UPDATE: The website’s online purchases and inventory is offline. It appears they are gearing up to allow users to use Major Credit Cards rather than just paypal. Though Stone Tire calls the tires Ugly Dog, I suspect these tires are the same ones made for the Import/Export Tire Company by Comptred and called V-Grips. It appears Import/Export also sells the other two tires as well and other offroad retreads.
UPDATE (06/07/09): I sent the company an email, asking if they could potentially make a desert dog for racing and sending them some examples. I heard nothing back from my June 7th email.
Here’s a company out of Tennessee called StoneTire that calls itself the top resource for retread and offroad tires on the web. Here’s three of the offroad tires they sell.
Jim’s become a good friend. He is full of stories, jeeps and life (and apparently cooks some mean brisket, too). Derek Redmond gave him a call the other day and asked him to do a story for the CJ-3B Page. It’s a great story and a nice synopsis of a good niche he’s carved for himself. You might also remember that Jim builds seat covers that have been selling very well — buyers around the world are enjoying the covers. Congrats Jim! Below is one of his before and after projects (go here to see more pics of this):

Gerald sent some really sad pics to me with an idea … let’s create a “Last Ride” category. We’ve all seen one or more of these jeeps: Something so rusty, so damaged, so modified, so mortifying that the grass is holding it up.
So, I’ll put up two posts tonight (courtesy of Gerald). If you have some pics, see some pics, or save some pics, send them my direction and we’ll add them to.
Gerald writes, We bought this about 10 years ago and finally decided to pull it from the weeds. We needed the rear axle. The frame collapsed as I stood in the rotten drivers compartment to steer the wheels while being pulled by the tractor. It was truely it’s last ride. We will pick it over and save some stuff. Check out the shackle lift.
Gerald writes, Here is a 1970’s Canadian version of a M715. These fell of a flatbed truck and sat for years until I got them. They were a waste of time, but could not resist.
Gerald writes, Here is an old Jeepster I took apart back in 1980, Nice plate floor…….and mini terra recaps I may add.
I was doing a Bing.com search of jeep images and ran across jeep4ever’s poster/sign/art page. Check out all the images at Jeep4ever.ca.
This has been sold to a reader. Congrats!

“I have a Monroe 3 point hitch for a willys jeep in good restorable condition with the tank/controller. no pump. does not include link arms or pto just the lift and controller. Will take trades or cash, make me an offer and we can go from there,”
The body looks a little rust.
“I have a 1946 Jeep CJ2A that looks like the famous WWII Army Jeep. The Motor, Transmission, Brakes have all been rebuilt. This Jeep runs like a watch. It just needs to be painted with Olive Drab paint and it is ready for Adventure or Hunting Camp. These are getting very difficult to find and are Very Collectable. I would also consider an interesting trade?”
It appears in good shape. It’s not “all” original. That steering wheel looks like a later model wheel of some type.

There’s one whole jeep shot, but it’s from a distance.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.
Looks nice for the price. I didn’t know they made these as late as 1979.
“Presented here, up for sale, is a 1979 IH Scout II with less than 39,000 miles. It originally sold from Lemieux Garage in Colebrook, NH, and spent it’s life in New England. It’s currently registered, inspected, and driven occasionally. The 304 ci. V8 has plenty of power and a recent tune up. The 4 speed trans and 4X4/HI-LO with Warn hubs work as they should. It has power steering, power brakes, no A/C, and front/rear Dana 44 axles with 3.07 gears. The factory interior is complete with very little wear and tear. There is an aftermarket radio installed under the dash with 2 door speakers. The brown paint still shines on the sides with no dents. The top surfaces are starting to fade, and the metal hard top has some small bubbles and holes here and there, around the edges. The lower rear quarter panels, the rocker panels, and the lower and inner front fenders have rot, but it remains presentable. This Scout is very original and unmolested making it the perfect base for a restoration, or just drive it as is. I will consider trades of equal or better value. If you have any questions, or to make an appointment to see it,”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $350.
Looks like a parts jeep.
“1946 CJ2A for parts or restoration. Early split window jeep. Was driving it around last year. Tub is shot, frame is good and engine ran smooth with no smoke. Has working plow set up missing just the blade. No title bill of sale only.”
