1947 CJ-2A Dix Hills, NY eBay

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This looks solid, but needs a little bit of work.

“1947 CJ 2A, bought 10 years ago from a farmer who painted the tub and did minor mechanical work to the jeep. Since owned I have replaced the following parts:

Crate Go devil engine with less then 500 miles on it since installation
Transmission ( 3 speed)
clutch
gas tank
radiator/ fan/ belt
4 new 16 inch tires
4 new 16 inch rims
all new brakes
new Brake Master cylinder
new parking Brake
2 re built front locking hubs
3 new pedals
1 new steering wheel
horn
4 new leaf springs
4 new shocks
new rear seat
new converter to 6v to 12v
windshield wipers 2
new exhaust system

Jeep is 100 percent road ready and off road ready, 4×4 works perfectly in high and low. Engine runs perfectly no smoke lots of power.

The Body has not been touched since I purchased it 10 years ago, it is painted Red and has some signs of rust under the paint and a few small dents and dings, The frame is straight.
All body lights work along with headlights and brake lights.

The jeep is a CJ 2A ( has ID tags) with one exception the farmer I bought it from put a Cj 3a windshield frame on it. The glass in the frame has been replaced with new glass and new wipers were installed the wipers work off compression of the motor.

The Tub itself from the outside is in fair shape, the seats are newly covered and have no ware or tare . The floor in the tub is plated and the seats are NOT mounted correctly as per the year and model.

This jeep is 100 percent mechanically good to go. I have no more time to put into this jeep, it has been garage kept since I bought it.”

1942 GPW Phoenicia, NY **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB) • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay. It really is a unique jeep.

“For your consideration, a nice 1942 Ford GPW jeep. Body is in nice shape structurally, although someone built a quality homemade roof out of thick metal on the body. Unfortunately, they cut down the body sides and middle of rear on original tub to accommodate the doors. Looks very professional, maybe was done in the service? ..I was told by original owner that it was surplused out and bought in this exact condition.  I Have seen in books some similar conversions done in Europe after the war, to make the open jeep more comfortable…and useful. Would make a great reeinactors vehicle. Looks like a mini ambulance body. Rear floors and wheel wells are really nice shape. There is no rust in the back, looks like it had never been in the elements.
Floors are original, and very good except for a couple tin plates on the front, although there is original metal underneath.
Excellent original data plates, and dash, also windshield is very clean.
Frame is quite nice and is not rusted thru, just surface rust all over underneath. Needs a good sandblasting.   The front gussets are mostly there, and with some grinding, the welded on reinforcement material can be removed without damaging the original frame.
Non – original, but well running Cj2a engine. Original t84 transmission and rest of drivetrain. Springs are original “ford” type in good condition on all four corners.
4 very good shape combat wheels are on the jeep. Also has nice ford radiator, air cleaner and lots of ‘f’ marked bolts. Has 2 ‘F’ marked seats in the front (pass. not shown).
Looking for the title ….Sold as is, no warranty…please email questions.
Thanks”

It looks like this leans backwards from the windshield backwards.  However, I’m kind of wondering if that is an optical illusion?  After all, the hood looks flat.  Hmm .. .The house behind it doesn’t lean though, so I suspect the lean isn’t caused by the camera.

Jim forwarded me the following images he took of the MBs at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, Az.

Jim writes, “The 390th Bomb Group Museum has a B-17 flying fortress on display, a long with a MB that has been restored and donated to the museum. It needs a fuel tank flush, new radiator hoses, and I bet a carb rebuild. I hope to assist them on this the next time I make it home. There is also a MB on display in another hanger that is part of a display dedicated to the Red Tails fighter group. I am sending a few pics of them. They have one of the largest aircraft display’s around!”

James Breaks the Oil Line Fitting — Could use some suggestions . . .

• CATEGORIES: Builds, Features, How To This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Well, we all eventually arrive at one of these places where the unexpected happens, inevitably followed by the ‘what do I do now’ question.  That’s where James is at and he needs a few suggestions.  You might remember James from when I visited his father and him in Denver back in October.

“I was replacing the old inlet oil line into the engine (below the fuel pump). I was loosening the oil line that went into the 90 degree brass fitting oil line bracket (Walck4wd part number 384569) and accidently torqued the bracket. The fuel line came off, but the thread from the 90 degree brass fitting oil line bracket broke off inside the engine in the oil inlet. Great.. So, I bought an extractor from Sears and have been trying to extract the remaining thread left inside the oil inlet (below the fuel pump) with no luck. There is hardly any room to hammer the extractor into the block. So now here I am, stuck. Any idea how to remove the remaining thread? Thanks, James DeBartolomeis”

Year? Mitsubishi Annapolis, MD **Status Unknown**

• CATEGORIES: Features, Other 4x4s • TAGS: , , , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Status Unknown. Was $5700.

“I purchased this jeep 5 years ago in Washington State where I restored it and used it on mountain trails, hunting/fishing while based at Fairchild AFB near Spokane. After being transferred to Andrews AFB it’s spent most of its time in my garage, other than trips into town, etc. It has a very efficient low mileage (under 45,000 miles) 4DR6 2.7L diesel engine mated to an iron 4speed manual transmission and transfer case. The steering is right hand drive as is typical for these late model willy’s from Japan. It’s been well maintained but shows some wear for its age such as repairs in the soft top, worn seats, etc. I also have the driver, passenger, and rear doors that are included in the sale. About 3 years ago the windshield wiper motor stopped working, so I’ve relied on the back up manual wiper in its place. I don’t have the time to research a new wiper motor or have it rebuilt, which is why I’m letting my jeep go at such a low price… While doing some research on this vehicle I discovered through discussion boards that individuals are paying up to $14K for these jeeps by the time the import cost, taxes, and all other expenses are calculated. It’s never been driven in the rain/snow here in Maryland due to rust concerns. This jeep has proven extremely reliable to me and capable of anything I’ve put in its path, you won’t be dissapointed.

Since I’ve owned it I’ve addressed the following:

-New windshield
-5 new 8 ply tubeless tires
-resealed the front and rear axles
-replaced all of the brakes (11″ drum brakes)
-installed new rear driveshaft
-replaced driveline parking brake
-eliminated rust from rear fenders by removing old sheet metal and welding in new
-Water pump was rebuilt 1 month ago
-New fan/alternator belt last month
-replaced thermostat & hoses
-installed inline coolant block heater
-M38 speedometer (replaced old unit that was in kilometers per hr)
***note*** speedometer works great but odometer recently stopped working
-installed turn signal control (unit was missing when it arrived from Japan)
-new pintle hitch with 2″ ball
-new shovel, axe, & jerry can
-installed farm jack on front bumper
-new M38 mirrors
-installed passenger seat from a CJ-5 (seat was missing when it arrived from Japan)
-installed Warn Locking hubs for the Dana 30 front axle
-engine oil & filter have been changed every 3,000 miles or 6 months (which ever comes first)

****the engine is barely broke in at 45-50K miles, burns no oil, and there are absolutely no leaks from the engine or drivetrain components.Yea”

“This jeep is a project but it is complete as it sits. It has a seized up motor and tranny. Body is complete, fenders hood, bumpers, steering wheel, pedals, two grills(one original and one newer crome one), shocks, leafs, rollbar, ect.. even has a soft top that will come with it.
The only missing things as far as I can see is the floorboard and the windshield.
