“1948 Willys Jeep CJ2 in non running condition. Could restore or make a parts Jeep. Odometer shows 26626 miles, true milage unknown by me. I purchased as a project and never did get to it. Body and frame seem decent, the floor of the rear area is rusted through as seen in picture. Unique cab style. Has 540 PTO on rear. I do have the seat frame for it but not upholstered. Will have to be hauled or trailored. I live near Dixon IL 61021. Can either use PayPal or pay cash when picked up.”

It looks like there’s been some changes to the floor boards — probably rusted out and were replaced.
“We are selling our 1950 CJ-3A. We have used this Jeep to explore many trails in Oklahoma and Arkansas. The Jeep is nearly origional with only bolt on accessories and could easily be restored to origional condition if desired. The body is in very good shape with only a little panel straightening needed. I haven’t found any rust on the Jeep except for the hat channels which have been strengthened, but would require new for restoration. This CJ is very solid….”

(05/28/09) It’s got some rust issues …
“I listed this earlier in the summer, but have gone down significantly in price as I don’t want to see it sit outside through the long winter and I have no garage to store her in. Has a crack in the windshield. Needs new clutch, spark plugs and fresh gas. The frame is solid but rusty. Hard arctic top and doors. No papers. Would make a great project for the garage this winter and have ready to go out mudding in the spring. Serious inquiries only and if you set up a time to come out, please follow through! Located in Sandy Creek. May be able to arrange delivery for half price of local towing company. They want $150 to go to Syracuse, I will charge half whatever they quote for your specific location. You must come and look and pay cash first before any delivery will be arranged. $300 Firm on the jeep. Email or call Jim 783-1464.”
Bill, who runs this great Bantam Website, forwarded me a link to the below video which reveals the results of a four year Bantam Reconnaissance Car Pilot recreation completed by Duncan Rolls.
From the YouTube website, Watch a perfectly authentic re-creation of the original Bantam Reconnaissance Car Pilot (the world’s first jeep) go on-road and off in a demonstration by builder Duncan Rolls. The Pilot Re-creation required over 3500 hours of work to build. The drive components are original Bantam and Continental parts, as are the gauge cluster and other parts (a total of 60 per cent of the vehicle). Duncan made the chassis and body completely by hand. The only original sheet metal was a stock Bantam cowl, but even that had to be widened by six inches, just like the original was. The original Pilot, delivered to the Army at Camp Holabird, MD on September 23, 1940, was lost to history after successful testing.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
The dashboard is unusual.
“1948 Willys Custom Jeep with a Ford 302 V-8 Engine, 4-Speed Manual Transmission and lots of other extras that makes for a perfect hunting/farming/ranching vehicle. This jeep has had a lot of alterations but runs and drives good. The body is straight and the drive train seems to be tight. The engine has limited blow-by but does show some exhaust smoke. Some reconditioning may be needed but it should provide you with a lot of great service.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
This comes with the weight kit on the front.
“1947 Jeep Willys C-J2A, original 4 cylinder flathead. 3-speed transmission. New brakes, shocks, and exhaust. Weight Kit on front, and 3point hitch. PTO $6500 OBO”
TABLE OF CONTENTS: There’s 4 sections to this post:
1. MY CAGE:
Here’s the cage in the jeep. Yeah, I’m happy about this. It’s a little chromier color than I wanted, but I suspect I’ll be covering it with wrap soon. I already hit my head once, lol …
And here’s a video:
2. MY THOUGHTS ON BUILDING THE CAGE
And an overview of my experience:
This post reflects my experience researching and building my roll cage. My goal with this post is to eliminate the need for others to spend the hours and hours I spent researching weighing options and deciding upon a cage. Note that while I have had a couple cages and my dad built two cages (back in the 70s), this was the first cage I designed, bent and built myself.

UPDATE: Was $2000. **SOLD**
It needs a new rear driveline. Otherwise, it looks to be a very good price.
“1949 Jeep willys, 350 4 bolt main 400 horse, B&M shifter, turbo 350 tranny, 8k lbs winch, new soft top, newer tires, Need cash, jeep I know its worth, my loss your gain, clean title from washington, Jeep runs and drives but does need new custom drive line made for rear”
This sounds like a great price.
“Have a newly rebuilt Chevy SM420 transmission. Bought it originally for my Willys wagon and never installed after going with a different drive train. This trans is one of the best for off roading due to its low 1st gear and is great in short wheelbase rigs since its only about a little over a foot long. This Trans also comes with an extra 420 that is not in great shape but its extra parts! I also have a Advanced Adapters SM420 to Dana 18 alum. adapter along with a twin stick Dana 18 T-case for sale as well. Asking $300 for the two trannys. If you have any questions just give me a call at 909 519 5787 Thanx!”
