Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Craig spotted this one. There’s some jeep underneath. If it is really a ’53, it must be a CJ-3A or 3B. An M-38A1 would have the front springs reversed.

“I have a steel half cab for a cj5. It’s in pretty good shape overall with doors and brackets. Has a little rust out in the lower lip that attaches to the floor. “For sale is a vintage aluminum hard top and doors for a Jeep Willys CJ3A. Hard top and doors were painted camo by the previous owner. I got them with the Jeep, but decided to go with a soft top instead. So, I’m selling the hard top and doors. I hate to part with them because they are really hard to find, but I don’t think I have a use for them anymore. They will need some repairs, a new paint job, and the glass should probably be replaced, but everything is in relatively good condition. A good starting point for your project. I believe these were originally sold by Sears company back in the day. Not something you see every day”

“The picture with me in it is when we bought it. The drive train is there. It is partially dismantled, as seen in the photos. Everything is there to get it on the road. Fenders, hood, tailgate, blinkers, headlight assemblies, roll bar, seats. Previous owner said the motor is a 283. Body has some dents and dings, but overall very solid. I think we still have wheels.”

“It is hard to determine what type of vehicle this is – a truck, or an SUV, or something special. It is a one of a kind. Its foldable tarp roof makes it a great summer vehicle, strong heater warms it up nicely in winter time. Its fuel economy is phenomenal for a 4×4 vehicle – around 33 MPG.
In 1979 LUAZ was recognized as one of the best vehicles for country dwellers at an International automotive exhibition in Czech Republic. Indeed, LUAZ was intended to be a vehicle of choice for countryside and people living there – foresters, farmers. However, throughout almost 40 years of production, only slightly over 200,000 vehicles were made. This is one of the reasons why this car is so rare.
This 1990 LUAZ 969M is a one-owner vehicle (you can still see original USSR plates on it) that has been rarely used, never involved in any accidents, and never winter driven. All this is very rare for a 4×4 vehicle that was built to go fishing and hunting all year round. A very unique find! Despite its age, it is in like-new condition, and it will take you to numerous outdoor trips, to the most remote places.

“Truck is mostly all there but needs a lot of body work. Not running.
To answer a few questions, there is no title, I can write a bill of sale. I don’t know when it was last on road, found this in a barn a few years ago and it had been there for at least 20 years. Frame is solid as is everything underneath, rear crossmember is dented, rear weight is there.”
