This 1950 Willys CJ3A has been in my possession for the past 5 years. I have bought it with intention of rebuilding it from ground up. It has been disassembled to the last bolt, frame has been blasted and painted using rust encapsulating paint. Bumpers installed. Axles, transmission, transfer case disassembled, cleaned, painted, ready to be put together. Original engine, L134, has not been touched and is not turning over even by hand. Cylinders have been soaking in WD40 for the past few years. It is all there except: fenders, one rim, seat frames, fuel tank, steering wheel. Clean title! Everything is in storage in Schiller Park and would have to be picked up from there. Let me know should you have any specific questions. I have a lot of photos from disassembly process.”

Steve shared these two videos showing swamp buggy racing from the 1950s and swamp buggy racing today. I remember seeing similar videos on the Wide World of Sports back in the late 1970s.

This video shows some vintage looking jeeps and how slow they go in the swamp (9:46 mark).
Page three of this four-page September 1955 issue includes a long article on Warn Hub servicing. Warn determined that 98% of problems folks were having with the hubs was due to users not reading the instructions properly. From our perspective, I think it shows just how new and unusual a selective hub was for consumers.

“1949 CJ3a willy jeep. This jeep is turn key ready. Whole new wiring harness with turn signals added. Converted from 6v to 12v, has step-down starter. Will come with the original 6v parts (6v needs rebuild). Body off restoration. Steps are now installed. Engine professionally rebuild. “We have a 1954 jeep CJ 3B. Has no motor or transmission currently. This is a rare addition high body. We have an inch thick of paperwork from all the original build in the original owner. Original title and bill of sale. We have dimensions and specs from everything when it was built, including gear, ratios, specs, cylinders, and everything when engine was built And the transmission was built in the axles gear ratios. You name it. Unfortunately no motor no trans currently but it originally had a 428 cobra jet in it. It also comes with a set of 18 inch wide rims with paddle tires. One of those tires is flat. Also have a spare set of bucket seats. This is meant for a project. Put whatever you want in it. It’s a 50 for CJ. Imagine putting something feel injected in it and this thing could be worth upwards of 25 grand or more.”
The serial number (459405) indicates this was one of the last 500 MBs produced during 1945. Seller is willing to ship.

“Up for sale is a pretty special 1945 Willys MB Military Jeep. This unit is chassis #459405 (production ended at 459874 in Sept 1945) and body #262829 making it one of the final 500 Jeeps produced during WWII. It has excellent bones and will be a great restoration project.

“Real barn find! A neighbor just passed away and had this Jeep stashed deep in his garage for many years. It’s always been parked in a garage and has been protected from the weather. He had done a lot of work to it and replaced many parts before he got sick. No rust or rot on the frame or body. This would be a great project to bring back to life. The motor turns over easily but we haven’t tried to make it run. We just pulled it out to sell. I have the windshield frame and some other random parts that go with it. It also has some seats but they look to be from a newer Jeep. Let me know if you want to come see it. I can deliver for a price if needed. Make an offer. May be willing to trade.”
