1969 Dually CJ-5 Red Hook, Ny eBay

• CATEGORIES: CJ5 • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

I haven’t seen many dually CJ-5s.

“1969 CJ-5 Jeep Dually, 4cyl, 3sp unit with a dana 70 rearend. Jeep originally had a trencher unit mounted to it. The trencher is long gone, sorry. Jeep has low mileage and runs well. New rebuilt carb, recent tires, new battery, new brakes (currently a little spongy, will bleed before auctins end), heater(aftermarket), wiring harness (painless), etc. Not perfect, but a nice driver or property/Town vehicle. It has a clear VT registration and has been on the road recently. Body in very good condition, some small dents, coarse body work and paint. Frame is straight and clean and retains its full side plate reinforcements from the trencher. Drivetrain all sounds and looks good with a few leaks. Motor runs well, but smokes on start up and a little bit when running …”

3 Jeeps = GPW, CJ-3A, M-38 Davenport, IA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A, GPW (Ford MB), M-38 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

The GPW looks in the best condition, followed by the M-38 (incorrectly listed as a CJ-3A) and then the CJ-3A.

“I am selling my hobby because of a line of duty accident that has left me with no other option. these jeeps were bought at an estate auction and they only have a bill of sale, because they have always been government owned before the last owner. The CJ3A was started on a off frame overhaul and the body was set back on to sell. The GPW is as I purchased it they both ran and drove off the trailer. the last one is just parts. thank you for your interest, this pains me to do this but I have no other choice.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000.

“times really are tough. must sell my 1945 willys combat jeep. the jeep is a work in progress. right now it runs good, no smoke or engine noises. it drives and it stops. clutch slips some in high range gears. throwout bearing is a little noisy. all gears work, 4 wheel drive with lockout hubs works perfect. has all new brakes and brake lines including all steel and rubber lines. carb was rebuilt. still needs cosmetics. fuel tank gally under the seat needs replace. has no orig tank, uses plastic boat tank now. no windshield glass floors are not perfect they have some thin spots but mostly solid. this jeep with another 1500 in cosmetic work is very valuable. I would take 5000 firm. as little as 3000 with a trade. looking for old chevy muscle.”

My Build: Seat Covers

• CATEGORIES: Biscuit This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

One thing I did not get with my $20 seats were seat covers (here’s another link on how they mount).  Kim offered to sew these together for me and, since she’s right here, I could keep my eye on them as they were being made.  These were sewed from the heaviest, nicest seat vinyl I could find from Beverly Fabrics.  Best of all, it was 50% off.

The Prototype, which is on the passenger seat, could use a little adjustment still, but the second one turned out great.  Both just need some rider time to get stretched and pressed against the seat so they will form more closely to the seats.

My Build: Transfercase cover

• CATEGORIES: Biscuit This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

I’ve been attacking a variety of little projects to get the jeep complete.  One of those is the transfercase cover.  Mike and I had done a little trade out of which I received a stock CJ-2A rubber boot, but after testing it out, I decided it wouldn’t work.  So, I ordered a beefier and larger Dana 300 boot that did the trick.

In order to mount it, I had to build a metal cover to secure the rubber boot.  I turned to my old dissected hood for some metal.  I then cut a hole the side of the boot, drilled some holes along the side, and mounted it to my fiberglass.

Below is the Dana 300 boot and the metal piece I made:

Below is the hold I needed to fill:

And here it is filled.  Nothing fancy:

UPDATE:  Price dropped to $1000.  It runs.  Looks like a great price to me.

(07/13/09) I wonder how bad the inside rust really is.

“Up for sale is one of the rarest jeeps ever produced. It is a millitary M170 field ambulance. It has been converted to 12 volts. It does have rust in the bed and passenger floor. It would make a great restoration project or hunting vehicle. It runs and drives. The 4wd also works. The frame and drive train are in good condition. The driverside windsheild also has a crack in it. I do not have a title will be sold with a bill of sale.”

IMCDb – A Willys Hi Railer

A reader of IMCDb suggested this was a vehicle called a ‘Willys Jeep Hi Railer’.  This was a snapshot from the movie “It happened to Jane

However, based on the Hy Railers at Dave’s Willys Country website, I’m less sure this is a Willys vehicle.   Am I wrong?

1958 CJ-3B Chevy Chase, MD $5000

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3B This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

It appears fairly original.

“1958 Willys CJ-3B jeep for sale. Only three owners — a Virginia farmer, a teenage boy who restored it, and my dad, who bought it in 1992 to haul firewood on weekends in West Virginia. It has been sitting in my garage in Chevy Chase for the last 8 years or so. It is totally solid and runs great. Very low mileage/time since engine was rebuilt. All original except seats and tailgate and roll bar. More photos available.”

1950 CJ-3A Sicklerville, NJ **SOLD on eBay**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: The winner of this auction for the low price of $1575, Joe reports he brought a new battery with him when he picked up the jeep, stuck it in the jeep and the jeep fired right up.  He then drove the jeep right on to the trailer.  He’s a happy camper about now.  Congrats!

“1950 WILLYS JEEP in running condition. It needs brakes, has oversized tires, original spare tire and needs some body work. It would be good for running around the farm or woods, used for parts or restore it. The mileage listed  may not be correct although it has not had many miles put on in the last 40 years, mostly just offroad around the property here.”

WW2 Military Field Kitchen Trailer Morton Grove, Il **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: trailer This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was on eBay.

Jim knows how much I loved this find.

Apart from jeeps, one of my passions is cooking.  I worked as a chef for about 5 years and have loved cooking ever since.  So, I think this trailer is really cool.  Of course, I’d need a second trailer for a grille, a broiler, a powerful wok, a place for a cooler … oh, this just sounds like trouble.  Here’s a more modern “kitchen trailer” than might work better for me.

“Very early model field kitchen, mostly original parts, perfect working order, great for reenactments, stainless steel pots, makes delicious meals.Included are four stainless steel pots: two: 18″X18″X18″deep and two: 18″X18″X12″deep, at maximum capacity it is good for 100 dinners. The pots work like pressure cookers, so delicious and healthy dinners are ready in no time. This is a wood burning kitchen, no propane necessary. Works perfectly. Originally made in Poland for the eastern front in WW2, made as an attachment to the Jeep Willys MB.”

My Build: Mufflers

• CATEGORIES: Biscuit This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  I reported last week that I got my mufflers attached.  Here’s some pics of that. On my last jeep, I never liked the way I connected my mufflers, so I decided this time I would create a more secure setup.

To start, I select some ‘Cherry Bomb’ mufflers that were the smallest, least expensive ones I could find at my local Schucks store.  Between the headers and muffler I added a short piece of flexible pipe, in part to provide a little flexibility and to turn the corner underneath the front cage mount.  Behind the muffler, I connected a tube with a 50 degree bend and an angle cut at the very end.  To the tailpipe I also welded a flat piece of steel with two holes so that I could connect the muffler section to the bottom of the tube show in the pics below.  You can see that I drilled a holes and inserted studs, which I welded in place,  so I could easily connect the mufflers.
