“1955 Korean War M38A1 Willy’s Jeep that is in excellent condition. I have receipts, work order, maintenance logs going back nearly 20 years. This jeep has had a lot of time, effort and money invested into it over the years including a full engine overhaul (at a cost of nearly 3.5K– nothing was skimped. Vehicle has approx 2700 miles since engine overhaul. I currently drive the jeep when weather permits in parades and military funerals. The paint is from Quantico U.S. Marine Base and is Marine Chemical Resistant paint approximately 8 years old. Every thing works on the jeep. Gages, horn, lights and has new spark plugs, wires, new radiator and has a very hard to find military antenna. This is a 24 volt system that has 2 new military batteries. This is not a frame off restoration but everything else is 100 percent. All new canvas on seats and top. There is an AM/FM/CD radio
with 9″ speakers mounted in two ammo cans in the rear of the jeep. Five new military tires and tubes”
UPDATE: **Status Unknown** Was $9500.
It’s supposed to have the Willys frame.
“Runs and drives very well with original combat wheels and new tires. This is the rare model with a Willys frame. Here’s a chance to own a rare WWII combat vehicle used by the Army, Marines, Navy and US Air Force or Air Corps during the war.”
There could be some value here.
“I was going to do a frame swap on this Willys, but was advised by Willys “Officianados” not to do it because of it’s year; 1949 was the last year for this style…rounded rear wheel wheels. I had already begun dismantling it, so stopped, and that’s the way its been sitting for several years (inside). I won’t be getting around to it, so it’s for sell.
The F134 motor is locked up, but there’s a running one on CL for $300. 4WD, floor shift. It’s all there, but needs some work.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $7000.
(02/16/2015) Refurbed, yes. Appears solid. Not restored to original.

“1948 Willys two wheel drive pick-up. Pictures show where I picked it up a couple years ago after it had been found sitting for 30 years. I purchased it from the estate of the original owner. We have cleaned it up a bit, and removed some of the small parts anticipating that we would restore it, but we have changed minds and are going a different direction. Original engine is in it….we have not tried to fire it up. Body is in pretty good shape. This will be really nice when fixed up, or easily converted to four wheel drive. More pictures available upon request. Asking $1500 OBO. Open to offers, and may even consider some trades….no junk though.”

“It’s time to pass along one of my favorite trucks to a new owner. I worked on this vehicle with, and eventually purchased it from, the prior owner about a decade ago. The truck is in near show condition. Custom detail inside and out. The interior is amazing. Custom and stunning. This is a show stopper. The only major problem with it, is people want to stop & talk about her every time you park 🙂
It’s time to pass it along to someone who can take it around and show it off. It deserves to be out on the show circuit. Please email me to schedule an appointment to view the vehicle. Only interested parties apply.”

(12/20/2014) Seller believes this is 1 of 300 Marine M-38A1s. While the Marine M-38A1s from 1960-1967 were slightly different from the standard M-38A1, I could not verify how many were ordered. But, I would think it was greater than 300?
“One of only 300 Vietnam era Jeeps made and issued to the U.S. Marines. Complete restoration last year. Motor, transmission, rear end completely rebuilt, as was the suspension, wheel cylinders and brakes. It has a new battery, military tires and wheels, custom camouflage paint job. Converted to 12 volt electrical system, has turn signals, oil pressure, temperature, voltage gauges that are new but look like originals, electric fuel pump. Snorkel and water fording custom exhaust. Best part is a Browning 50 caliber machine gun that uses propane and oxygen to fire up to 7 rounds a second. Was used by a funeral home in Ohio to lead in military funerals and fire a salute. Has a new military issue canvas top and a new rear seat for passengers. This jeep could be hired to local funeral hours at 300-400 dollars per hour for military funerals. I recently retired and am divesting of my 4 military vehicles and other equipment to make money to travel.”
