Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. 1954 Willy’s CJ-3B Jeep. original running gear, paint 2 yrs old, original color. No rust & has never had any rust, has also been converted to a 12 volt, GM style alt red top optima battery, pertonix electronic distributor, also features overdrive unit. NOS trico wiper motors, I have original boxes. Solex Carb. I have most receipts. Also included original parts book,“NOT a reprint” and the Owner’s manual. I have saved old original parts, Carb, Gen, Dist, & Coil. I have a soft top for the Jeep, although it is not in perfect shape, On the passenger side, there is a 3-4 inch tear near the front, this can easily be fixed, since we do not drive in the wintertime, it is not a big deal to me. Always topless. This is a super clean, solid Jeep, no issues what so ever. I have just taken it as far as I want to and I am ready now to move on to another project. “For sale is a 1943 FORD GPW (JEEP). The FORD model GPW was also produced as the Willys model MB for the US Government during WWII. This jeep still has a few FORD parts but has been rebuilt/civilianized with parts from other models of jeeps or non-military vehicles. The jeep runs well and includes the following items. -350 Chevrolet V8 -4 bbl Holley carburetor (new) -3-speed manual transmission plus Warn overdrive -Warn 8,000 lb winch with power-out or free-spool out -Transfer case with 2H, 4H, 2L and 4L selection -5.38 front and rear end gear ratio -Model 44 full-floating rear axle -11 inch drum brakes -Double reservoir master brake cylinder -15×8 Chromed steel wheels (including spare) -Electric windshield wipers -Power steering -Tilt steering column -High-back bucket seats -Matching Stewart Warner gauges -Stainless steel dash panel -Full soft top -Sun top with half doors -Heater ….. “I have a 1948 willys jeep that I want to sell. I havent went jeeping for over a year. I would rather someone thats going to use it have it. It has a 327ci motor, with a 4speed trans. Spring over lift, and has 35″ tires. Starts and runs good. Mechanicly sound, needs a paint work. I have a 8000lb warn winch that i never mounted that can go with it. I also have two sets of tires, four 35-12.50r15, and five 34-9.50-15 swampers, both are mounted on wheels. ”

UPDATE: This jeep has been for sale for about a year. It was on ebay recently and is now back on Craigslist at a lower price. It was located in Eugene (hence the Oregon Ducks reference), but now is in Santa Clara (apparently).
“1953 CJ3B Willys. If your a hunter this jeep is for you. It will climb anything and go anywhere. If your a Duck fan the color is perfect. No rust and runs great. Black soft top with doors. 3 speed with high/low transfer case. Warren hubs. The jeep has been driven less than a hundred miles in the last 6 years and has always been garaged.”

The buyer purchased this jeep a couple months ago, but has never gotten this v6 started. Note: it includes an overdrive. This might be a good deal if the engine turns over and you can talk the seller down a bit (after all, it’s non running & needs new tires) on price. Then go through this check list as these are the most likely issues:

(01/21/09) The picture isn’t quite clear enough to be certain, but it appears the passenger step goes all the way to the body rather than turning inward near the end. Also, there’s no drain hole on the side. Either this is a fiberglass body or the metal body has been modified.

Very nice!!!!! 1965 Tuxedo Park Mark IV CJ5 jeep. This is a very nice Jeep with a $4500.00 paint job and new tires.The motor is new rebuilt with about 1000 miles on it. Runs very smoth and strong with now drivetrain noise. The paint is very detailed on the floor bord, dash, and rims. The seats are camo with three pont set belt with warn hubs”

Everything on this vehicle is original, except the top and seat covers which are in good condition. It also comes with the side windows. It has: “Flat Head 4″ Three on the tree manual transmission. Optional overdrive. Previous owner was going to make into hot rod until he found out everything was original. Pulled gas tank to use as template and didn’t put back on correctly, so gas tank has loose connection after going down bumpy road and leaking on garage floor. Haven’t driven in a year, but started and ran great after buying new battery and installing new tune up kit. The only other issue with this vehicle is needing a new paint job and new tires. Here’s some terra tires out of Michigan.
“I have 2 like new terra tires on 15×10 Buggy rims for the big 5 bolt pattern. they are in really good shape with no dry rot always stored indoors and very little use. These look in good shape with good tread. Someone out there on the east coast was looking for these. If they weren’t so far away, I’d snap these up. These are the newer, old dogs. You can tell by the outlined letters. Earlier dogs had solid letters.
“I have for sale a nice pair of Formula Desert Dog 10-15LT tires. Real good tread left, I had them on the back of my buggy and they dug nice and stayed clean. One is on a volkswagen 4 bolt rim. Asking $50 for the pair.
For reasons only the Our Gang 4Wheeler folks know, they prefer their racing chilled, literally on ice. It appears to be a family fun affair with a season that varies with the thickness of ice.
Our Gang 4 Wheelers is an ice racing club whose volunteers have been organizing ice races in Colorado for 34 years. You’ll find them out on Georgetown Lake in the beautiful Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Their season spans 6 weekends through January and February.
For those of you who want to try this sport, but don’t have tires, it appears they’ll rent you some. You’ll have to check out their website to learn more.

A reader named Mike asked me to post this.
“I have a completely rebuilt a CJ-2A starter. It has a new bendix. The guts have all been cleaned and turned. The bushings and brushes have been cleaned. I even have the new bushing that goes in the bellhousing. Its a 6 volt starter. It came out of a 1947 CJ-2A. I put a 12 volt starter in and so do not need it anymore. I invested 150 dollars, so want to get 100 dollars for it. It’s in excellent condition.”
