“For Sale: 1949 Willys Jeep CJ3A. $25,000.XX. (Twenty Five Thousand dollars). This is an all original Willys that was meticulously restored over the course of 2 years by myself. It was a frame off restoration down to every last nut and bolt. There is no bondo or fiberglass or rust on this baby. Everything works perfectly as it was originally designed to work and operate. The engine was completely rebuilt, the transfer case, the clutch all rebuilt.
The electrical harness was replaced with a new exact duplicate. The exhaust is an exact duplicate of the original custom made in stainless steel. The original carburetor was rebuilt and it starts on the coldest of winter days with the original 6 volt electrical system. The battery sits in its proper location in a case that looks like a vintage battery but actually contains a modern jell cell battery; one of the only minor alterations to the original. The battery has a turn disconnect on the cable so that when not in use I leave it hooked up to a 6 volt drip charge.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $16,000.

Jesse noted that, “It was originally built in the 70s by my friend Gary Jack. He worked for the US Postal Service his whole career. When he retired, the tired FJ3 was also retired, so it went to scrap. At the time the FJ3 Postal FleetVans did not have the approval of the federal DOT and especially they did not have the approval of California DMV, because of the right hand drive and the seated / standing up driver operation. He was able to sneak out the scrapped pieces of the FJ3 that he had driven during his career, and a few others, enough to recreate and build a dream that he had during his career, to build a chopped top race truck. He did that. Gary and the FJ were a regulars at Riverside Raceway for a lot of years. In the 80s to the 90s this same FJ3 became a top NSRA street rod.”

“Frame off restoration. Body, tailgate, and frame have matching numbers. Not sure if it’s the original motor, but it’s period correct and rebuilt to new engine spec’s and tolerances. It’s been somewhat militarized, but could easily be returned to its original configuration and paint scheme (red). It’s currently titled in Idaho under my name. Detailed parts list with receipts along with an itemized list of machine work completed included with the jeep. I’ve included a few before and after photos.”
Andy is selling his CJ-2A & Trailer. You can contact him through the CJ-2A page.
“In the interest of transparency, this is a resto mod, Jeep salad. If you are looking for an original, turn away. If you are looking for a well crafted reliable driver – well this may be for you.
The specs…..as best I can remember them:
1946 column shift tub. ACM is still present. Period correct tailgate with ACM as well.
1953 CJ3B chassis – fully blasted, boxed in critical places
D 25 front with 78 CJ bolt on caliper disc brakes. High steer tie rod flip set up. All new pretty much everything.
D44 rear – just built. Full floater early Warn kit. Disc brakes as well. Lock-rite locker. New.
D18 – later model 29 tooth with 1 1/4 shaft. Period correct Warn OD
Low miles L-head with a Scout Pilot top of the line carb and filter
Saginaw power steering conversion
12 volt conversion.
New clutch, resurfaced wheel, etc. All new.
Herm dual master. In fact every brake component is new. No really – every single part.
Beachwood canvas seats and tailgate chain covers. Custom matching covers in the trailer.
six new Swamper radials – 31×9.5. 1/2 tread spare on matching wheel
Body is all redone – no hidden surprises. See the build thread. Pasture green.
1951 Bantam-esque trailer. We never could determine the pedigree of this trailer. But nonetheless – completely redone with a custom tailgate added.
Tons of custom and uniquely tasteful mods – too many to list. “
