UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2000
This is an ex-racer with lots of mods. It needs additional work.
“1948 Willys Jeep CJ2-A w/ turbo charged 3.8 Buick V-6 $2000 obo
* Stretched body
* Jeepster Commando frame (101″ wheelbase)
* 231 ci Buick even fire V-6 with factory turbocharger (from 1978 Buick LeSabre)
* Turbo 400 tranny mated to model 20 transfer case
* Power steering
* Rear mounted radiator
* Full 6 point frame mounted roll cage
* Full size running gear
* 5.38 gears
* B&M quick click shifter
* 1 piece fiberglass front end
I’ve probably forgotten a lot of stuff, but you get the drift. This is a Jeep that was used for years at local races running a Pinto motor. I broke the old tranny and opted to install the V-6 and automatic, but the local races kind of went away and I never finished it and it has sat in my shop for 10 plus years. This is not a street legal vehicle, although I suppose one could make it that way with work. It is not a turn key ride and definitely does need some work to complete. The motor smokes, but I believe that it is just the seals in the turbo causing this. It needs shock mounts welded, brakes redone, seat covers are looking ratty, shifter needs some adjustment, carb may have issue. . . and I’m sure there is more that I’m not thinking of. Would make a good base for a rock crawler, tough truck rig or just a toy to blow away your friends. I hate to get rid of it but need the space in my shop. Might be willing to deliver within the Treasure Valley.”
UPDATE: Was $12,999. **SOLD**

“42 willys flat fender Jeep has Dana 25 f Detroit locker, Dana 44 r locright locker, Dana 20 Transfer case, T 90 Transmission, 2300 ford motor bored 60 over, and Saginaw steering box.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8950
“This Jeep is the best of both worlds. We have enjoyed running in the dunes all weekend, letting the kids drive it all over. Then turn the bottle on and run 4.70’s at the sand drags. The Jeep has ran as fast as 4.68 at 69 mph. The drive train is a mild small block 400 which runs on pump gas, with a Mikes 400 trans w/brake and a 9″ Ford rearend with a spool. The nitrous set up is NOS which is right now set a about 150 hp. The nitrous has safety fuel pressure shut off to protect against damaged do to loss of fuel pressure. The electronics are MSD 6AL box, MSD Pro Billet distributor, MSD Pro blaster coil and a MSD 2 step box. The fuel system is a Holley Fuel pump with adjustable fuel pressure regulator and Holley carburetor. The Jeep has been remarkably reliable and consistent.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4500.
(05/24/2013) I think I’ve seen this one for sale. The way the body sits looks familiar.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3750
(12/29/2013) This is worth a look if someone wants to get into PNW racing.
“All metal body on a custom shortened Blazer chassis, 99″ wheelbase, done right. Motor is a radical 355 SBC, too much to list. Trans is a fresh T-350, 3000 stall. Transfer case is a Dana #20 twin stick with a Advance adapter. Have title and collector plate. Will need lights to be street legal. Unlimited potential here! $3750.00 Will consider selling without motor and or trans/transfer case”
I just ran across this video of Cam Carter racing the family race jeep Priority. His parents, Tim and Lynette, are friends of mine and were great drivers (probably still are). The video shows Cam is channeling their skills. Tim is in the passenger seat providing occasional advice. It looks like they are running a cross country course at the Monroe Adventure Park.
Priority is a fiberglass Parkette body with a custom link arm suspension. I rode in the jeep on an early version of the suspension a few years ago, but Tim made some changes to it that improved it quite a bit I’m told. It’s powered by an aluminum V8 with about a trillion horse power that feed in a Ford Toploader four speed that used to be in dad’s CJ-5.
Dad had a side shifter installed when he owned the tranny. First and reverse gear were so close. I was learning to drive it on the road when, after stopping at a stoplight during a training drive, I mistakenly put the tranny into reverse rather than first. I nearly backed into the person behind me when I let out the clutch. Dad was in the passenger seat and was pretty rattled by my near mistake (as was I). Fortunately, I had a good grasp of how to use the brake, which averted an embarrassing wreck 🙂
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $21,000

Damian wrote to tell me that a favorite drag jeep of mine, Rapid Transit, is racing under a new owner and a new power train. It looks like it uses a Bobcat hood and (likely) body.
He writes, “believe it or not this jeep is still around in the cleves, ohio area and races regularly, but it is now a center seater 2wd and has a small block chevy, i race with the current owner and also do photography.”
You can view Damian’s photos on Facebook. Below is a comparison between the old and new racer.
