Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1946 Willys CJ-2A. Notes: WILLY’s!!!! This is a 1946 Willy’s CJ2A Rock Crawler. This thing is cool. It has a well built Chevy 350 Motor with a 4 Speed Manual Transmission. This thing is sitting on 1 ton axles with a welded rear and locked front and 38″ Super Swampers. This thing has some serious get up and go. Like most older Jeeps, it is a work in progress and needs some finishing touches, but it runs and drives and is ready for some fun the way it sits. If you want to get some serious attention around town or in the hills, this one will get it for you.”

I stumbled upon a website that celebrates old articles from the town of Walla Walla, Washington, just forty-five minutes east of me. At some point the local newspaper ran a series of articles titled “Heap of the Week”. However, one week they changed the title to “Jeep of the Week”.
This old photo from the South Dakota Department of Agriculture shows a CJ-2A with a 100 gallon tank mounted in the rear at or near Custer State Park. It appears there may be another tank across the cowl. Unfortunately, the photo isn’t very large.

Complete Frame Off Restoration!
For sale is a WW2 1943 Ford GPW delivered in June of that year. It is a ground up restoration. Rebuilt engine, transmission, axles, brakes, new wiring, F bolts throughout, Ford safety glass, new Beachwood Canvas. Engine matches frame, a full show quality restore. Everything Repaired or replaced. Comes with all British mods, racks, rifle clips, spare mount, take off steering wheel, trailer outlet, pumpkin spot lite and road markers, Jerry cans and tools. Oil can, crank handle, tool roll with tools. 150 miles on rebuilt engine/trans. Runs and drives great, all gauges work. Has five new tires and tubes on combats rims, no expense was spared and a lot of time and love went into her. Heads turn when take her out! You can drive her on the highway 60+, no shakes, or climb the mountains and back roads with ease. She will definitely be a winner at the car shows! This was the last year that Willys made Jeeps before selling to Kaiser. Search the web and you will not find another as top notch as this one. I am a retired, disabled vet and I have loved this Willys; I would like for her to go to someone who truly appreciates how rare she is and that will take care of her. The reason I am selling my Willys is due to my health.”

Engine ran when stored. Seller has the A1s confused with the M-38s. Ford only produced 2,135 M-38s in Canada. Ford produced many more M-38A1s in three lots through 1971: M-38A1 CDN, M-38A1 CDN2, M-38A1 CDN3.

This jeep needs some work, but when your done it will diffidently be a show stopper and collectors dream come true. The engine ran before it was last parked in storage.
