“1948 Willys CJ2A all Iowa barn find Missouri title. Jeep has been sitting for 30 years so its not up and running but all original and complete. Was going to be a rebuild project but I only have room for one of the two I have.”
UPDATE: Was on eBay. **SOLD**
This is a one family owned CJ-2A bought new in San Francisco. It’s a column shift. It appears solid. It has an Allstate Half Top.
“This is a 1946 CJ2A that was purchased new by my Grandfather in mid 1946 in San Francisco. It was his only vehicle up until the early 60’s when he bought a Simca which was easier on my Grandmother to get in and out of. I have owned it for 25 years and it last ran 10 years ago when I put in a fresh Carb and a new gas tank. I drove it up under the canopy at my auto restoration shop and it is still there. The engine is NOT stuck and should be easy to start. It is a very easily restorable vehicle and is one of the rare jeeps with the 3 speed shift on the column. Jeep went back to all shifts on the floor later in the model year. The Sears Allstate cab was installed in the early 50’s and I have the original canvas doors as well as some of the rest of the canvas coverings. I also have the original sales contract that will go with the Jeep. I have long wanted to restore this for myself, since I learned to drive on it. However, I have come to the realization that there will never be the money for me to do it, and my son really has no interest in it or a place to keep it when it is done, so it is time to get it into the hands of someone that will re-do it and enjoy it. Pretty much any and all parts that might be needed are available.
Payment will be $100 deposit paid with PayPal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. The remainder needs to be paid with cash or CC within 30 days of the end of the auction. I can keep it right where it sits for 6 months with no charge to you, and if you are not able to handle the restoration yourself, we might discuss my doing it for you. To see what I do, go to buzzardroostmotors.com . Feel free to call me, at 870-421-1693 days or 870-425-8507 evenings to ask any questions you might have. My web site has all my contact info and my email address so you can ask for more pics if you want. I can deliver the Jeep anywhere in the US for $1.25 per mile one way. I am in north central Arkansas.”

“Additional photos and information upon request. Price negotiable. Below Jeep shown in Memorial Day Parade 2010.”
The body of this Jeep is in excellent condition. Engine was rebuilt by excellent mechanics. Water pump is not new but appears to be fine. New thermostat, new starter, generator checks good, new radiator and belts, new springs for a slightly softer ride, transmission and rear-end rebuilt – new seals, etc., new wheel bearings and seals, new tie-rod joints, etc, all lights work except right tail light (have not checked out problem), new wiring harness, 24 volt system.
ISSUES: Carburetor air-wrong pipe between carburetor and air cleaner, grill needs to be adjusted to be vertical, fuel gauge doesn’t work – could be gauge or fuel-sending unit in gas tank (new fuel-sending unit on hand), temperature gauge – installed a new sensor in engine block but it still doesn’t work…gauge? sensor?, Amp meter gauge doesn’t work., 3 data plaques need to be attached (plaques and drive rivets on hand), Brakes-everything is new or rebuilt – new brake lines, new brake master cylinder, new brake cylinders, drums radius ground but still brakes are not as good as they should be – glazed? Hard linings?, Lights – right tail light is not working, Engine timing needs check, Carburetor low speed adjustment needs check, New windshield wiper motors installed but wiper is inoperative – should check valve and connections-could be vacuum pump-may need rebuilt kit?, New tires but wrong size…7:00-16 should be 6:00-16, two small holes in seat covers – daughter stood on seats with high heels during Veterans Day parade-bad move -otherwise all seats are new, emergency brake works but not correctly-wrong brake cable, horn is hooked up but honks constantly-short?, no top canvas or side curtains, I have the 2 original doors but canvas needs replacement. Mileage: 200 miles since rebuild.
Note: I started the project in 1993, to build the M38. I acquired a 1952 CJ5 that had a near perfect body and modified by adding the battery box in the cowl and adding all the hardware to make it identical to a military Jeep. Bought and had a top-noch rebuild on an original engine. Purchased new or very good original accessories such as starter, generator, etc, new paint and markings of the Jeep I used in the Korean War. If the issues I’ve listed were addressed, the Jeep should be identical to a true military issued vehicle. I used the CJ5 Title to license as an antique vehicle.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000
I thought the canopy was interesting. I can’t tell if this runs.
“for sale is a 1957 willys pick up good clean title asking 3000.00”
UPDATE: Back on eBay
(04/19/2013) Not perfect, but runs and drives.
“This 1947 Willy’s Jeep has a lot to offer. The mechanical aspects of the jeep are in great working order. The engine starts easily and performs normally, the transmission shifts normally; the transfer case and four-wheel drive components perform normally. The body is in above average condition but has had some previous patching. The paint I would classify as weak and to make it really nice would need to be sandblasted and repainted. The winch functions normally and has easy inside controls. The tires are in good condition and should provide a lot of great service.”
It’s been in storage 25 years. Looks like a good project.
“1954 Willys M381 A1 Jeep. Ser No: 73321 Date del 3/54. Completely stock & original (except for a 1960’s re-paint to red). All gages are nice. Frame is nice. Tub is decent/workable. Original seats & floormats still in place. Comes with soft-top. Just out of 25yrs of storage / I have made no attempt to start it (24V). $1,600/best cash offer. Please call 207 450 6184. Thank you”
This needs rewiring. Unclear what else it needs. Given the gas container on the bumper, it might need gas tank work.
“military willys from down south. all new drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, and master cylinder. front kingpin bearings replaced and everything was repacked with grease. very complete. changed all fluids. have running and have drove down the road. at the point it could be repainted or drive as it is. lights areunhooked but can be hooked back up. guages need to be rewired. call for more info or to see it in person. 810-95six-285six”
UPDATE: Back on eBay. Also on Craigslist.
“Heres a great 1946 Jeep Willys CJ2A. I found this in a barn north of Sacramento, Where it sat for many years. It has the old black and yellow plates. I dont know much else about it.I have used it to drive around Lake Tahoe, and have maybe put 100 miles on it since i’ve owned it. It is mostly stock i believe, with the exception of the seats, that someone added later. It starts right up and drives really really well. The brakes are soft, so it probably needs a brake job.It also drips some oil i think from the rear seal. The only rust i can find is a small spot on passenger floor, about the size of a quarter. Also i’m not sure if the windshield is original,it came with two of them (different styles), so the buyer will get both you see in the pics. It is located in Lake Tahoe, CA.”
It runs and advertises beer.
“I have a CJ5 willy for sale I started it with starting fluid and a good jump . Has a plow. Tires are good all n all its in good shape for its year. I’ve owend it for at least 15 years. The body looks rough around the steps.
“Mostly original with a Chevy steering column and a Chevy steering box—also a chevy alternator, not running at present.

“1953 WILLYS Cj3B – For sale is a 1953 Cj3B (high hood) Jeep. It is in good running condition. Is in need of some body work and restoration. Comes with a new Best Top. The jeep has military tires and wheels and a F Head 4 cylinder engine. There is some evidence it could have been a military Jeep used by the Navy. Dan spotted this truck.
“For sale is a 1956 Willys Jeep Truck: runs and drives, mechanically sound. Upgraded to 12 volts, with original gauges running on 6 volt regulator. All gauges function perfectly. Four wheel drive works. Original straight-six engine starts and runs like a charm. Original drivetrain. New all-terrain tires; only six months/600 miles.
The bed is rusted through in places, and the floorboards have some small rust holes, but the body is in otherwise good condition: the fenders are a rare commodity, and are all in good shape.
This had been my daily driver for the last few months, but I’m bicycling to work these days. Asking $4000 or best offer. I’ll gladly throw in any spare parts I’ve got, including the set of original rims.”
