1951 M-38 Plymouth, MN **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: M-38 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: WAs $2500. **SOLD**

It’s got some floor board holes and more issues.

We used it up around our cabin for many years. We sold the cabin three years ago and brought the Jeep home and put it in our barn. We now realize that while it is very cool – we aren’t going to use it.

The bad:
– The driver and passenger floors have rust holes. They are from before we owned it. They have been primered and are not rotting. The Jeep has been garaged for the last 10+ years.
– The front passenger fender is bent.
– We tried to move it last year and while it did start and run great – we found the clutch plate rusted to the flywheel. We’re not sure what it will take to free it.
– It pops out of 2nd if you slow down without holding it in gear.
– I gave about 30 seconds of effort to start the jeep this year and had no luck. No fuel was getting to the electric fuel pump. Looks like the rubber lines might be cracked and the pump is sucking air or could be something else. We’re hoping to find someone who likes to tinker with that stuff to sell it to.
– The steering is not tight

The good:
– It did drive into the barn where it is parked and we were driving it on the road at the time
– It is in good shape overall – far from a basket case
– It has warn winch
– It has a cargo rack on back
– All of the original army plaques and tags are present
– It shouldn’t take too much work to get it back on the road
– It is a ton of fun, gets attention everywhere it goes and until we stopped using it, was very reliable.”

1948 CJ-2A Lyons, OR $800

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

No pics provided.

1948 CJ2A Jeep Willys. It does not have a transmission but everything else appears to be there. Has a motor but have never heard it run. I do not want to go through the hassle of parting it out so ill let somebody take it out of here for $800. I know it is worth more than that in parts so the right guy can make some serious cash off it. The body seems to be pretty free of rust considering its age. No title and will need to be towed or trailered out of here. It rolls and steers just fine. Call or Text any time. Please no dumb offers. $800.”

1946 CJ-2A Essexville, MI $1300

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

It’s a project.

For Sale are several items. First is a 1946 Jeep CJ2A. This Jeep has a 4.3L V6 in it. Extra parts the Jeep has are as follows: two windshields (one solid, one that splits in half), two aluminum doors, home made bumpers, two hoods, two steering columns, extra front and rear axle, two extra transmissions and transfer cases. Old set of tires and rims. I was planning a disk conversion and have a new XJ pedal assembly with a new clutch and brake master cylinder (the old is still attached, have a new master cylinder for that also). I also have the seats out of an XJ for this Jeep. I also have a new aluminum radiator. Unfortunately, it is mostly in parts right now, the body and motor/transmission are on the frame, but it is not in running order. Asking $1300 (this vehicle has a title).

Separately, I have an unused Rancho 2.5 inch lift kit for a CJ2A with RS-5000 shocks and the swing shackles (these were extra, not included in the kit). Asking $550 (firm) for the entire kit (has 4 springs, 4 shocks, swing shackles and hardware).

Lastly, I have a set of Advance Adapters Jeep outside frame rail headers (PN 717019-HDR, one is painted black, the other is still bare steel, also have the gaskets). These are also unused. Asking $250 for these (firm).”

Needs a few parts.

It missing the radiator and need a battery but other than that it’s all there. The engine is free and will turn over with a battery hooked up to it. It is a former army jeep and the title has been lost over time. Would make a great restoration project I just don’t have the time for it right now. Parting Willys Wagon Wilmore, KY

• CATEGORIES: Bantam-FordGP-WillysMA-EarlyJPs This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Tim forwarded this parts rig.

I’m getting ready to scrap an old 1948 or 1949 Willys station wagon. There isn’t much on it that is any good at all, except for the desirable Overdrive transmission. It I’m pretty sure the trans is a T-96 model. The trans is still in the car, and you will have to remove it yourself.

Want to buy the transmission?
Bring your tools and $75 cash.

Want to buy the whole car?
Bring a trailer, your own wheels and tires and $76 cash.

Want to buy the whole Willys and the dolly that it is sitting on?
Bring your own wheels and tires and $425 cash?

Just to be perfectly clear, there is no way that the wheels and tires are going with this. I need them for another vehicle. The wheels are 5 bolt with a 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern, the same as Ford Rangers, Crown Victorias, Mercury Marquis, etc.”

Lee’s decided to sell his CJ-2A.

“This is a 1947 CJ 2 A. This Jeep was bought new  in Calif.by the Edison Co.  and used for four years and then sold. My friend bought it from the Edison Co. in Calif. and then took it up to his cabin in the Sierra mountains and used it.  It was stored in a shed when not used. Then it was moved  to his hangar and stored and that is where it is now.  That was 49 years ago! I am the third owner since new. I have owned this Jeep for over 8 year. This Jeep has very little rust. I had the rims  sand blasted and painted and installed 5 new tires and tubes.

Jeep Rustling by the Navy

• CATEGORIES: Artists/Drawings, Features, Old News Articles This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This article shares some of the jeep rustling that went on during WWII. One of protections against rustling that I’ve encountered is that driver’s would grab the rotor from the distributor to keep other military folks from stealing their jeeps.

Note that the ice cream story from yesterday has expanded to five gallons!

Jeep lashed to Submarine Deck

• CATEGORIES: Features, Old News Articles This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Yesterday I featured an ad that related a story about jeeps lashed to the decks of Submarines.

This article was published in the February 10, 1944 issue of the Eugene Register Guard:

1944-02-10-eugene-register-submarine-jeep

I found this article on page 5 of the January 10, 1944, edition of the Southeast Missourian Newspaper:

1944-01-10-jeep-lashed-to-deck

And from page 2 of the February 10, 1944, issue of the Spokane Daily Chronicle:  1944-02-10-jeep-lashed-to-deck

And, on a note of trivia, I found this gem at an archived site:

In World War II, Burton Baskin of Baskin Robbins fame, was a quartermaster who began his ice cream career by trading a jeep for an ice cream freezer

Now, I don’t know if that’s true as I couldn’t verify it anywhere else, but a fun fact if true.

The date on this photo is January 1950. If so, these guys are part of the fight against China rather than Japan. Therefore this is more likely a WWII photo.

It’s got a few issues, but runs and drives.

I have for sale a 1982 AMG Jeep DJ 5. It is right hand drive and has large, sliding doors — making it perfect for use as an icecream truck or something like that. It is also just a cool car in general. Definitely unique, definitely turns heads on the street (and that was before the paint job!). It runs well and is really fun to drive. However, it does have a couple issues too: the electronics are funky. The lights and gauges work off-and-on. I also only have the keys for ignition and driver-side door. The engine was rebuilt a few years ago and is still in very good shape.

I will also be including with the car a set of four studded tires (good condition) and (if you want it) a collection of misc parts and equipment for the car.”
