Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This is a project with a rough body. However, the body tag indicates an early serial number of 11019.
“1945 CJ2a Willys Jeep for sale. Serial number 11019, one of only 1824 built in 1945. All original frame and body tags in place. Sold on Bill of sale. Exhaustive description with pictures at the CJ2a website – see the link below. Will consider trade credits for M38 and CJ2a Jeep parts and accessories or White Vinyl fencing 6-7 feet high.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $2800. This is a pretty good price I think.
There have been a few minor updates, however it sure looks nicely stock. It would probably restore very nicely.
“1951 jeep willys cj-3a, all original except converted to 12 volt(still have 6 volt generator), and tires and rims. Have soft top from kayline, but needs to have a windshield mount made. runs good and 4×4 works good too. new radiator, windshield, and battery(but needs to be mounted). will need new guages, the speedo and oil pressure guage work though.”
Diamond plating is great for covering all kinds of problems. Almost better than duct tape … almost …
“For sale are 3 sheets of diamond plate 1/8 inch thick aluminum. I have two sheets at 2 feet tall and 6 feet long, and one sheet at 2 feet tall and 4 feet long. It was for a project I never got to. Email me name and number. These pieces would go for over $400.00 and can be made into anything with simple metal cutting tools (like a skill saw)!”
No price listed for this 1954 CJ-3B out of Georgia. It appears in good condition.

Here’s a tube frame flat fender project I ran across today. There’s lots of pics. The project is in progress, so i hope to see some additional pics soon. It appears the builder (name of Jesse?) is building a rock crawler of some kind.

There’s been several mods to this vehicle. Note that the front tires are a little farther forward then they should be. Also, this is a 2wd vehicle. it appears to have a home-made tailgate? (see other pic)

It was one of those days where I was searching for one thing and found another: The Nash Quad Truck (the truck to the right is a 1919 Nash Quad, Owned by Bruce and Melanie Rice #8880). These are 4wD with four wheel steering. (see the video below to see a quad and its steering in action)
It turns out, these were a big hit during World War I. In the Story of the Jeep, Patrick Foster writes that the Quad ” … dramatically proved it’s worth … and proved the value of four wheel drive …”
Here’s a brief history from the Pioneer Flight Museum:
“The Nash Quad was first manufactured in 1914 by the Thomas B. Jeffrey Company, which was located in Kenosha, Wisconsin. It became quite popular during World War I and was used by the armed forces of not only the United States, but also Russia, France and Britain. One of the first motor vehicles to offer four-wheel drive, the Quad proved very suitable to the rough, unpaved roads of the time. In 1916, Jeffrey sold the production rights to the Nash company. Because of its popularity, it was produced in large numbers, including license production by Hudson, National, and Paige-Detroit. Exact numbers aren’t known, but apparently over 11,000 were produced in 1918 alone.“

The paint job on this is pretty unusual. It looks like a tile mosaic. The top is in poor condition.
“Body, running equipment, and engine all excellent. Interior and top need work. Has a tow bar to pull it with and you will need a light bar for rear if going very far. If you want to drive it away bring top post battery.”

This was a Vietnam Vet’s vehicle and has been in dry storage for 25 years.
“1964 M-151 Military Jeep. Selling this 1964 military M-151 Mutt Jeep , It has the full canvas top with sides and extra wheels and parts. Its been in dry storage 25 years since 1984, belonged to an Alabama Vietnam VET. Still 24 Volt System , needs to be tuned-up, brakes have been reworked but need to get the air out of them. Great vehicle needs tune-up. Exterior and interior both show little or no rust. For more technical specifications, email for detailed information.”

This looks in very good shape for the price.
“This is an ex-military Jeep made by Kaiser. It was stationed at Ford Ord military base in central California during Vietnam. This was called a Fast Attack Vehicle used by all the armed forces. This one was an ARMY Jeep. The original odometer still works and shows 15,000 miles. It is 4 wheel drive like most Jeeps but these have full independent suspension with A-arms instead of leaf springs. Many things have been replaced with original parts. The only thing I had left to do was install the headlight switch assembly. Thats why I say it’s about 95% restored. It runs and drives good.”

It appears in pretty good shape.

“willys cj-2a 1946 this jeep is part of a barn clean out I did.. this willys has been highly modified it has a mid 60,s v6 buick motor 12 volt ele system roll bar bikini 1/2 top .. upgraded rear end dana 40 new starter motor starts and runs well.. had a warn overdrive thats missing so it will not move on its own NO BRAKES!! this is being sold as a parts car no title! bill of sale only .. would make a great summer toy to the right person $1500 I think its worth it in parts alone
so bring a trailer or a ramp truck and$ 1500 cash and take it away!!”
It’s only $1500, it runs and sounds pretty stock. Might be a good value.

Here’s a rarely seen vehicle. Though rare, the price still seems a bit high given the condition.

Before there were jeeps, drivers had to amuse themselves with vehicles somehow. Before there was Willys Overland there was just Overland. In 1907, wondering where 500 cars he ordered were, John North Willys found himself having to ask friends to inject cash into Overland after he discovered he wouldn’t get his cars if he didn’t (the company would have gone bankrupt). So, in 1920 you have an Overland (maybe the 1918 Overland 90 Touring model) made by Willys Overland, what can you do with it if you don’t have four wheel drive?
You jump it of course! On September 5, 1920, the driver below, Henry Alegria, a Basque Pioneer in Idaho, drove this four cylinder Overland touring car over an 18 foot gap between two ramps. I’m assuming he survived the jump. It looks pretty crazy, given the driver probably had no seat belt. I found the photo in a book by Arthur A. Hart called Life in Old Boise that someone gave me recently. The book has some great pics, which are more enjoyable if you know Boise, Idaho, at all.

“here is a vary rare 45 ford army jeep and trailer and has been used for mostly hunting and camping from summer to summer and has been in my family since new.im sellen it for my great aunt witch is the origianl owner.i have a clean title in hand also is curently not running do to a frozze starter and bad wireing and i need to sell asap. There are many extra parts to go with it such as the full cloth doors and top,extra hubs,seats,and misc little stuff ,and the triler is a home made job,bottom line this jeep would make a great toy or father /son project with just a little tlc.”

This might not be a bad price. It’s worth a look if the body is in as good of shape as advertised. For Northern Exposure fans, Roslyn, Wa, was the real setting for the fictional city of Cicely, Alaska. (Here’s some filming locations)
“This jeep has been used summers at our cabin in Roslyn, put in covered storage in winters. Has newer F head 4 cylinder, rebuilt rearend and brakes, rewired, new battery, tow bar, bikini top, original skinny rims and weathered tires. Runs well, easy to drive, 4 wheel drive shifts and works perfect. Over all good shape, but not perfect by any means, no body rust through at all, some minor cosmetic body rust on the side but that is all. Worked perfect for us going to the beach, exploring gravel roads etc, a ton of fun for the money. Jeep is in Roslyn, can be arranged to be seen most weekends, could be brought to the West side for the right buyer and a deposit.”
This is pretty rough, but it’s one of the lower priced trailers I’ve seen. I don’t know a lot about these.
“WWII military trailer built to be towed behind the Willys MB or Ford GPW jeeps. This one is just like a Bantam T3, but I believe it was built by Willys. It tows nicely, but the lights aren’t hooked up right now. The floor is pretty bad, but most are after over 60 years of our weather. It has a 2″ ball coupler and does have a tailgate.”
UPDATE: The price on this was $1500 a few days ago, but now the price has doubled to $3000. More pictures provided as well.

The seller lists two different prices for this M-38. Strangely, the dashboard looks like a M-38, but there are no passenger side cutouts and no battery cowl lid.
“1952 Willis Jeep. Runs good and has a sound body. All gears are good. Enclosure included (soft top and sides). Removable back seat, gun rack, and tow bar. The vinyl seats are cracked, as is the windshield. This Jeep was restored before I bought it and has locking hubs and wide tires. (I have two of the original tires and rims.) I have owned it for 10+ years and used it for hunting, playing, etc. It is kept in a shelter. Due to infrequent use, I am willing to part with it. $5000 Cash OBO”
