Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1950 willys m38 army jeep. this is not factory. it has a chevy sb (265 from 1956 was what was told have not ran the block code) has eldelbrock carb and intake, old style distributor with electronic ignition added, headers and dual exhaut ran all the way back, all new suspension, 4 in lift, with 37.5 x12.5 wrangler mts like new, all but one front axle has been redone, has a s-10 steering column and manual box for steering. 538 gears, with a double throw transfercase, original 3 speed trans. , all of the wiring has been redone, the whole body was redone about 12 years ago. it was done right but not stored well after. it does have a few spots of surface rust but nowhere major and very few spots. no tire kickers.”
Hard to tell much due to the small pic. I’m not sure what airplane shocks are?

“Here is a description of the Willys that is for sale:
1. Engine is a Buick 231
2. 2 tanks one under the seat and one in the back. Approx 20 gals total
3. Minor rust on the back panel and near the drain hole both on the passenger side.
4. Tires are 33″ Mud King. I am not sure of their age but the Willys has been in the garage for the past 6 years.
5. no back seat
6. transfer case is set up for 2h, 2l, n, 4h, 4l
7. AC compressor has been converted into a air compressor
8. The seats are out of an RX7
9. 3 speed transmission
10. It is not a perfect Willys it needs work but they always do.”

“I have a 1951 jeep willys M38 for restoration. I bought the vehicle and it ran and drove. I planed on restoring it but relized i do not have the time so it is completely tore down. The body is very solid for a 1951. It has a V6 that runs strong. All parts are there for a complete jeep. “For sale or trade. 1946 CJ2A Willys Jeep body fenders hood windshield tailgate grill and frame only. No title. Body and parts are rough but can be used. Needs the typical rust repairs,it has the original floor under steel plate but not sure of its condition. Frame is in great shape with front horns intact and not hacked on. The guy I bought the frame from stored it behind his barn and the front passenger side sat in the dirt and has rust thru should be an easy fix . I have a spare frame section to repair that area. I was going to make a trail jeep but have since purchased a M37 and will be focused on restoring it. The pictures of the complete jeep are before it was dismantled just to show its overall condition. BEST OFFER or TRADE for M37 parts.”

(08/02/2012) The seller doesn’t say, but I believe this is titled a 1941 based on the frame. It sounds like a solid little jeep.

Dana 18 transfer case. Lifted with Rancho springs & shocks. BFG 33″ tires. Best Tiger Top with low back Best top seats. Rear tumble seat. Upgraded 15 gallon gas tank in rear with 4″ LED brake lights. Mark, Bob, and Sebastian all reported that Saturday’s weather wasn’t the best, with either rain or threats of rain. Still, there was plenty of to do and many jeeps to photograph. The most photographed vehicle seems to be the Concept FC. There are many fans of that rig.

One of the arguments for the Parkway conversion is that the delivery wagon “can now be registered as a suburban vehicle, which grants it access to boulevards and other zoned sections where commercial vehicles are not allowed.”

Buz spotted this one. It is a no-reserve auction on a beautiful, stock CJ-5. You’ll want to look at the pics of this one. Compare the picture of it to the brochure below in the next post, too.
“Selling for my computer inept friend. This 1960 Willys Jeep CJ5 is in Beautiful Original Condition, probably the nicest original CJ5 in existence. Totally Original Paint, Upholstery, Engine, Miles, Everything is ORIGINAL. 21055 miles. Clear Title. Original Spare Tire is not shown in the pictures but is included in the sale. The tires are believed to be the originals and are in good shape with normal wear and no weather checking. The Jeep has been stored in a carefully climate controlled building and has seen just enough use in the last many years to keep everything functional and working well. The Jeep starts easily, runs perfectly, goes down the road as it should, and it needs nothing. The Hardtop appears to have never been removed since new. All fluids are fresh and the battery is new. Look closely at the pictures, they tell the story about this vehicle better than words, more detailed pictures are available if you request them via email. The Jeep shows very minimal use and wear with no damage or repairs. All sheet metal is in oustanding condition and the only corrosion is very minimal, located near the tailights on both sides, the pictures show this clearly. Gerald wrote, “Well we got things started this year. I worked on setting up a Jeeps Thru The Decades display. one of each Jeep model. My 3B and brothers M-38 in in the group. Here are a couple shots from the grounds. The Underground Jeep guys have brought all their stuff. Boy they are nice and the Jeep Invasion on Main street was this evening. It was a show not a parade.”
