UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1550
This looks like a great price. That’s only 500 miles from me … hmmmm.
“1954 CJ-3B. This early CJ is in good condition and runs very well. The carburetor has been rebuilt along with a new fuel pump and filter. The fuel tank was removed and cleaned then treated with a chemical sealant made especially for the task of restoring old fuel tanks. The original 4-cylinder engine also received new plugs, wires, oil, filter, etc. this past year.
The drivetrain is original and in proper functioning condition. The 4-wheel drive works as well as hi/low range. The electrical system is the original 6 volt and also functions properly. Head/brake lights, turn signals and even the electric wiper (converted from vacuum) all operate well.
The hydraulic plow works. It’s lifted by a single cylinder and swivels manually. It has a fresh coat of Caterpillar-yellow paint on it.
The interior of the CJ is pretty basic with a late-model bench seat put in sometime in the past. There is an under-dash heater plumbed in but its working condition is unknown at this time. The fuel gauge does not work; there is no sending unit in the tank. The windshield has several cracks.
The major areas of concern on the vehicle are the brakes and front suspension. The brakes do work, they are just very soft and the pedal goes to the floor. The fluid is full so likely the master cylinder is shot and/or the brakes need bleeding. The front suspension is very worn from carrying the plow for many years. Also of concern is most of the tires have very little tread and all are severely weather-checked.
Overall this is a very sound Willys that can be restored or used as is for plowing in the winter (even has a block heater). I haven’t spent a lot of time underneath it but there is not a lot of rust. You should come make that evaluation yourself. I can get more detailed photos of any areas of concern if you’re a very serious buyer. Realize it’s nearly a 60 year old vehicle though and priced very reasonably. MT title is in hand; vehicle has not been registered for the road since the early 1980’s.”
