Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1950 Willy’s CJ3A. 305 Chevy motor, Turbo 350 transmission with Warn overdrive, 8000 lb winch, full roll cage, power steering, brake booster, complete new body, no rust at all. Has the parabolic mono leaf springs which give added spring travel over stock springs. As close to coil springs as you can get so have fun in the hills. Runs and drives great. Go down the road at 70 miles per hour with the overdrive or put it in 4 low and the 538 grears will take you anywhere you need to go. (04/15/2010) Some of this jeep still has some old school paint touches. The headlight bezels look a little narrower and stick out more than a standard bezel. I’d be interested in seeing some better shots of those.

In early April of 2010, Kurtis found a solid looking, stock 1950 CJ-3A named Ike that he plans to restore to off-the-dealer-floor condition. He’s built a website (http://kurtisfranklin.com/blog/) to chronicle his restoration adventures and recently provided some good details on a V-Cell Radiator.

UPDATE: More pics. Some interesting pics of the custom soft top. Price dropped to $10,000. This also comes with the electric overdrive, which demonstrates you can sneak one of these behind a transfercase in a flattie.

Apparently, this is a Navy CJ-3A. It appears there is a data plate above the standard data plate on the dash that could very well document this. That said, it seems like it should be painted navy colors rather than in a cammo pattern.

This looks very solid. The seller listed this as a ’42.

I just found an earlier posting for this Jeep I had done last year. It was priced at $4600 in July 2009. So, the price has dropped quite a bit. It was listed as a 1952 at that time.
It appears someone has put some money into this build. It looks like it comes with a winch and nice cage. Replacing the brakes is a pretty cheap project. This might be a steal!
“This was confiscated in lieu of debt from an old friend in 2005. The last time it drove was 2006…from Minco to Bridgecreek. It drove GREAT…although it had and still has no brakes. It’s only been started two or three times since then. I’m not mechanically inclined enough (or at all) to get it running to sell for more. It definitely needs a new fuel pump, carbeurator cleaning, plugs, and new lines in and around both…as they spew fuel when running. I believe the gas tank to be the culprit for the fuel problems…its rusted out pretty good. New Tires, Winch, Motor Rebuilt in 2003. Please give me a holler if you’re truly interested. I encourage you to come take a look. I can get a hold of some more pictures if needed.”
