Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1947 Willys jeep for sale. Flat head 4 cyl motor, 5 new tires, has 1947 plates so no tabs, register once then done. The body is in good shape, very little rust. Motor and transmission and transfer case rebuilt. Has all new wiring. Also there is a military 1/4 ton trailer. Arctic top and tons of extra parts including, transmission, 2 transfer cases, 2 pto gear boxes, 2 cases of oil filterss, extra carburetor, 1case of 0weight grease for front end and more.”
It runs, but needs some work.

The 5th Annual Willys Overland Rally takes place May 16th-18th this year in Moab, Utah. The event celebrates Willys Overland Wagons and Trucks.

“I have for sale my 1951 WILLYS CJ3A.This has been my hobby vehicle for the last 5 year or so.It is mostly all original.Has been convereted to 12 volts,has the L134 flathead with a solex carb,has a warn overdrive,an excellent full softop and bikini top,mounted cd player under passenger seat and speakers.As the photos show,it has original wheels and military nondirectional tires and spare.The axels and diffys and brakes have been gone thru.I put all new leaf springs,shakles and shocks.I have done too many things to list.I am selling it only because I am retiring and moving.I feel this is priced very fairly.I am not interested in trades at all and I am firm in the price.Thanks for looking.Added note,it is registered as an historic vehicle,yearly registration and smog not req’d.”

I’ve probably forgotten a lot of stuff, but you get the drift. This is a Jeep that was used for years at local races running a Pinto motor. I broke the old tranny and opted to install the V-6 and automatic, but the local races kind of went away and I never finished it and it has sat in my shop for 10 plus years. This is not a street legal vehicle, although I suppose one could make it that way with work. It is not a turn key ride and definitely does need some work to complete. The motor smokes, but I believe that it is just the seals in the turbo causing this. It needs shock mounts welded, brakes redone, seat covers are looking ratty, shifter needs some adjustment, carb may have issue. . . and I’m sure there is more that I’m not thinking of. Would make a good base for a rock crawler, tough truck rig or just a toy to blow away your friends. I hate to get rid of it but need the space in my shop. Might be willing to deliver within the Treasure Valley.”
