Charles is selling this M-38. He has other vehicles for sale in similar condition that will be shown at the Military Vehicle Collector Show next year in June 2018.
“This rare example of a historic M38 has been professionally restored to “better than new condition.” The history of this U. S. Army Jeep is well known. It was purchased by a U. S. Soldier when both he and the vehicle arrived home to the states from the Korean War. It was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division. The soldier who purchased this jeep couldn’t get a Greyhound bus ticket so he bought this jeep to make his way home to Wisconsin. My father is the 3rd private owner of this vehicle.
As you can see from the pictures, this jeep has been appropriately outfitted with restored and working communications equipment. It includes antennas, a windshield canvas cover, first aid kit, tool kit, full canvas top, curtains, doors and bows.
Must see to appreciate the detail put into this restoration.
Asking $23,500 as described. Please contact Charles at 502-896-2303 during normal business hours. Please, serious inquiries only. Title in hand.”

“Early 50’s Willys Jeep M-38 project
I am not going to be able to finish this Jeep as I had hoped so I am selling it.
It has a 231 v-6 engine that has the HEI ignition. I have run the engine with pouring fuel down the carb and jumper wires, it sounded good and started right up.
It has a T-14 3 speed trans mission, and a single lever M-18 transfercase. the engine- trans assembly probably all came from a 70’s jeep.
It has a complete Rancho suspension, Rancho shocks and springs with about 2” lift and heavy duty Con-Ferr shackles
It has the one piece tie rod modification for better steering
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7777.
Might be a good price.
“Nicely restored and original 1952 Willys Military Jeep in Ordinance Green. Manual transmission with low range too. Everything works, looks good and is fun to drive. The attached photos will show you all you want to know about this Jeep.”
Listed as an M-38, it looks more like a replacement body on a CJ-3A-like frame. There’s no hinge for the grille and no battery box.
“Jeep runs great. Starts right up every time
4cyl but not stock. It is some type of gm 4cyl I think.
New tires
New seats
Good glass
Needs steering bolted down. Its in but needs to be made solid. And needs lights reconnected. And trans cover and gass pedal put in. And that is it. Im pretty sure it can be driven onto a trailer as it sits. But has to be all bolted up to be driveable on road
I have all thats needed to finish.
Take it cheap now or as i finish things the price will rise. Either way is fine with me bc i am in no hurry.
I will not bargain on price.
. trades considered”
UPDATE: Still Available.
(03/18/2017) Looks solid.
“Very solid rig looks to be a 70’s-80’s resto.
Odd fire 231 V6 headers and ignition upgrade to HEI
Other than the motor its the stock running gear.
Turns lots of heads and is a joy to drive or 4×4… makes my 4runner seem like its 2 wheel drive.
It could definitely use the steering upgrade.”
Has a few updates.
“Newer tires , Canvas top with Frame , Detailed engine and drive train, Purchased from the original owner Manual and Complete shop manual included , 4×4 works great , 3 speed with overdrive. No rust
In 1950, Willys introduced the M-38 (identified as an “MC” by Willys), a post-WWII Jeep based on the CJ-3A and fitted will military-specific features, including a one-piece foldable windshield, bottom-mounted wipers, a pintle hook for towing, lifting shackles, and a fuel filler on the drivers side. Pioneer tools (axe and shovel) were mounted on the passenger side, and larger tires were used (7:00×16) along with a waterproof electrical system, requiring a second battery. The M38 suspension and frame were stronger than that of its civilian sibling (the CJ-3A) and had a full-floating rear axle.”
Looks like a solid M-38.
