Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Warn/Saturn overdrive unit that mates to the Dana Model 18 transfer case. This overdrive has a 10 spline input and a 26 tooth main drive gear that works on the model 18 case with a 1 1/8” intermediate shaft. Includes new shifter with linkage and a new gasket install kit. Unit turns freely and is not burnt up, but needs some new bearings.
Also have a 6 spline input available for an extra $120″

(005/30/2014) The seller is right. It’s a bit of a Frankenstein.
“Frankenstein meet your dream car. This is licenced and titled as a 1947 Jeep willies. It is the original tub, grille, and thats about it. The rest of it is a early 90’s S10 with a 4.3l. I’m selling this for my mom who went through a mid life crisis and bought this and sunk alot of money into it, and now is needing to get out of it. I have all of her papers for this thing. it has a 4.3l engine that just blew a head gasket on memorial day (IT STILL RUNS AND DRIVES THOUGH). It does have a bikini top but if the offer is low enough she is gong to take it off and sell it. “

Elle Decor Magazine, to which I’m sure most of you subscribe, featured Ralph Lauren and his “#1 obsession” a “1951 Willys Jeep”. The ad appeared on page 98. I hate to quibble with a fashionista magazine like Elle, but I’m pretty sure that man is sporting a CJ-2A and not a 1951 jeep of any kind. “1949 Willys Overland Pickup for sale. Truck is in good condition overall, have been driving it daily. Has been converted to 12 Volt system and has a Super Hurricane 226 cu in six cylinder. Original three speed, four wheel drive. New tires on front, rear good. Has new wheel cylinders and master cylinder, new rear shoes. All glass is good, wipers and lights work. Dark green in color. “I have a 1953 Willys jeep for sale in great condition it has a 231 buick V6 engine , 4 speed trans with a 300 transfercase , lockers in both diffs and rear diff is a high pinion 3rd member , roll cage , winch , 2 tanks , 4 point harnesses . runs good and its street legal , it has 35″ tires on it. insurance is only $8 a month full coverage which is another good selling point FYI. $8,000 or trade for a RZR900 or 1000 only !!! Title in hand!”

Here’s a GP project.
“ If you’ve been looking for a good prototype jeep to restore, you have just found one. This jeep has been a three year project but unfortunately I have two other jeeps under restoration so I’m selling this one. It is a matching numbers second series GP. As you will see in the pictures the body was pretty good prior to restoration. It comes with almost everything needed to finish it. If it is not listed it does not come with the jeep. All panels were in great shape except for the floors. A new floor has been spot welded in but needs to be finished. The original tail panel was dented up so it was removed to take care of the dents. it still needs to be installed so the jeep can be re assembled. The engine was rebuilt by a machine shop very familiar with this engine. The head, angle drive distributor housing, intake, exhaust manifold, are all original and correct. The drive train is complete with the correct scalloped axles. A lot of the parts have been media blasted and painted but some are still in primer. The jeep will come with a solex and a reproduction air cleaner. A few of the parts such as voltage regulator, circuit braker, coil etc. are NOS that I’ve saved for this jeep. I tried to list everything that comes with the jeep but I’m sure I’m missing something so if you want to know please ask before you make a decision to bid. I’ve included some before pictures and some pictures of the restoration process. This is a great opportunity to get a GP at a fraction of its value. What you see is what you get, everything pictured comes with the vehicle”
