Sebastian wrote me yesterday, telling me he and some buddies made a special trip to visit the Willys Spring 2011 Reunion.
He writes, “Yesterday I went to the Midwest willys reunion in Mason OH. Altough we did not take our jeeps, some members of the Flat Fender Club of Butler went there to see some nice willys. It was a busy day, about 4 hours each way (from Pittsburgh). A very long day as you can imagine, totally worth it as shown in the pictures: http://flatfenderclubofbutler.wordpress.com/ (top post). These are the Formula Desert Dog Xtra tires. Very rare. I think they are historically cool, but it doesn’t look like there’s all that much tread. See an ad for the tires at the bottom of this link.

The four-wheel drive FC-150 Forward Control Jeep has the cab situated well forward of the engine to provide more than six feet of cargo bed length despite the 81-inch wheelbase. Overall length was 147.5 inches, two inches shorter than the Nash Metropolitan and 38 inches shorter than a Chevrolet half-ton pickup. Classified as a 3/4-ton unit, though the chassis was basically that of a CJ-5 Jeep, the FC-150 was originally powered by the four-cylinder F-head Hurricane engine producing 75 horsepower and 114 pounds-feet of torque. It now has the 1985 Ford T-Bird fuel injected four-cylinder engine installed.
