No updates tonight other than this one.
We made it to Seattle a couple days ago. I made some more progress blasting some smaller parts yesterday. In order to blast the t-handle parking brake, I had to disassemble it. The last thing to remove was a screw/pin so I could remove the brake lever from its housing. I didn’t know whether to unscrew or press out the screw/pin, but as I examined iI felt pretty sure it should press out. Still, I thought it best to text a friend: Chris McKay. He said he thought it was pressed out, too. So, I set out to remove the pin.
Here is what the brake looks like assembled.

I grabbed a small socket to catch the pin and an object that could press through the hole:

“Manufactured in 1944 and decommissioned in 46′ for civilian use. Manual 3 speed long throw shift. Beautiful body with a non-stock rag-top and vinyl door set. 4 wheel drive locking hubcaps on the front tires with high/low settings. Runs great and has no problem reaching max. speed posted on plaque on dash. Fun to off road in. Immaculate and almost entirely original. Vacuum window wiper motors, original army rucksack seats, original wooden carry-on tool box, back bench equip but not mounted for fear of ruining genuine body.

“Neat project for somebody. Old CJ-5 was used in an orchard for years, so it has dings and dents. Missing passenger seat and windshield frame, has NOT run in years but it turns over fine. Pretty rare to find a Jeep project this old with original paint and all five original wheels. Still has the F head 4 cyl. and the floors & tub seem very solid.”

Hasn’t been driven in a while.
“1961 Jeep FC-150, VIN: 6554822024. Last driven in 2002, Been stored inside since. Last started Feb 15, 2017. Ran for less than one minute, needs some wiring replaced prior to starting again. Radiator needs replaced. Original parts manual included. Some rust on cab corners, rest of vehicle and frame appears in good shape. This will make an easy restoration project for any vehicle enthusiast. Selling because I have too many projects to complete.”
