1948 CJ-2A Florence, SC **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500.

It runs, but needs a fuel line.

“I have a 1948 Willy’s Jeep CJ2A. Got it last year as a project and got a good bit done but now need the cash more than the project. I also have two seat frames (not pictured) to go with it. It has the original motor, transmission, and brass radiator. I had the brass radiator repaired and pressure tested last year and it works fine. The motor turns freely when you try to start it but the carb needs to be cleaned before it will fire. It is a 3-speed manual transmisson with a 4×4. Currently sitting on 31” tires. There is no body tub, doors, tailgate, or roof. It was outfitted as a ranch/farm vehicle and ran a little over year ago. I currently don’t have the fuel line hooked up to a tank. This is one of the original Jeeps and will make a great project for some one to finish.

1963 CJ-5 Mesa, AZ **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ5 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Was $3200. **SOLD**

I am selling my 1963 Willy’s CJ-5 Jeep. It is a survivor. My grandfather bought it new and it was used around the farm in Michigan until he died. I inherited it and tried to paint it, but it didn’t turn out too well. I did rewire it as the mice ate the old wire insulation. It has 23,598 original miles with the stock F134 4-cylinder engine. I have added some warn hubs, rebuild the brakes and replace the bearings that were bad. I have replacement decals for the ones that are coming off. It has a clear title in Arizona and I still have it registered. It runs pretty good, though I would recommend a complete going through to get it running tip top. It has some rust on the underbody due to the “rust-belt” of the midwest USA. The rest of the body is in pretty good shape for being over 51 years old. It comes with a full kelly metal top and homemade snow plow with two original willy’s hydraulic pumps, and some extra NOS parts that I got off a AMC garage going out of business in the 1980’s. Tires okay, but not excellent.

Photo of jeep in Maneuvers in Louisiana on eBay

• CATEGORIES: Features, Old Images This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This is an interesting one. Note the driver’s side exhaust where the gas tank should be. It also might have a column shift. The low swoop of the side body suggests this is a prototype. The rivets along the ‘swoop’ and the handle position suggest this is a Ford GP body, yet the fenders look later and the slope of the swoop isn’t quite right. Anyone have thoughts on this? See the Ford GP image below for comparison.

“You are bidding on a great photo named to CPL CHARLES SARM he servied in the HQ Company 3rd Battalion 23rd infantry regiment 2nd infantry division and also served in 3rd Battalion 394th infantry regiment 99th Division. the photos are from the in 1940 – 1945 including Louisiana maneuvers and war photos.”

Looks solid, but not ‘completely stock’. A steering box has been added and wiring updated with fuses. Looks solid.

This is the Jeep you want…it has never been butchered or modified, it is completely stock. I am the 3rd owner. The only modifications that I have done is install Saginaw steering and Warn front hubs. The engine has a very fresh complete overhaul professionally done with approximately 5000 miles. It comes with a metal half cab with metal doors and soft doors. I hate to part with it but it is time for something different.”

UPDATE: Still Available

(09/23/2014) Not quite the jeep that “rode to the front line”, but still worth a look.

The same jeep style that rode to the front line during World War 2, this 1947 Willy Jeep is an American Classic. As rugged as it is blue-blooded American, this Jeep is in great shape, with hardly any rust in its solid steel construction. It has an original Flathead 4 cylinder, a 4 spd tranny and both high & low gears. It’s of course 4wd, and was also overhauled two years ago, with new springs, exhaust system and new tires! Willy Jeeps are classic Americana and symbols of patriotism that will always hold their value.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000.

(07/09/2014) It’s a project.

1953-cj3b-dunn-nc1 1953-cj3b-dunn-nc2

1953 Willys CJ3B for sale. It is a project very near completion. I was going to build this into a crawler and beach vehicle.

The Good-
The body and frame have some surface rust but are solid. The F134 4 cylinder engine is original and has 130K miles on it. It ran 2 weeks ago when I finished wiring the ignition. The Carter carburetor was rebuilt a few months ago. The 12V alternator is brand new. The transmission is a NP435 6.68:1 first gear from Novak Adapters(http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/np435.htm) this with the adapters was around $2500 the transmission is rebuilt but if you looked at it its brand new. Novak did a leak down test before shipping. The transfer case is a Dana 18 2.46:1 low range. It was rebuilt before bolting it up to the transmission. The axles are Dana 25 and Dana 44 the gearing is 5.38. The final drive in low range in this is 88.4:1 plenty to crawl. The wiring harness is about 2 weeks old also.

More Progress From Paul

• CATEGORIES: Features • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Paul’s added more panels to his M-38. The gray panels look real nice inside. Somehow, he managed to arrange an earthquake in Alaska just to test the design!

paul-upholstery-m38-6

I purchased more shower curtain rods so I could speed up my progress on installing the Willys interior panels. I’m excited seeing the improvement the fabric panels make over the bare stainless and it seems Mother Nature is excited also. Yesterday (Sept. 25th) we had a 6.2 earthquake rumble thru town and this evening we had another smaller earthquake measuring only 5.0. The 6.2 quake managed to knock some stuff off the shelves in the garage and some items stored in the crawlspace were broken but we had no damage to the house or the Willys so I’m a happy guy. Here’s a picture of two more interior panels being held in place by 10 curtain rods (upholstery tensioning devices) and you can see the gray fabric panel slightly above the center of this photo. Tomorrow I’ll install two more overhead panels and prep the two vertical corner pieces if the earth quits moving long enough for me to reposition the tension rods.

paul-upholstery-m38-5

As you might have noticed, I clamped the rear window upholstery panel into position this morning. The interior panel is protected by a 2 inch thick white foam overlay and cardboard taped to the stainless protects the surface from scratches from the vise grip clamps. paul-upholstery-m38-4

Two inch thick foam overlay protects the upholstery panel and spreads the clamping force. Two smaller finished pieces are installed and clamped by the famous adjustable tension rods. I’ve used 34 tubes (12.9 ounces each) of black silicone to attach 15 interior panels and I still have 18 panels left to install.

paul-upholstery-m38-2

I never expected shower curtain rods and foam insulation were necessary tools for installing upholstery in the Willys. As you can see on the right Vise Grips, thin plywood and pink foam are also needed. Yes, we embrace diversity here in the northland. paul-upholstery-m38-1
