Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This photo shows Joan Rogers sitting in the jeep she used to pass a driving test. She found the jeep ‘great fun’. She lived in London during WWII, serving in the Royal Army Pay Corp before being selected for officer training at the Women’s Royal Army Corps. “What you are looking at is a 1950 Willys M38 (MC) military Jeep. These Jeeps were used during the Korean war era. This Jeep has been motor-pool restored and is in near perfect condition. It has been converted to a 12 volt system for the convenience of finding parts locally. I installed a left hand tail light on the right side to make it easier for other drivers to see for safer driving. Drives great. Original 134L engine runs strong with great oil pressure! Original T-90 transmission shifts like new! Older replacement Body tub. No bondo. All metal. Fuel gauge and e-brake are not operational and could use windshield wiper blades. Four wheel drive works as it should! Tires are Nos mud and snow grips that I found in a warehouse and are in good shape. Clear title. It is a hop in and go piece of U.S. history. All you see on the Jeep goes with the Jeep. I will repair anything that may need replacing for a 6 month period as long as the Jeep and the parts to make the repair are both brought to me to do so.

“I’m not hurting on this at all! With us looking to buy a a home this year and financial progress on hold until that is done, I am considering selling the willys hot rod for the $4200 I have in it. That’s as a roller with good motor/ trans, but still needing nickel and dime parts. I’ll finish it if I don’t sell it once we have our own place but it’s money that could be used else where for now. It does not run or drive right now, still needs finishing. Brakes, cooling system, plumbed, rear coil overs or airbags, paint, steering work, paneling to cover rear… Hopefully this will weed out some of the tire kickers and “serious buyers.”

This is not in the best of condition, but it is unusual.
“Up for auction is a brightly patterned tropical shirt featuring images of Jeeps, vans, trucks and woody wagons. There are palm trees, surfboards and smiling dogs also featured. The shirt is used and made of 100% cotton, so it is faded from washing and may have shrunk even though the tag says Size Large. It has short sleeves and a polo-shirt like button-up front opening. This shirt will look equally good worn by a man or a woman. ”

“One of 1500 experimental vehicles authorized by the U.S. government, and built by Ford Motor Co in early 1941, prior to our involvement in WWII, when Bantam BRC and Willys MA also competed for the contract, eventually awarded to Willys, who built hundreds of thousands of the standardized ¼ ton 4×4 military jeeps. Restored to its current condition in 1994. Runs beautifully. Stored in Cecil, WI, asking; $8,900.”
