“THIS IS A OLD BIRD HERE. ITS A 46 WILLYS RUNS AND DRIVES NEEDS RESTO, PLEASE ONLY SERIOUS CALLERS, NO BS.”
UPDATE: Still Available
(06/02/2010) If the engine problem is a simple fix, this might be a good price.
“1949 Willy’s pickup. Complete. Currently not running. Original 4 cylinder motor and original running gear. Easy restoration project. One rust spot on driver’s floor. Looking to trade for a Falcon, Fairlane, or Galaxie of equal value. Would consider other muscle cars or 1200 OBO. Let me know what you have to trade. Any questions call Jose at 509-770-8117.”
UPDATE: Lylito pointed out that more information about these models and their New Zealand designer, Sandy Sanderson, can be read here. Plans are available, too. Jalopnik has also did a story about Sandy that includes details of the original drawings.
Randy forwarded me these amazing models. I’ve got more pics of the others and will forward them as an email.
Here are some other models (again, I have more pics of these if you are interested.

A reader from Greece contacted me today. He is searching for a bare bones willys that he hopes to get and ship back to Greece. As an alternative, I suggested he try using ooyyo.com to locate a jeep in Europe. I haven’t used this search engine much, but in a search of greece, it did show a variety of Willys flatties and CJ-5s. So, I did a search on Willys in the US and I got a wide range of results, from way, way overpriced — almost confusing — to reasonable deals. For example, I have this CJ-3A from CDA listed at $10,000 , yet ooyyo has it listed at $20,000 and links it to this ad. Caveat Emptor!
UPDATE: Bill reports that this sold. He believes the top may still available.
(04/29/2009) This is a very nice Dj-3A and one of only a handful made in 1961 as noted by the seller.
“1961 WILLYS DJ3A DISPATCHER JEEP, Serial Number 56337 20287, I removed the hard top with plans to paint it black and get a black vinyl bikini top made, but as you can see in some of the photos, it had original military OD paint. So I thought I would offer it just as it is in case someone wanted to go back to original OD military style with stars and numbers. ….”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4800.
This is incorrectly listed as a later model.
“1951 Willy’s jeep. Currently in Kern county. ”
UPDATE: Was $4000. **SOLD**
It needs some body work. This is a lefty (spare tire mounted on the left).
“1948 Willys Jeep CJ2A. Runs great original engine. Will need some under body work. Great project for someone who has the time.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay
This looks in good condition, though the dash is missing a few items.
“Selling a very nice flatfender Jeep CJ3A, built in 1951, original California vehicle with black/yellow CA plates. Recent paint job, new gas tank and fuel filter. New windshield. This little Jeep drives very nice and everything works. Original 6 volt system. The photos don’t show, but a full spare is mounted on the passenger rear side of Jeep. Original factory running gear: -L4-134 4-cylinder flathead engine -Warner 3-speed T-90 transmission -Spicer Model 18 2-speed transfer case -Factory Spicer Models 18 & 25 front and rear differentials”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $700.
It looks like the dash has been chopped a bit. I don’t think this looks all that bad for the price.
“I haven’t been back to OR in 4 years and with a career in TX, it is unlikely that I ever will. I have a WW2 era military
Jeep at my family ranch in Eagle Point that I would like to sell. I have talked to a restoration specialist who says it has
been modified too many times over the years to be worth restoring to original spec, but that it would make a good toy
for wheeling or hunting.
Frame, axles, and transfer case are all original military spec and in good shape. Engine is an upgraded inline six and
was running years ago, but I wouldn’t even try now without a tune up. The bottom of the body tub was rusted out,
but the structural components are all in good shape. It has been kept covered and dry since I left. I might trade for older paintball stuff since I collect it, and it can be shipped. Nothing other than that.”
This might be a good price. It includes a rear PTO.
“1948 Willys Farm Truck with rear PTO. Runs good. Brakes fine. Used last winter to plow snow. No title. Call for more information — Pim 616-990-1843.”
I can’t tell if it runs, but I suspect not.

I had this marked sold back in June of 2010. I’m guessing the sale fell through and it is now available again?
