“1944 Willy’s Jeep. 283 Chevy with a 3spd. Great project! Asking $1500.
UPDATE: A reader bought this “awesome” GPW. He will send us pics and update as he restores it. You can view it here.
No pics provided.
“f-script ford gpw,will be for a restoration project,all orignal parts,f-stamped on bolts seats,and frame,bumpers,spare tire carrier,etc..”
It might be the carb or a fuel pump. I suspect the problem is cheap to solve. This might have little or no rust.
“1955 Jeep CJ5. 4 cyl “F” head engine, manual transmission and 4 wheel drive. It is mechanically in good condition other than a current carburetor problem that allows it to start but not continue to run. It is currently in storage near Alva. but is priced F.O.B Oklahoma City. Asking $1500, or make offer. 405-833-7217″
The price is a bit high on this project. However, what interests me is that this appears to be a M-38 body, with the exception of a battery box. And, this doesn’t appear to be a replacement body to me.
“1950 Willy’s Jeep CJ – 3A Serial #49445; Runs Great Needs Body Work; 3500.00 or Best Offer.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7000.
This has some updates.
“1953 modified willy’s jeep with chevy 327 w/four barrel edlebrock carb. dyna four wheel drive and berg-werner four speed trans.”
Bob spotted this unusually modified MB. The seller believes this was converted by the Greek Army.
“Converted by Greek Army to re-coilest rifle carrier, ammo mounts in tact, 3 out of 4 combat wheels, solid body with surface rust, does not have motor but does have original running gear-motors available. please call- 216-287-3582”
No pics provided. Sounds rough.
“1947 willys jeep . runs good has orig 4 cyl engine and transmission. not pretty . good woods buggie, no brakes ..needs wheel cylenders on the back ..1500.00 or trade for aircooled vw bug or bus…9414681223…dj”
This looks to have a replacement body.
“1948 Jeep Willy’s CJ2A. This jeep has been fully restored around 10 yrs ago. It had 10,000 dollars put into it. It is in extremely good shape and virtually rust free. The paint is still in excellent shape. It has been converted over to 12VDC so as to make it easier to start, especially in cold weather. It has a flathead 4cyl, and runs excellent. The 4 wheel drive works great and shifts smooth. The gear ratio is 5:38. It has been stored indoors. The only trades I am interested in would be a 3/4 to 1 ton 4X4 truck either chevy, gmc, or dodge. Of equal value.
If interested please call Mike at 859-797-3830 or Bill at 859-797-1411 NO CALLS AFTER 9:30PM.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1300
This looks stock and rough.
“Old Army style Jeep. Has plow with hydraulics. Needs carb cleaned and hoses replaced to make run. I bought to use this winter but am not putting the time forth to work on it.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** was priced at $2000. This is a no-glove-box slat grille MB.
Dexter forwarded the pics and noted, “This guy sent me lots of pics. It’s an early slat without a glovebox. The engine number is I10885, which puts it in the “no glovebox category.” The 10,885th slat made.”
“1942 willy’s Jeep L134 engine runs & drives.”
UPDATE: Was $2000. **SOLD**
(12/10/2010) The head is off, but this sure looks solid.
“This jeep is all original. Most of its life has been in eastern washington,so there is very little rust. The engine head is off because of a bad head gasket.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $9250.
(08/26/2010) According to the seller, this is a factory built Veep. This is one of the nicer Veeps I’ve seen.
“This is a factory built Veep. They were built from 1979 to 1981. It is an all metal CJ3 body on a really tough square tube chassis with all VW running gear. Really well done and well constructed. Drives smoothly like a VW and not like a jeep CJ3. It is the ultimate ride for street or off road. Would make a great hunting buggy. Will go most anywhere without much effort. I have owned the veep for over 20 years and it has always been stored inside. The bottom of the car is as clean as the top. It has a soft top, frame and doors. The car was appraised about a year ago for insurance purposes at $12,200.00. I am asking $9,250.00 for the car and will look at all offers. Need the storage space.”
Or spotted this video of Israel’s first military parade. Part way through you’ll see some Willys rolling through. There are a few fascinating related videos along the right hand side as well. Having visited Auschwitz & Berkinau in Poland, I found those particularly interesting.
This looks solid at first glance, however it is missing the steps, suggesting that the body needs closer inspection.
“1943 Military Jeep with rebuilt engine. Runs great. The basics are here, you can add your own touches for individual needs. 530 893-0451″

This has an inline 6 that runs. He just can’t get it into gear.

UPDATE: Status Unknown. Was priced at $1800.
“Factory metal cab and 6 1/2 ft plow. 27,000 original miles. The Jeep runs great, but rough and rusty around the edges. Used it the last big snow storm, works great and good for those hard to get into places because its small. I have too many vehicles and already have a plow truck, so I cant justify keeping the Jeep. ”
UPDATE: Still Available
(12/08/2010) Someone spent plenty of time and money on this nice CJ-3B.
“You won’t find another one like this one. 98% Restored, Not perfect, But close. Email with questions, I will not respond to scammers, or people who waste my time. If it is online I still have it. I prefer to deal with a local buyer. Trades are not out of the question, depending on what you have. Price is Firm.”
A few months ago William shared the story of Buttercup. Well, he now reports that he found Buttercup a new brother. He also reports, definitively, that a CJ-2A will fit into the back of a Toyota Tundra. I think Toyota ought to add that to their tv commercials.
Here is the proof:
UPDATE: He will also trade for a set of seat frames
Brett has this top for sale at a good price. It came with a project he bought (and has been busily tearing apart) and he doesn’t need it. You can contact Brett at 801-226-3082 or at bpfinley@juno.com.
