Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. It doesn’t run at the moment, but seller hopes to have it running soon. Looks like it has some character to me.
“1954 Willy’s Jeep. Last driven in 1999. I believe it needs a 2nd gear synchro, because it liked to pop out of 2nd gear. I hope to have it running again in a couple of weeks. ( I have to get the carb back on.) Has some broken glass, the seats are rough, but it has very little rust. The hydraulic plow worked well. US Army #20987240.”

“Up for sale is our 1957 Jeep FC170, forward control. This was to be a project for my son and I but the body work is over our head. This truck is highly collectible and complete, everything is here including a new windshield and service manual. This is a 4wd vehicle with locking hubs in the front. The engine is the 6 cylinder with a 4 speed manual transmission and 2 speed Dana Spicer transfer case.
This would make a great father and son project, or can be used for parts. The body is extremely rusty and will need extensive work. I’ve attached as many photos as possible so that you can see everything.
We would consider a trade for something of equal value, possibly another Jeep CJ, Wrangler, Land Cruiser, Trooper, MG, sports car, Triumph, or other 4×4.”

“This is a 1947 Marine Jeep Trailer made by Banta. Trailer is in complete working order. As expected, a few small dents and rust spots. Hitch has been replaced to be used by a normal vehicle. Wiring has been refurbished and is in great shape.”

UPDATE III: Mike alerted me that some of these pics are now on an ebay auction. Person selling it is listed as brand new profile on Jan 19, 2014. I see no reason to doubt it is still a scam. It has been reported as potentially fraudulent.

UPDATE: John looked into this scam and received the following email. It appears this seller is likely running the Google Wallet Scam (which I’d never heard of).

This jeep was completely taken down, sandblasted, and all of the rust was cut out and replaced with new metal. This jeep has been completely gone threw. The engine has a two year warranty. The Firestone tires, wiring harness, spare data plates, gas tank, tail lights and horn are all new replacements and are 100% correct. The jeep is still its original 6 volt configuration. The seat covers are new . All of the combat rims are strait originals. The battery is brand new and this jeep starts, drives, shifts and stops with no problems at all . I legally own a clear title, free of any liens or loans, under my name. Not interested in a trade and my final price is $4,500. Just want to sell it ASAP, I am using Google Wallet as my ex-wife suggested, she also sold her car, without any headaches! This is a nice looking rig.
“Must see in person to truly appreciate ( i know everyone says that but i serious), color is not as overwhelming, and truck really is sweet.
Up for auction a 1947 CJ2a show or go Jeep, this jeep has been in many local shows and has taken home loads of hardware for being so unique and in such great condition. Restoration completed about 3 years ago with only 500 miles since restoration. 95% of this jeep is new, from the engine and transmission to the rear axle spindles and bearings and gears of the rear end with all receipts to prove it, even minor components such as cowl weatherstripping and fuel tank neck grommets have been replaced…..outside of the dana 18 transfer case and front axle, and front drive shaft, pretty much everything else has been replaced with new upgraded components!!!
