. I have owned a lot of military Jeeps in the past, have had many M38A1s and know a good one when I see it.
This rig has a very nice Kelly hard top, converted to 12 volt, has the wrong seats in it but otherwise is very original and complete. There are very few “extra” holes, nothing has been hacked or cut up, body, floors, etc are extremely straight, rust free and would make an excellent restoration base or drive it as is. There is a matching spare wheel and military gas can in the back. The tool box floor is perfect as is the glove box floor. This Jeep has no real rust, is surface only, the mud is my fault, I live on a dirt road (see underside photos) The engine starts right up, no smoke, sounds good, brakes are good, shifts tight etc as you would expect with 8K miles.”
Doesn’t run.

“I am moving & selling my Willys M38A1 projects. There are 2 titles & enough parts to build 2 rigs & extra parts left over. 3 frames, extra axles, transmissions, transfer cases, fuel tanks, 3 windshields, seats, 2 roll bars, etc. One of the Willys is in the middle of being rebuilt & will roll around. It has tires on it & has been lifted & the frame has been boxed & it is set up with an adapter to put a small block Chevy in it. The body has been media blasted, but was never primered & has been stored outside for the past few years so it has surface rust on it. The other one is completely disassembled. Only selling because of the move”
I found this M-38A1 Installation Instructions Conversion Power Plant Heater Kit 32 page manual on eBay. It seems a well done and detailed look at how to install the heater kit. Hopefully, someone can use the information.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500.
Appears to include an NOS axle in a crate.
“Lots of 24V parts for an M38A1. Restoring my 1962 M38A1 and converted it to 12v and have lots of parts that I no longer need. Also many non-electrical parts as well. Starters, fuel pumps, generator w/regulator and harness, distributor w/ spark plug wires and plugs, gas heater for inside heat, rear axle housing and parts, headlights, radiator for M151, wiper motor, fuel tank, etc. Contact for complete list of items. All parts usable as far as I know. Items to be sold as one lot, as is. Will consider trade for M100/M416 trailer in good shape.”
Starting bid is $3999. It runs and drives.

“1952 Willys M38A1 4X4
This is a true military Jeep.
It starts, runs, shifts, drives, and stops as it should. It starts easy enough with pre pumping the gas, and using the manual choke. It runs good. I haven’t noticed any problems with the 3 speed manual transmission or transfer case. I don’t think it has brake lights or turn signals. Some original equipment exists like the light switch panel but I don’t think any work. The headlights and taillights function at some level, they do turn on.
Some of the electrical system has been converted to 12v from typical military 48v, battery, alternator, starter, headlights. The oil volt and temp gauges function. Not the fuel tho, my granddad used a paint stir stick on his so… The brakes are typical for non-power front drum setups. They could use an inspection but operate.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500.
The eBay buy-it-now price of $6500 looks like a good price. Could be a USMC jeep.
“This 1953 M38A1 is in good condition considering its age, starts easily, and the engine runs well. If you are a collector, restorer, or just someone who loves fun vehicles, this is a rare gem and a great island toy and should not be missed!
This vehicle was purchased in 2005 fully restored. It includes all of the cool features of the M38A1 such as the 24 volt electrical system, the blackout lights, foot starter switch, 3 speed transmission with low/high transfer, rear mounted gas can, and more.
UPDATE **SOLD** Was NO Price.
No pics of the 2A.
“Have a willys MB , Cj2a,M38A1 plus axles , trans , springs , misc parts”
MB:
This one had me scratching my head. First, it lacks a battery box lid on the cowl, so I thought it might be a CJ body, yet it also lacks “Jeep” on the sides, so probably not a CJ-5 body. The rear bumper suggests it is the USMC variant of the M-38A1. I”m guessing the body has been rebuilt.

“This is an original press photo. Davy Crockett, Front Line Atomic Weapon on Jeep. Davy Crockett, the latest front line atomic weapon developed for infantry troops, can be carried by a crew of three or transported easily by Jeep. A recoilless rifle, the David Crockett is a short range weapon capable of lobbing a conventional or atomic warhead into nearby enemy positions. U.S. Army. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 06-12-1960. ”

“I have a 1957 and a 1942 cj2a willys Jeep for sale. Both were running when parked. The 42 has a bent frame that can be fixed or swap the whole thing to another frame. All the body is still solid and fairly straight. The 57 has been sitting up longer. The brakes are locked up and it’s in a little rougher shape. Both have been parked under a tree collecting leaves.”
This could be a good price.

“This Korean War Era Jeep is in excellent restored condition. One piece windshield. Flat front.
Extensive restoration on the drive-train: seals, bearings, front and rear differentials, transmission, transfer case, brakes and military PTO are all in 1st class condition. Engine runs well. Starter rebuilt.
New canvas top and plastic side windows. New authentic seat covers. No rust on frame or body.

Given the trailer, this might be worth a look. No description provided.

This sure looks in good shape. If it could be rigged up to shoot t-shirts that would be fun!
“1953 willys 4×4 M38A1C. 106m Recoilless rifle. Demilitarized 106MM AND 50 CAL.”
UPDATE: **SOLD**
There are a couple M-38A1s, an M-38A1s chassis, a CJ-2A, and an M-151. Auction is Sept 7th, 2019.
Seller calls this a “Ford”, it might be a Ford-built Canadian M-38A1CDN. The grille is probably from a CJ-5.
