“47 Jeep Willys with 77,577 miles on it. It was originally my college car here about 4 years ago. It ran when I parked it there but didn’t want to start when I turned it over here a day or two ago. I completely built the rear end, new starter, new carb, as well as purchased an alternator and mounting bracket for that as well. Rear seats are in better condition than the front seats. I have the old carb, old starter, as well as a spare tire and spare tire bracket. I am assuming someone who knows what they are doing could have this thing running within an hour.”

“Its not perfect but in better shape than some ive come across. It does run and drive though I’ve only taken it short distances. Ive rewired it, lights work. All new brake lines and hoses, brake cylinders and master brake cylinder as well. I had the head off and lapped the valves, new Copper head gaskets and head bolts. I robbed the carb and gas tank from my other Willys and they come back off once this is sold. That said I have the original carb for this and it just needs to be either rebuilt or cleaned (kits are $45.00) and I have the original gas tank that can be fixed/repaired. (Actually have 2 repairable tanks) Best offer, no trades. Located just south of the Chrysler Tech Center in Auburn Hills Michigan 248-736-4972.”

The tan body is a CJ-2A, but the frame it’s on is either a very late CJ-2A chassis or a CJ-3A chassis or later.

“SOMEONE CALLED THIS A “REDNECK SPORTS CAR”…ABOUT SUMS IT UP. THIS IS 1948 CJ2A WITH AN EARLY 60’S CORVETTE 283 V8 THAT RUNS WELL. IT DOES HAVE LOUD MUFFLERS ON IT…NOT MY CHOICE BUT THAT’S HOW IT WAS WHEN I BOUGHT IT. IT HAS A MUNCIE 4 SPEED THAT SHIFTS WELL AND A DRUM-REAR, DISC-FRONT SET UP. THE DISCS ARE NEWER FROM KAISER WILLYS AND THE RIMS ARE NEW REPOPS WITH DECENT TREAD ON THE SCHWAB TIRES. THE PREVIOUS OWNER DID A RE-WIRE WITH A “PAINLESS” JEEP SYSTEM THAT WAS FOR A NEW JEEP AND HASN’T BEEN PAINLESS. I HAVE ALL THE NECESSARY THINGS WORKING BUT THERE IS A LOT OF CIRCUITS LEFT IN CASE YOU’RE INTO STEREOS, LIGHTS ETC. IT HAS A NEW BATTERY BUT AFTER 3-4 DAYS IT DRAWS DOWN. I DON’T DO ELECTRIC STUFF SO GUESSING AN ALTERNATOR…BUT IT COULD BE SOMETHING REAL SIMPLE BASED ON WHAT I’VE SAID ALREADY ABOUT THE WIRING HARNESS. ALL THE GUAGES SEEM TO WORK EXCEPT THE GAS…HAVEN’T LOOKED INTO IT, AND MAYBE THAT’S SIMPLE TOO.
THE BACK SEAT IS A TOOL BOX SO YOU CAN RIDE 4 AND STILL HAUL THE NECESSARIES. I CAN ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS. I’VE OWNED IT SINCE LAST FALL, WORKED ON IT THROUGH THE WINTER AND GOT IT GOING ABOUT THE TIME COVED STARTED…SO IT HASN’T BEEN REGISTERED. IF I HANG ON TO IT MUCH LONGER I WILL BUT I’M NOT DRIVING IT EXCEPT TO KEEP IT WARMED UP AND RUNNING AROUND A MILE OR TWO OUT IN THE COUNTRY.
