Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “THIS IS A TRUE 1948 WILLY’S-OVERLAND JEEPSTER. THIS VEHICLE HAS A ‘GO-DEVIL’ 4-CYLINDER ENGINE WITH A REBUILT CYLINDER-HEAD, A 3-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION WITH OVERDRIVE AND A NEW CLUTCH. IT HAS A REBUILT STARTER. IT IS ALL THERE AND IN GOOD SHAPE, BUT NEEDS ‘TLC’. THE CANVAS TOP IS IN GOOD SHAPE. I HAVE THE ‘SIDE CURTAINS’ BUT THEY COULD STAND TO BE REDONE. “This jeep was under construction for installing a V8 engine. No radiator, no engine included. Not butchered up, not bad rust wise. No title, sold as is with a bill of sale. If you are wanting to put it back with the 4 cylinder engine, I have some available for purchase separately.

I don’t know just how rare these brochures are, but this is currently priced at $93 and there’s already a bid! The vehicles were only built between 1952 and 1954, so I’m not sure there was a 1955 brochure?

This hasn’t run in a while, but it does have both a rare dualmatic overdrive & an even rare sticker on the dash.
“I am selling my 1950 Jeep CJ-3a, civilian model, with 52,000 miles. We are moving and it needs to be sold. It has not run in about 5 years, but my dad drove it pretty often before that. He said he needed to work on some part of the engine, but he didn’t think it was anything major. He never got around to it before he passed away. The body has a few spots of surface rust, but I went over the entire thing and there is no major rust anywhere. The body is in great shape. The seats are original and you can see that it’s been garage/barn kept for the past 20-30 years (at least). It belonged to my grandfather until his death in 1988. There is a cut-down soft top for it that covers the front seats, but it has been modified because the original top was in bad shape. I have some replacement parts that my dad collected over the years as well. I also have the title which is clear.”

Both jeeps include rare Blue Star Aluminum Tops. One jeep runs and one doesn’t. I thought these jeeps were for sale on eBay at one point.

“For Sale: 1962 Willys Pickup 4×4 – original Hurricane 6 cylinder engine – runs strong – $7500.00 obo
3 speed transmission, new battery, new radiator, new starter, has heater and defroster, brake booster, electric fuel pump, larger fuel tank.
Bed is in good shape, diamond plate floor – truck needs paint job, needs seat redone.
Have window felts that need to be installed.
A solid original truck, great for a restoration project.

This looks like it was stretched.
“For your consideration, 1942 army jeep made by Ford motor company. 4 cylinder Willy ‘s flathead with recent overhaul. New battery/ starts & runs great. New army seats & gas tank to install- has aluminum tank in rear bed now. Five nice tires, minimal rust. Previous owner applied some bondo over good metal. Master cylinder has been removed. I’ve cleaned it & it appears ready to re-install. Rebuild kit is only $20. Also, previous owner said brakes & hubs are in good shape. Transfer case (4 wheel drive) operates quietly. O.E.M. Gas Tank & Seats are worth $1,000.00. I’m NOT a mechanic, ready to bail out at a loss. First $2,500.00.”

I am moving and no longer in need of a jeep. It does have a broken leaf spring which should be easily repairable. Also, snowplow operates, but needs work. (Missing 2 springs). The body’s been patched a bit. It’s listed as a 1948, but also listed as a CJ-3A.
