Gerald forwarded some pics from Friday at the Bantam Festival.

Gerald wrote, “Well we got things started this year. I worked on setting up a Jeeps Thru The Decades display.  one of each Jeep model.  My 3B and brothers M-38 in in the group.  Here are a couple shots from the grounds.  The Underground Jeep guys have brought all their stuff.  Boy they are nice and the Jeep Invasion on Main street was this evening.  It was a show not a parade.”

“Fully restored Mil-Spec, Historically Correct in every way. Meuseum Level Restoration. Delivered to Dept. of The Army in May 1952, Serial # 68944. Has the Original Engine restored back to original displacement, Even has the original Horn restored, Has all Accesories- First Aid Kit, Fire Extinguisher, Tool Kit (complete), Jack & crank handle, All TM’s (Army Technical Manuals) originals ..not reprints, in the correct Document Bag, Deep Water Fording Kit, Beachwood Canvas throughout including Web Straps, Winter Top, Side Curtains, Doors,etc. Has currently installed a 1919 A4 Browning Machine Gun Dummy on the Correct M-31 Pedistal with all accessories. Commander Antenna Mast Bases and Radio hook-up. I have Command Radios which are avialable with their original Manuals.
This jeep Won at the MVPA (Military Vehicle Preservation Association) 1997 Convention for the ‘Post War Restored Class 1st Place’. It won 1st place award “Commander’s Choice’ , korean War, at ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND in 1999, and a total of 13 other awards and trophy’s before I stopped entering it in judgeing competitions. It has been written up in th ‘Cherokee Tribune Newspaper May 5, 2006, page 1-D, Title ‘American Armor’. It also has been in the MVPA 1999 Calendar for Febuary (Very Difficult to Get In). This Jeep represents the ‘BEST of THE BEST’ for M38’s. PLEASE”

Original Russian tires.  Vehicle is in running condition and all electrical items appear to operate correctly.  Spare parts are readily available from many European sources. 1976 four-door model.  VIN 71202153.  Vehicle has clear USA state title. One is complete minus a trans and transfercase, ’53 with padded rollcage, has buick V6 motor in it, still on wheels and axles, brand new windshield, bucket seats, big tires, ran up until two weeks ago. I keep a tarp on seats to protect from weather. Motor does run but needs rebuilding, have AZ title for this jeep. Also have a jeep cab on rolling chassis (original wheels). I have lots of extra parts; flat fenders, grills, leaf springs, hoods,etc..too many to list! Some pictures are included.”

“I have for sale a 1958 Willys Jeep FC 170 Forward Control 3/4 ton pickup with a 9 foot bed. Very cool old 4 x 4! This would be a one of a kind truck once you got her done! That’s the good news. The bad news is, it needs quite a bit of work. I was told by the previous owner that the engine had just been rebuilt and then reinstalled but that’s where the project was abandoned. I have not had the time to mess with it so it has not been running since I’ve had it. It appears to be all original and mostly complete as well but it will need a new back window and one of the sides which I was quoted about $150 for the pair. I do have one replacement door glass and several other small unique parts that will go with it. It does roll so no problem to load it. I do have a clear title on the way from the DMV so there won’t be any paperwork issues. Come check it out! I am also a gun dealer so I’ll accept fireams in trade as well as tools, old cars, parts, or other cool stuff. ”

“Up for sale is my 1943 ford gpw army jeep. I got it from a friend about 3 years ago, but haven’t done anything with it, so it needs to go to a new home. He had started restoration on it, but had stopped due to other interests.It is partially disassembled and would need a full restoration. The body was sandblasted and the metal is nice. You would look for quite some time to find sheetmetal on a gpw as solid as this one is.The engine block and head are marked gpw., and most of the sheetmetal parts are marked “F”. The engine turns over, and before I bought it i pulled the head to see what condition the motor was in. The cylinder walls were good with little wear. Most of the parts are there. The price is $5000 cash, or I would be willing to trade for a 1930-31 model a ford coupe in comparable condition. No lowballers or tire kickers please as I know what the gpw’s are going for right now. If it was an mb it would be worth a third less. If interested call (806)372-9033. Here’s a rare letter that advertises woodie kits from Station Wagons, Inc, for CJ-2A and MB/GPW models.  This 2 page letter shows both a full and a half cab.  Below the two page letter is an example of an ad that appeared in Popular Mechanics.

Popular Mechanics Ad from the January 1948 issue of Popular Mechanics, pg 266.  This ad appeared in the February 1948 issue as well. I haven’t done a full accounting to determine how many other issues had the ad.

This is a true ‘shed’ find.

“1947 CJ2A JEEP … This old boy has been “shedded” indoors for 32 years.
All Original Parts, Right Off the Farm/Ranch. A Project In Waiting!
I bought it at an auction ( north of Chinook, Montana) because the body was sound and all the parts, except the seats, were there . I thought that I needed it to restore my own 1947, making one whole jeep out of two. That project never got a good start. The body has been welded on in places, the soft top is there, including the doors, but the plastic windows are all clouded. The four tires are old ( with tubes) and there is some damage on the inside rear fender wells that can be straightened out with a porta-pack. Having not run for 32+ years, it is a project/restore job for someone, and it’s prices accordingly! I have other pictures … by request. Thank you.”
