Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I have been asked to sell what is believed to be a late-40’s CJ-2A.
It has what is believed to be a 318ci V-8 under the hood and appears to be fairly solid for it’s age. It steers and stops, but clearly needs a lot work. I winched it onto a trailer to move it; all tires are dry-rotted.
They are asking $2.5k for this, but are open to offers. It’s located in upstate New York.
I don’t know exact status of the registration, as it was a farm vehicle, stored in a barn or garage most of the time. Too old for a title.
I will take all offers to them to review.
It does not run as it sits (didn’t try to start), and is sold needing restoration in as-is condition.”

“Original ATV. Custom built. Excellent condition. Everything works. Great cabin heater. 1946 frame, undercarriage, jeep stick transmission. Original gearing. Tilt steering wheel. Drives great in all gears. Fiberglass body. Roll Cage. Buick V6. Great mileage. 12 Volt. Dual side exhaust. Sounds great. Locking hubs. Locking chest under rear seat. Excellent Custom Gage’s. Never abused or used as rock climber, only for forest service roads. Has removable tow lighting equipment and fog lights. Excellent rubber. Includes hi lift jack that has never been used. Registered as Collector vehicle. Low miles. Strong running engine.

(01/28/2016) Looks like a good price.
“1946 CJ 2-A Willys in great condition with a Co. title . This jeep has the original flat head 4 cylinder engine, three speed transmission and running gear. It has a Keonig hard top , a rare optional factory driver side heater, a engine heater, a tow bar, new bench seat upholstery , a 20 gallon gas tank. Two Army non directional spare tires on heavy duty mounts It has a new master brake cylinder, new coil , plugs , wires , etc.
It was running but now possibly needs a new timing chain to get her running again .
Finish her up and have a great original jeep! ”

“Throwing around the idea of selling my 2A and building another one. Not dying to sell, leave low ball offers at home. Ill just keep it if I don’t get what I need out of her. Tons of fun. Scratches all over paint (its a jeep). Currently needs throttle cable but I will replace that as soon as I get time.
