1942 MB Slattie Boise, Id **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: MB • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  A Buyer bought this through the ‘buy now’ button. It will be restored.

“You are bidding on a 1942 Slat Grill Willys mb.  The serial number is MB 114517 DOD is 1/27/42 the Toe gusset # is 17920.

The Frame tag and dash data plate match.

Overall the jeep would make a great restoration project. Please take the time to go through all the pictures I’ve attempted to leave nothing out.

The jeep comes with a lot of the hard to find ORIGINAL parts such as an actual slat grill grill, Gas Gauge, 5 mph increment speedo (needs work the needle is broken), 30/30 amp guage, hinged filtertte, Rear seat, top bows, bumper, and an STL pintle.

The body is pretty straight  and solid with the exception of a patch in the passenger floor board, a little rust in that passenger seam, some skimmed areas of body filler on the tub and rust out in the fuel tank sump and shovel area. The hat channels are decent but some will need  a little repair. Again this is a very nice solid start (PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURES IN SLIDE SHOW)

The frame is very nice and has the original bumper gussets and frame tag.

The motor does run when hot wired and the jeep rolls easy. The T84 transmission transfer all seemed to function just fine.

The motor is a bit of a mystery as the boss where the serial number should be is completely unstamped.  The casting at the lower part of the engine is correct for what should be in a slat so I think it would pass a two foot test  and I guess you could stamp the boss with what you want if you wanted it to pass for the actual original motor. The head is an early one with the two bolt thermostat.

I do have a number of other parts that will be included such as top bow brackets, body handles, and voltage regulator; These are all pictured in the slide show which has over 160 pics. (IF IT FAILS TO LOAD THE FIRST TIME HIT REFRESH AND if you still you still have problems let me know)

Don’t miss your chance to own this great Slat grill MB project, It has a lot of the hard and nearly impossible to find parts and a ton of potential.
I do have an open clear Idaho title from the last owner and I can put it in my name if this is any what of an issue for you.”

1952 Truck Tennessee **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Willys Trucks • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Was on eBay. **SOLD**

“Up for auction, fresh out of the hills of Crossville, Tennessee, another Willys. I have been in the paint and body work field for over 25 years in Florida, I have restored several Willys Jeeps (CJ2A, MB’s, etc) in Tennessee and sold them here on eBay, but I decided this time around to do a 1952 Willys Truck.

This truck would make a perfect store front display or a movie prop. Runs great!

This is all original with the exception of a custom solid oak (seasoned oak) bed! The bed is stained “Golden Oak” and polyurethane cleared. After doing research on these trucks I realized how cool they look with the slat sides, and the fact that this arrived without the original steel bed, my decision was made. Special thanks to my dad who is an amazing woodworker; this truck is now truly a one of a kind! Custom wood burned WILLYS logo on center back oak slat. Interior door panels are also oak wood and stained. You might find other 1952 Willys trucks on the internet, but you will never find another one like this.

Frame was completely sandblasted and painted with automotive gloss black. All original metal, floor was previously replaced in the cab. All dents and rust completely removed, sandblasted, welded, body worked and custom painted. Paint is a two tone tan and brown. Colors used are “Cream in my Coffee” (tan) and “Chocolate Turtle” (brown). This color combination has had more compliments than you can imagine, especially with the golden oak stained bed.

Engine: 6 volt original Hurricane 4 cylinder F-Head. 134 cubic inch. Engine was rebuilt by NAPA in 2002, runs perfectly.

Drive train: T-90 3 speed manual transmission. T-18 transfer case, hi-lo 2 speed. Original self locking hubs. 4 wheel drive works perfectly. Original Timkin clam shell rear-end, last year they made them! 5:38 gears front and rear. (5) 16″ original wheels.

Electrical: Original 6 volt system, but has been rewired for 12 volt system. All you need to convert it to 12 volt is a 12v alternator, relay and coil, 12v battery, and change the lights. Already has a 12v electrical gauge installed and new 12v turn signal assembly on the column. The original vacuum wipers still work. Horn works too!

Items that are brand new consist of:
(4) new shocks (custom painted to match body), new brake cylinders, new brake lines (brakes work as good as new!), new wheel studs (now all RIGHT HAND threads), new chrome lug nuts, (5) brand new Maxxis Mudder Buckshot tires, new battery cables, new rebuilt starter, new rebuilt fuel pump, new exhaust (from manifold back including new muffler), new front axle seals (did I mention the 4×4 works perfectly), new 6volt head lights and chrome rings, new parking lights with chrome rings, new floor mats, new custom covered arm rests, new oil pressure gauge. New brake and clutch interior rubber pedal covers.

I have a clear Tennessee title and a Willys Logo key chain in my hands. She also has a fresh coat of wax.

Serial number: 452EC113384
Mileage: 33, 602

Items that I am including with the truck:
A box of original parts including, lights, interior heater vents and interior heater hose. Original head light brackets, Brand new oil cooler and filter, original door skins, original tail gate “skin”, not the complete tail gate (someone cut the entire center skin out of the original tail gate) has logo. Another front cowling (goes behind the front bumper), and a new rear window interior frame. Also have another spare tire steel side mount bracket”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4300

I’m thinking this is a CJ-3A with a replacement body, hence the solid tub.

“For sale 1950 Willys CJ3A, clean title, has some surface rust but is not rusted through anywhere (no cancer). I bought it as a CJ3A, but this might be a first generation M38, it has military seats, military bumpers, a glove compartment (only m38 had it, not the civilian version), a military hard top. The engine runs smooth, was rebuilt less than 3,000 miles ago by the last owner. It has the original L134 “Go-Devil” 4 cyl engine, original transmission and transfer. Runs good, all stock except for tires, wheels, and a couple of aftermarket gauges. Top speed of 45-50 mph. This is a great daily driver as it sits or you could make a great restoration project out of it. Selling because I have too many toys and have to downsize the fleet before my new son/daughter is born. $4300 OBO, not interested in trades.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7500

This looks good.

“For sale is a green 1948 Willys Overland CJ-2A. It has an operational PTO (power take off). It has virtually no oil drips. The Jeep starts, runs, and drives well. Transmission shifts smoothly and the 4wd system shifts in/out and works just fine. I reverted the system back to 6 volt for nostalgic purposes but the 12 volt resisters are still in place to convert it back. Tires have about 500 miles on them. This Jeep is road worthy and I have the title ready to sign over to you. It is hard to find these things in the shape she is in. I’m sad to part with it, but I bought it as a “getting out of the military gift to myself,” and now it’s time to move on to the next fun project. I can’t provide details on its history prior to my ownership, but I can give you details on every repair since I have owned it. It comes with a complete soft top, Willys Overland CJ2A reprinted mechanics manual, a spare set of spark plugs and a spare paper oil filter”

Busy Busy Busy

• CATEGORIES: Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This month there have been a few more interruptions than normal with eWillys because I’ve been busy, busy, busy.  Here is why ….

First off, I’ve been dating someone, throwing off my time schedule a bit, but I’m happier for it!

Second, the book is nearly ready for publication; I have decided to do one more large revision based on some comments from my Aunt.  Those should be complete by month’s end.  Below is a mockup of the book with its cover.  I think I have a book printer, but am still negotiating that.  Until that time, I will release the book electronically and will encourage as many people as possible to buy it. The reason I need to sell the book is because my financial contract is up with my previous employer.  So, my ability to continue to support eWillys is slightly endangered.  However, I won’t give up hope just yet, especially since responses to the book from women have been excellent, so I have pretty high hopes!  Also, I have made some mockups of another book that teaches people how to identify all the models of jeeps.  In addition, I now have a professional photographer that I can work with to create the shots for the new book (you might have seen her work form the San Juan Island GPW we found). I’m hoping I can put that book together over the next year, but that time frame is dependent on a variety of issues.

Third, I’ve been doing legwork on securing some art pieces created by my Great Aunt Emma Eilers about 100 years ago.  Thirty paintings popped up from a single collector in early September, so it took some effort and negotiations to come to a satisfying financial solution to get them back into the family.

Fourth, I’ve been preparing for a trip to NYC/Long Island from Sept 19th through Sept 29th to do family research, review the paintings mentioned above, and visit with a jeep collector in the area.  During my stay in Sea Cliff, LI, I will also be staying at my Aunt’s former studio which still sits on the property that was the former family estate.  So, I’ve very excited about this unusual opportunity.  I’m hoping all the family research work I’ve done over the past 10 years will result in another book, though it isn’t jeep related in the slightest.

So, the timing of updates and my response times will be uneven for a week and a half.  It’s just been that kind of September!

Below is the back cover:

PNW4WDA Go-4-All Kid’s Jacket from the early 80s

• CATEGORIES: Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

My sister found this jacket at a garage sale the other day.  So, she bought it.  The Go-4-Alls are a Seattle club based originally in Midway, Washington (perhaps still based there), though there were several members of club just a mile from me in Renton (and I went to high school with three pretty members of the club).  This kid’s jacket shows playdays/conventions from 1981-1983 that I attended as well. These club jackets were very popular with clubs back in the 70s and 80s and are still seen around today if you attend PNW4WDA events.  I have large version of both pics so the details can be seen. Just click on the images.

And just for kicks, this image was taken in late 1981 during of a joint Wandering Willys and Go 4 Alls jeeping trip over the Naches Pass and Manashtash Ridge in the Cascades.  Dad’s jeep is the CJ-5 in the middle front of the picture.  I was 16 and this was the first trip where I did most of the driving during this trip.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $39,000

This isn’t your every day restoration.  It won the prestigious Grand National Senior Award, from the Antique Automobile Club of America, and is the only known jeep ever to achieve this distinction.  Also, the seller is aware the price is above the normal price of the average restored jeep (so any comments apart that are not price related would be appreciated).

1946 Willys CJ-2A with rare column shift, PTO, full eight-piece canvas top,  all mechanical components new or rebuilt, meticulously restored to factory-fresh condition. AACA Grand National Senior Award, a perfect museum-quality specimen without peer. Over $45K invested. Price: $39,000.

This jeep is full of nostalgia and meaning for me. It’s similar to the jeep my grandfather bought new in Philadelphia after World War II and kept at his summer place in Maine. In the summer of 1959, when I was nine, he let me drive it up his long driveway to fetch the mail and over the blueberry fields. When he sold his place two years later, the jeep, alas, was put up for sale as well. Over the years, I’ve tried to find that exact jeep, so far in vain.

This runs, but does need some work.

“I am selling a 1948 willys cj2a “lefty” Jeep!! There were less the 10,000 of these jeeps built one year. Willys put the spare tire on the drivers side instead of the passenger for a few months of production. The jeep does have some rust and body damage but can be fixed pretty easy.. the motor starts right up and seems to run good but the carburetor could use a rebuild. I put a new gas tank with sending unit in the jeep and also I have new canvas seats coming for the jeep… Jeep does need some TLC but would be a nice project to fix up for hunting or to do a full restoration… Please fell free to call me at (970-210-0680) for any question… Jeep is located in Crawford CO but I can deliver the jeep..”
