Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “$6500 with winch, or $6000 without winch, would rather sell without winch. Up for sale is a 1947 Willys Civilian Jeep, with a later model F-head engine. Engine, transmission and transfer case were rebuilt about 1,200 miles ago, new cooper tires put on about 300 miles ago (some older pictures have the old tires) nice best-top brand top with doors, very good shape, runs great, shifts great, starts up every time with no problems, ask any questions you’d like, happy to answer. Has minimal surface rust, no holes or cancer, no major dents or cracks in body, fenders were strengthened at some point with some l-stock steel. Has a suspension lift to fit 31″ tires and bigger f-head engine, center seam under hood has been cut and a small portion of the firewall has been trimmed to accommodate, has holley carb. All gauges work, all electrical works. Has a newer heater. Has hand operated Beebe Bros 2 ton winch that works very well, haven’t seen many of them around, is currently off of the jeep. I love this jeep but I feel like it’s too nice for me to smash around rocks and trees in so I’d rather have something a lot rougher to mess with. Has full roll bar under top, locking ammo can storage compartment between seats, back seat will need some tlc, front seats in great shape with no tears or wear, windshield wipers run off of vaccuum, has tow hitch, comes with one brand new army green jerry can and holder which is mounted to tailgate. Includes one spare tire mounted on side. Electrical is a 6v system. Engine leaks a little oil, I assume some bolts need to be tightened after breaking in from the rebuild. This isn’t perfect, but is pretty nice.
This 1951 Willys Jeepster is a 4-cylinder, manual transmission vehicle with 47570 miles showing (mileage is not guaranteed).
The Jeepster has an excellent top, good wide whitewall tires, and a solid body showing an older repaint. Hubcaps are original with trim rings. The upholstery is useable with some cracks/tears as shown in the photographs. Engine is inline, F-head 4 cylinder; 134.2 cu.in. The engine runs fine, but shows blue smoking. The Jeepster was offered from 1948 through 1951 by the Willys-Overland Company.

“1955 Willys–Great running QUIET 4 cylinder gas saver smooth running, The Good- Engine runs great, transmission is tight- not sloppy, transfercase- hi and low work great, axles are solid with locking hubs , no rust on body, glass is good, wiper works, nice seats, has the rear tire holder that also holds 2 jerry cans,- Now for the bad- The heater hoses are not hooked up(I did not plan on using the heater unless I found a hard top) –, when in low range- it will climb almost anything, , has bikini top ”

(11/14/2012) This looks nice. It has a clever spare tire holder that uses part of the PTO bar. It’s worth a look. The custom undercarriage is lower than usual.
” 1947 Willys CJ2a. This is an easy driver for anyone. It was built for my mother to drive around. It has all the great Willys jeep modifications including:
Saginaw power steering
Buick 231 V6
Dana 44 rear, Dana 27 front, 3:73 gears.
Turbo 350 automatic transmission with single stick Dana 20 transfer-case.
Adjustable front bucket seats (Drivers side has the wheel-well “notched” for more adjustment room- I am almost 6’3″ and can drive this comfortably.
Vent in windshield frame that can be opened for air flow (See pics)

This Jeep was never used off the road. It will get around town and fly down the freeway just fine. This is a really snappy rig and will take off at the drop of hat. It gets lots of looks going down the road. The only trouble is the gas gauge which needs worked on and a small chip in the windshield which has a “glass sticker” on it to keep it from spreading. Please ask any questions. I am selling this in cooperation with my father.
The work was completed about 10 years ago on the jeep. It has always been garaged and rarely driven in the rain. It was a spring and summertime driver.
Alas, it’s top will keep you warm and dry (has heater and defroster). In heavy water (such as during washing or heavy rain) some water will gather in the front floor boards. We always just put a towel down there when washing. Someone could easily track the source of the water getting in, we just never did as it was a nice day driver.”

The seller notes this was purchased a few days ago for over $10,000. The grill and bumper aren’t original, but the rest looks solid. The paint on the dash appears a little rough.
“serial #176801 This Jeep was manufactured in by Ford February of 1944 using the Willy’s-Overland design. The vehicle has been nicely restored and wears fresh paint including “USMC / 58282” . The engine runs strong and the electrical system has been converted to 12 volt. The frame shows no evidence of being welded and seems very sound. The headlights along with the fuel, speed, amp and temperature gauges all function properly. The tires are all excellent and the vehicle comes with a spare tire, gas can, GI ammo crate, shovel and axe. It is currently registered as an antique vehicle in the state of Maine. This true classic represents one of the very first Jeeps made in the first three years of production and before a civilian version was even developed. “1948 CJ-2A Restored in early 1990 by Willys of Milwaukee Wis. The vehicle is a driver quality and not a show vehicle. It has new tires, brakes, shocks and springs all around. It has a 12V. electrical system. The rest of the vehicle is original. It runs good and is a lot of fun to drive. I used it for an airport car for the past 5 years and have given up flying so I no longer need my toy. This car gets tons of looks and always gets comments and brings back lots of memories. The drive train is solid but like any vehicle that is 64 ears old it does have some minor drips, not really leaks. I have 4 extra wheel rims that are included and a canvas top that came with the car when I bought it. I am taking a $4,000 loss on this car from my investment. Buyer must make arrangements for shipping, I will assist in any way I can to make it as easy for the buyer as I can. The vehicle is available for inspection and I can store it for up to 6 months if necessary.”

(09/27/2012) This has a column shift and some square washers, but it missing other VEC elements.
“I have a 1945 CJ-2A for sale with a clear Ohio title# The vehicle is located in NE Ohio 44691# It has been redone# This vehicle is #373 of 1824 made in the closing days of WW2 for civilian use# It shares many parts/traits with the military jeeps of the era# It is a very rare vehicle# All numbers match on the frame horn, dash plate and under hood# I believe the tailgate ACM is #376# The date stamps on the axles, etc#indicate the jeep was probably made on or just prior to the day we dropped the bomb on Hiroshima# The L134 engine has been rebuilt #red# and is not original to the vehicle# It carries at least 40 lbs# of oil pressure at idle and 60 lbs# when driving# There are no issues with the engine# I recently replaced the fuel pump#The jeep tracks straight down the road with no wobble# It is a 3 speed on the column as it should be# It will sometimes jump out of second gear only on deceleration# I have not found it a problem to warrant a rebuild# Low/high 4wd work as they should# It is a 6 volt system# All wiring has been replaced, all gauges, etc# work with the exception of the horn #the relay works so it is in the horn proper## There is a rear seat which has been redone as have the others# There is no rust and it leaks very little oil# The gas tank, fuel lines are new as is the radiator and hoses# There are many new parts and a receipt book comes with the vehicle# All window glass has been replaced as have the seals# The brakes are exceptional# There are no tool indents, that panel was replaced as were several other body panels when it was redone however the floor, tailgate, windshield, fenders, hood, grille and dash are origional# Standard rear hitch seems quite heavy duty#”

(07/17/2012) The seller notes that this is in great original condition. It looks solid and while there is lots of original jeep here, the drain holes have been plugged and it appears from the pictures that the front and lower sides have been painted differently than the rear portion of the body. I suspect there has been some body work done.
