in ‘Willys’ Jeeps Over Five Day, 1,500 Mile Adventure —
PASCO, WASHINGTON– February 03, 2017– This July, to celebrate its 75th anniversary, a group of travelers from across the United States and Canada will drive the entire Alaska Highway in vintage Jeeps. The trip, dubbed ‘Alaska Or Rust,’ will span five days and cover the nearly 1,500 miles between the famed highway’s start in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, and the end at Fairbank, AlaskaA
The group will launch as three separate caravans: one from the East Coast, led by Bill Reiss, one from the Midwest, led by Scott Gilbert, and one from the West Coast, led by David Eilers. On their way to Dawson Creek, each caravan will make scheduled stops where additional travelers can join. Upon arrival at the highway’s entrance, the three groups will merge and convoy together throughout the whole of the Alaska Highway.
“The beauty of this trip is that it isn’t the high-speed, air-conditioned affair that’s become so common on the Alaska Highway,” said Bill Reiss, another of the trip’s organizers. “We’re driving our old, beloved Jeeps—models from the 40s, 50s and 60s—and by doing so, we’re paying homage to the rugged and beautiful story of both the Jeep brand and the Alaska Highway. It’s an adventure for us and a tribute to some incredible history.”
The ‘Alaska or Rust’ caravan has already attracted attention from sponsors like JP Magazine, a favorite periodical of vintage Jeep lovers, which will send a contributor, Traci Clark, to document the journey. Two sponsors have already joined the effort, Allied Jeeps and Overland Diesel. Additional sponsors will be announced shortly.
Fans are encouraged to join the adventure by following the group’s Website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts, which will update as connectivity allows. Additionally, a daily trip recap will be posted on organizer Dave Eilers’ trade publication, eWillys.com.

About the Alaskan Highway:
The Alaska Highway was constructed during World War II for the purpose of connecting the contiguous United States to Alaska across Canada. It begins at the junction with several Canadian highways in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, and runs to Delta Junction, Alaska, via Whitehorse, Yukon. Completed in 1942 at a length of nearly 1,500 miles long, the highway was opened to the public in 1948. Legendary for being a rough, challenging drive, the highway proved perfect for showing off the capabilities of early military Jeeps.

Craig spotted this ad. It has some type of “garage door rear door”. We aren’t sure if this means a roll up door or a swing up door. Anyone have ideas on this?
“1963 jeep, motor is free and turns by hand. Ran when parked. My wife road in it as a child, we bought it hoping to clean it up some but have not had the time or extra money to do it. Need some body work and what ever it takes to get it running again. Has a hard top on it with a garage type rear door. Rear seats face inward. We also have a spare frame, windshield, and other miscellaneous stuff to go with it. $2000 or best offer. I am told it started life as a forest ranger jeep in the Adirondacks.”

“1948 willys stock drivetrain with a 1959 Anglia escort body. Car sat for a very long time. Story is two long for this listing but could tell it if need be. It needs lots of tlc. It runs and drives and has great potential for someone with time money and a place to work on it as it is still a project. put in plugs, pts, cap, rotor, new master cylinder, some tires and wheels. “This is an original vintage press photo. Thirteen new jeeps with snowplows attached have arrived for delivery to the Milwaukee’s Department of Public Works. They will be used in winter for fulfilling city contracts for sidewalk plowing. They can also be used with lawn mower attachments. The fleet will be added to similar equipment already on hand. Future purchase of more is under consideration. George Renno, 1350 South 98th Street, town of Wauwatosa, a passer-by, looked over the vehicles at Greenfield Motor Sales, 9800 West Greenfield Avenue, town of Wauwatosa. The jeeps cost $2,087 each. “Very nice and original jeepster. Original dauntless v6 engine with 3 speed tranny. 4wd. Absolutely no rust Arizona history and a very straight accident free body. Runs and drives good . Doesn’t smoke. Fan motor and heat works well. Wipers work on both speeds. All lights work. All glass is good. 4 matching Kumho tires in good shape. 1/2 cab is removable making truck a convertible. Comes with a canoe / ladder rack and a spare tire. Also has the original seat for the cab and a seat for the bed. Excellent tow vehicle behind motor home or very fun driver for these nice fall days and gets complements every time I drive it. ”

“1944 Willys Jeep Does Not Run, The Old Warn overdrive unit went out 2yrs ago. The Boss 302 Mustang Cobra engine was solid when overdrive unit went. Has a T18 Transfer case, Dana Adaptor, and Transmission. It has been sitting covered for 2yrs. Body is in good shape( some rust),33″ Tires, Pintle hitch, winch, bucket seats, Bikini top and doors. The trailer is a unique oddity, 2 Willys jeeps welded together. I was in the process of restoring, decided to sell, has surface rust. You will not find another trailer like it. No trades, cash only.
