Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Running 1948 Willys jeep CJ2A. Original Go devil 4 cylinder engine. This jeep is very solid. It has surface rust only accept For the bottom of the tail gate (see picture). All of the gauges work properly, the brake master cylinders, wheel cylinders, brake pads,rubber brake lines, axle seals, radiator hoses and thermostat are new. It starts runs and shifts as it should. The interior panels have been Por/15ed. Don’t let the pics fool you. It is actually a pretty strait body. You can drive it as it is or no that every thing works properly for a full restoration. This Willys is located in Canon City Colorado thai is an hour south of Co Springs or 2 hours south of Denver.”

(01/20/2014) This includes a new tub. Looks like it could be a good price for everything.
“I have a jeep project. I have a titled 1943 Willys MB (WWII jeep — VERY hard to find!), currently not running (was running when parked about 5 years ago), with all correct drivetrain EXCEPT for the engine (it has a later model F head, rather than the original L head). It does have the correct T-84 transmission and all the other correct moving parts. The body is rough and needs work — BUT, I have all the replacements parts in another tub, so between the two of them you could put together a nice WWII jeep. I even have a civilian L-head engine (will need to be rebuilt) so, though you wouldn’t have the exact correct engine — you would be close. I don’t have the seats or many other of the correct bits (like the combat wheels — sorry). I only want $1900 for all. You could pull the F-head and sell it to recoup some of the money. It is located in Albuquerque NM and would need to be transported wherever you are.”

(12/26/2013) It’s missing the parking brake, but otherwise looks solid.
“1951 m38- rebuilt transmission, transfer case, new clutch, new pilot shaft, throwout bearing and 4 new universal joints. New fuel tank and sending unit. all new guages. new speedometer cable with stock guage. new emergency brake handle, cable, shoes and drum. been converted to 12 volts. frame was under coated years ago and we started cleaning it off-no rust through. engine runs smooth and does not burn oil or over heat. current registration and street legal. rifle rack is available with garand -if wanted. call for more details or photos.”

Bill Reiss (from Lime Street Carriage) reports that for the last five years his friend Chantelle Kern, from Maryland, has run the Topless for Tatas charity event.
Bill noted, “She gets 500+ jeeps at Rausch Creek every year for a Breast Cancer Research Fund charity event. This year, for the 1st time, they are having a “Willys only” trail led by my friend Mike Gardner. We have a ’45 (Mike), a ’46 (me in Norm), and a ’47 (Jim Fowler from Missouri) signed up so far ….. there are 7 spots remaining. Last year’s donation to the BCRF was over $25k from a 3-day event! We’d like to get the Willys trail filled up!“
