Gerben asked me to let readers know he was selling his GPA. He’s managed to take some unique pics, so there are some good views. I especially like the way he’s managed to lift the back and front (using a crane?).
“Ford GPA Amphibious jeep. This is a NOS (yes, new old stock) hull that was never used. I know for sure because I have drilled all of the holes for the springbrackets myself when we put the frame in for the first time. We inspected the wheelwells very carefully and sanded of the paint to see if there were holes welded. It was all flat sheetmetal and the only holes present were the ones for the shockabsorber pins and the breaklines
Some repairs are done due to sitting outside for perhaps years. The toprail on the left and rear part and some small parts of sheetmetal have been replaced. This was not done by me, one of the previous owners did that a few years ago. After that is was shotblasted and painted again.
The axels are rebuilt with new bearings, seals and brake parts. 4 new Firestone tires on original split rims. The frame and all of the other parts are used and from other GPA’s
All of the hard to get special GPA parts are there such as surfshield, bilge pump with 3 way valve, 12 volt generator, PTO for the propellor and pump, capstan winch with PTO and bracket on the engine, 6 blade fan with shroud and GPA radiator.
The engine is original GPA but has a crack above the distributor and needs repair. I will include a Ford GPW engine that runs good. The gearbox, transfercase and PTO are rebuilt and ready to be mounted.
The dash, front and rear deck, floors, frontseats are in great condition and only need minor repairs. Bottom of the rear seat needs to be replaced. The original fuel tank is in bad condition. A new handmade exact copy reproduction tank will go with the vehicle.
I think about 10% of the needed parts are missing. There is no title with the vehicle. A bill of sale only. The GPA is located in the Netherlands in Europe and can be viewed by appointment. I will sell worldwide and help on this end, but it’s up to the buyer to arrange and pay shipping.”
