(09/27/2012) This has a few unusual features. Check out the direction of the claws under the rear bumper. Those could cause some problems on difficult terrain. It also has some neat windshield clamps. I suspect the seller means ‘muncie’ 4 speed and not ‘monkey’ 4 speed. There are many pics of this on eBay.

The Vinyl Soft Top is also included with the Jeep and is in working condition. The radio works as well. The Willys is Titled as a 1946 Willy JP, on the Vehicle itself it has a Plate by Willys Overland Motors CJ-2A, number 24996, the vehicle also has aftermarket chrome rims with newer tires and a tow hitch for trailoring.
MECHANICALLY THIS TRUCK is great. although we have not taking the vehicle off road the vehicle did great on our test drive. the motor runs like a top and shifts effortlessly through the gears.”

The fuel pump is having a problem. Looks pretty stock.

I ran across this unusual Controurtop Hardtop in an ad from the April 1967 issue of Four Wheeler Magazine. I’ve never seen one of these for sale on Craigslist.
This “Topless Top” article appeared in the March 1966 issue of Four Wheeler Magazine. Given the top was made of plexiglass, I suspect it is unlikely there are many remaining (if any). I have bid on the issue, so I hope to have better images and more information if/when I win it.
Dan spotted this nice looking, stock wagon. It’s listed as a 1959 Wagon in the title of the AD and a 1958 Wagon in the body of the ad.

Wes forwarded some pictures of his all original rare FC-170 model that includes a snow plow. He has owned it 15 years.
Wes writes, “This was made between 1957 & 1963 by Authenticast,(Comet). It is Pot Metal like many early promotional models. Of the 3 FC 170’s they did, this is the rarest. The scale is 1/20th which is larger than most promos. It is as close to new as an older model can get condition wise. I will send you another photo for size comparison.”

Has an amazing illuminated and animated screen which rolls through freeway scenes, traffic snarls, the highway patrol on the road & issuing infringement notices. I’ve included a video showing this but it’s pretty out of focus. The toy moves about the floor in a random fashion. Think the light on the front is supposed to flash but isn’t working. This may need some tinkering and another small project would be a new steering wheel and seat base. Too good to be called a toy! This is a 50 1/2 or 51 body (with mostly original paint, including the pin stripes in the raised beading under the side windows) sitting on a 58 chassis.. titled as a 58. I have both vin plates so you could probably apply for the earlier title.
Daily driver. Goes down the road very well, with no issues and is fun to drive. Been on the road for a bit over 2 years with no problems..i used it for work every day, loaded with a full compliment of carpentry tools. hour each way
Currently registered and insured.. inspection is overdue, mostly because of laziness.. Hanger bearing recently started clunking after 2 years on the road(it was used,but good when i put it in) have a new one
Motor is from an 85 300d that had 200,000 mils on it. Runs good, no smoke, good oil pressure when i put it in. I don’t have oil gauge hooked up now. I tested it with a temporary when i first started the unit.
I grafted the mercedes cross member/engine support to a set of beefed up willys motor mount perches, (which bolts to current chassis).. This way i could use the stock mercedes motor mounts and engine shocks, which were installed new at time of assembly. I also used the mercedes accelerator pedal and linkage as they are rubber mounted to keep engine vibration from the drivers foot, which it does. I had to graft in a section of the benze firewall into the willys in order to make that happen, and it works well.
ALSO NEW at time of maiden voyage(over 2 years ago): windhield glass and rubber, sliding glass rubber and tracks etc,willys repro wire harness, repro brake lights, all brake components (including lines and hoses), all belts and hoses, valve cover gasket ,rebuilt wiper motor(electric ones are for girls!),gm alternator, radiator, oil pressure line to cooler, pitman arm, tie rods, u joints, tires (on 16″ truck rims), rebuilt steering box, battery. willys america door panels and firewall insulation, heater core cleaned and tested and heater media blasted and painted correct color….etc, etc . . . The seller claims this an unmolested CJ-3A. More accurately, it’s a M-38 that’s just slightly molested.
