Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “NO TRADES-DONT ASK. Very nice ’47 Willys cj2a. Has the original 4 cylinder engine and 3 speed manual. I have a bikini top for it. Not a show piece just a nice driver. Bought this to use as a neighborhood runner in place of my golf cart but changed my mind so here’s your chance. Was told everything was new or rebuilt about 12 years ago. It has basically sat since then. Previous owner used it sparingly. Runs and drives excellent. Clean and clear title. Not a fire sale, I’m just putting it out here. Believe me I have no reservations about wrapping it up and putting it in storage if it doesn’t sell.”

“Restored by previous owner and running prior to being garaged a few years ago. Flat head 4 cylinder. Fender is off, but included. Needs new starter which was purchased, but has a different configuration so we did not install. This is an inherited car and we believe the fender was removed to work on the starter. “1953 M38 Willys Military Jeep with 30 caliber replica machine gun and radios. Overall good condition and a head turner! The paint job is probably an 8. The radios worked the last time I tried them however they are designed for 24v system and the Willys was converted to 12v and need more juice to operate fully. There are a few small rusted areas (floor board, battery compartment) and I can get additional photos if you have serious interest. The windshield does not have wipers. The siren is not currently working. I’m not sure if its a wiring, motor issue or just needs some tlc. It is very loud however when it works. I put a new carburetor on it and have the original. If it sits for a short time I usually have to put a little fuel in the carb to start it. It runs well and has been used in parades, festivals and ice cream runs in town but just don’t use it that much anymore since I moved”

“n 2015 I bought the CJ6 I replaced the cylinder head and the crankshaft rod and main bearings. Replaced all the brake shoes, wheel bearings, grease seals, drums and u joints, front brake lines. 5 new Goodyear Wrangler tires and steel rims. Other NEW items replaced; wiper motor and arms; original steel fuel tank and sender; OEM gauges; radiator; front and rear 3″ leaf springs; 4 shock absorbers; 60 amp single wire alternator; two batteries; electric winch; auxiliary fuel tank, starter motor and heavy duty relay. Installed; the receiver, full roll cage; bull bar; farm jack; front, side and rear auxiliary lighting; roof and rear storage racks electric fan; seats; 3 point seat belts. Serviced the gear boxes. Additional items included tire chains; snatch block and 100 feet of recovery cable; tree saver, 2 shackles; starter motor; 2 stainless steel locking door handles; windshield gasket; recovery ramps The original owner never used the Jeep for any extensive 4 wheeling so the drive train is in excellent condition. There is some rust in several body panels. Email me for more pictures about rust areas.”

“Selling my 1947 Willys Jeep CJ2A. Don’t know too much about the history of it but I’ve owned it for a couple of years. Flathead 4 cylinder motor. I’ve done some work on it, wasn’t running when I bought it. New water pump, new copper head gasket along with a used head that I had magnafluxed at NAPA machine shop and it checked out fine with no cracks. The head it came with was cracked and caused coolant to get into the oil. It’s a 12 volt electrical system. Just installed a new carburetor because the one it came with didn’t have an accelerator pump and caused it to bog and stumble and not run like it should. Removed the fuel tank and had it cleaned and treated with sealant. Also just installed new ignition points, condenser and internal resister coil. Gauges work including speedometer, volt meter, temp gauge and oil pressure is 40 psi. The transmission shifts, hi and lo range and 4 wheel drive functions like it should. It stops but pulls a little to the right, brake shoes might need adjusted. It’s a smoker so it might need rings but it runs decent like it is. Not interested in trades”

Roger sent these pictures. According to Rick Riley (the owner), this cool vehicle is a “1979” C-o-m-a-n-d-o (one M) manufactured in Spain. He purchased it from an ex-military gentleman who was stationed in Sicily. When his tour of duty was up in 2006, he had the Comando shipped to the Norfolk VA. The vehicle was stored and not in service from then until Rick purchased it in 2019. The engine is a four-cylinder Perkins, four-speed transmission, full floating rear differential, Model 30 closed knuckle front and 488 gears. It is similar to the U.S. version of this body style Commando which ended in 1971, but there are many large and small differences between the two versions.
This year’s Willys Am Tegernsee convention in Bavaria will be July 13, 2019, I’m still hoping to attend this some day.
This December 29, 1950, ad in the Evening Star promoted Sligo Motors, Inc, a new Willys-Overland dealer. Note the Willys-Overland service sign in the lower left corner. I don’t think I’ve seen that one.

(05/13/2019) Matt’s made some progress on this 3B project, but he needs to let it go. It has the L-head installed, but he does have the F-head still.
“Up for sale I have a 1955 Willys CJ3B project. This is a project that I started and have run out of time for. The chassis is finished…running, driving and stopping including a complete paint job with chassis saver, new shocks, brakes, steering components and a motor tune up. The engine is an earlier flat head (L head) engine rather than the original overhead valve (F head). Still a great running engine. I do have an original F head engine I could swap into it if you really want originality. T90 three speed transmission and D18 transfer case work perfectly. The pto system that is pictured on the frame is no longer on it.
This Jeep is at the point where it needs body and paint work. The body has been patched and strengthened but needs finish welding and grinding to be ready for paint. All of the sheet metal is currently just sitting on the frame nothing is bolted down. It is not drivable the way it sits.
I have 95% of everything for it the only things you need to get are seats, new tires, windshield gasket, hardware such as nuts and bolts and possibly a better tailgate. All of the small parts that arent pictured are in boxes in my garage and I can tell you exactly where everything is.
Body tags are intact and it is sold with a bill of sale only. No title. If you are in CT thats not a problem. If you are interested give me a call or text and I can answer any more questions you may have. I am asking $3000. I have more into the chassis than that. I may consider trades for other early flatfender Jeeps preferably ones with original paint. If the ad is still posted, it is still available. Thank you
