Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “All Original numbers matching Willys Jeep. “F” head engine fording system. 24v system that has just been replaced to keep it period correct. This Jeep is a true find. Zero rust. I just completed a restoration of it. All systems have been gone through and all the records to prove it. It runs perfectly. I included some pictures to show restoration. This Jeep was found in Phoenix in 2000.
Recent work includes:
New wiring harness
Installed electric fuel pump to avoid vapor lock
New factory exhaust system
Full paint, including stencils
No detail was overlooked
Two new batteries
This thing is ready for a parade or just drive around with a smile and have people give you a thumbs up.

“Nice little flat fender jeep that runs and drives very well. Been converted to 12 volt flat-head 4 cylinder runs strong; great T90 tranny – doesn’t jump out of 2nd gear like so many others; new items include: tub, fuel tank, fan belt, spark plugs, front bumper, pintle/ball hitch (2″) & upholstery. Tires are in great shape. Make a great hunting rig, farm jeep, parade jeep, toy or whatever.”

“This is a classic!! The first year they made 4 wheel drive for the wagon. It has an overdrive and gets up to 55MPH. Great in sand and snow. It is all original with exception of rear and front directional lights. Needs nothing. Lots of fun. Bought a 1988 Grand Wagoneer so I am not using this one anymore.”

“Lucy is a beautifully restored 1961 Willy’s CJ6 – Complete body off. Motor, Trans, 4wd and pretty ,much everything has been rebuilt. Brakes have been updated to front discs with a dual reservoir master cylinder. All work was done by professional mechanics, body shop, etc. Completely rewire, new glass, brand new period tire. “I am on the fence about posting my favorite vehicle ever…….but its time for me to move on to other things. She’s still running a 6-volt generator system, she has the original style flat head 4 cylinder, T-90 transmission, Dana 18 transfer case with an overdrive, and I also have a pto to go with her just the gear box that attaches to the transfer case and a original style top bows and door frames. Just need to have the original canvas top made.”

Travis spotted this rare Hurst Jeepster Commando model. However, it looks like this one has added gauges in the middle of the dash. (This video shows a stock dash, though the Hurst Badge on the hood appears incorrect). Here are some black and white photos of a HJC.

Has some interesting mods. The engine is a 261 V6? There was another jeep for sale last year(?) that has a similar soft top setup.

(03/04/2018) This has a lift and a replacement body, among other mods.
“1953 Willy’s CJ3B, small block ford, T18 transmission, Dana 20 twin stick transfer case, Dana 44 front and rear with power locks 427 gears runs good the transmission is starting to whine but shifts though all the gears fine. No winch. Extra diamond plated half doors, bikini top 2 new front shocks. Over all in good shape.”

Chad spotted this customized M-38 on a Bring-A-Trailer Auction.
“This 1952 Willys M38 was purchased as a military-spec example by the seller in 1996 and subsequently underwent extensive refurbishment to its exterior sheet metal, tub, frame, brakes, steering, exhaust, and 24-volt electrical system. Power is sent to all four wheels from an L-head 134ci four-cylinder through a 3-speed transmission and 2-speed transfer case, all three of which were rebuilt during the 1990s work. Modifications include a new old-stock military deep-water fording kit as well as modern gauges, lighting, and wheels. This M38 is offered with documentation of the refurbishment, two covers, and a clean Michigan title.”
