Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I have for sale a 1958 Willys Jeep FC 170 Forward Control 3/4 ton pickup with a 9 foot bed. Very cool old 4 x 4! This would be a one of a kind truck once you got her done! That’s the good news. The bad news is, it needs quite a bit of work. I was told by the previous owner that the engine had just been rebuilt and then reinstalled but that’s where the project was abandoned. I have not had the time to mess with it so it has not been running since I’ve had it. It appears to be all original and mostly complete as well but it will need a new back window and one of the sides which I was quoted about $150 for the pair. I do have one replacement door glass and several other small unique parts that will go with it. It does roll so no problem to load it. I do have a clear title on the way from the DMV so there won’t be any paperwork issues. Come check it out! I am also a gun dealer so I’ll accept fireams in trade as well as tools, old cars, parts, or other cool stuff. ”

“Up for sale is my 1943 ford gpw army jeep. I got it from a friend about 3 years ago, but haven’t done anything with it, so it needs to go to a new home. He had started restoration on it, but had stopped due to other interests.It is partially disassembled and would need a full restoration. The body was sandblasted and the metal is nice. You would look for quite some time to find sheetmetal on a gpw as solid as this one is.The engine block and head are marked gpw., and most of the sheetmetal parts are marked “F”. The engine turns over, and before I bought it i pulled the head to see what condition the motor was in. The cylinder walls were good with little wear. Most of the parts are there. The price is $5000 cash, or I would be willing to trade for a 1930-31 model a ford coupe in comparable condition. No lowballers or tire kickers please as I know what the gpw’s are going for right now. If it was an mb it would be worth a third less. If interested call (806)372-9033. “I have a great 1944 willys jeep for sell, mostly origanal ( rebuilt motor origanal) with new tires and softtop ( these are aftermarket ) It also has a tow bar not shown. I also have the origanal manual that came with the jeep. it also has extra wind shield two piece that came with the jeep, It has been converted over to 12 volt. I have a ton of pis so feel free to call and i will send them. this jeep runs great and is a ball to drive. “

Here’s a rare letter that advertises woodie kits from Station Wagons, Inc, for CJ-2A and MB/GPW models. This 2 page letter shows both a full and a half cab. Below the two page letter is an example of an ad that appeared in Popular Mechanics.
Popular Mechanics Ad from the January 1948 issue of Popular Mechanics, pg 266. This ad appeared in the February 1948 issue as well. I haven’t done a full accounting to determine how many other issues had the ad.
Here’s an add from the 1947 issue of Time Magazine showing two different jeeps involved with airplanes. There is a reference to National Skyway Freight Corp and the “Flying Tigers”.

This is a true ‘shed’ find.
“1947 CJ2A JEEP … This old boy has been “shedded” indoors for 32 years.
All Original Parts, Right Off the Farm/Ranch. A Project In Waiting!
I bought it at an auction ( north of Chinook, Montana) because the body was sound and all the parts, except the seats, were there . I thought that I needed it to restore my own 1947, making one whole jeep out of two. That project never got a good start. The body has been welded on in places, the soft top is there, including the doors, but the plastic windows are all clouded. The four tires are old ( with tubes) and there is some damage on the inside rear fender wells that can be straightened out with a porta-pack. Having not run for 32+ years, it is a project/restore job for someone, and it’s prices accordingly! I have other pictures … by request. Thank you.”

This Jeep has been sitting in storage for more than 20 Years. Body is in great shape. Minimal rust on drivers side floor pan. Body is complete and interior is 90% complete. Some glass and interior trim has been removed but it is all inside the vehicle.
Still has the original in line 6cyl motor and 2wd drivetrain. This is a great project for someone looking for a 4×4 build or full restoration.
What I know about the vehicle is all in this ad. I have the original title in hand so if you’re interested come down and take a look at it. We are here Mon-Sat 9am-5pm.

Those terra tires certainly give the jeep a classic feel. It looks in good shape.
“1952 Willys Jeep CJ3A “All Steel” Chev 350 V8 engine conversion ( mid 70’s Z28/ Vette engine) 3 speed 4X4, Lock out hubs, Classic off road tires. Frame is perfect. You can eat off the underside of this jeep (Not a rust bucket) diamond tufted seats, roll bar etc. Rides and Drives Not been beat, only for the young at heart…if it had wings it would fly..
