Except for the ‘racing’ scoop’, engine and tires, it looks pretty stock.

I’ve been a little side tracked from Gus due to a recent neighbor’s problem with a mail box — her son hit another neighbor’s mail box with her car, damaging the mail box (it’s actually two mailboxes and paper boxes that sit on a single pole). By now, the whole neighbor knows me as the ‘guy with a jeep’; so, it was only a matter of time before it was my welder to the rescue (ok, it was a bit more complicated than that).
Now, back on track, I’ve made some progress on some trivial details.
Oil Filtering System: When I bought my V6, the seller included an external dual oil filter system. I decided to install the system because (1) I would increase the available oil in the system, (2) having the filters external of the engine would reduce engine oil temperatures, and (3) having two oil filters would help with the engine oil temperatures even more. Since I’m of the opinion that my last engine blew up due to oiling problems (though that was a much older 225 engine), I’m hoping this helps stalls potential problems. I’ve also been on the phone with TAPerformance and they suggested the use of a specific pressure spring for use in buick engines with high pressure attachments.
In the image, you can see how the oil filters will sit above the filter base and the hoses will wind down to the oil filter and the forward, passenger side of the engine.
Combination Valve: A Combination Valve is simply a proportioning valve and a pressure differential valve that is combined into one unit. I got one from a junk yard early 90s cherokee. I grabbed the valve, the valve bracket and some of the lines. The lines between the valve and the master cylinder were long enough that I can attach the valve to the frame. So, I welded a small bracket to the frame and now the valve bolts to the frame.
In the image, the valve looks very close to the front of the tranny, but fortunately, there’s plenty of room.
This looks like a very solid, clean CJ-2A. I think the opening bid price on this is pretty reasonable.

Brian found this unique ’46 on eBay. No doubt there’s a certain personal touch to this CJ-2A.
“For sale I have a 1946 Willys CJ2A Jeep. It runs good, all 4 WD works properly. It needs rear brake drum installed, I have the drum. It has all new brake shoes and wheel cylinders, duel rear wheels needs wiring work for lights to all work. The jeep was my dads he had it since 1962 it was always kept in the garage. The body is in pretty good shape for a 46. It was painted in 1995 and it had floor patches welded in 5 years ago. The snow plow, hydrolic up and down manual left and right. I just put in a new interstate battery. It was converted to a 12v system. Thanks for looking, ask any and all questions. The jeep is for sale locally, I can stop the auction at any time!!!!!”
This is a parts FC-170.

The ad says this is a must look, however it still looks rusty at the edges to me.

This is one of the cheaper FC’s I’ve seen — It’s a project.

This appears to be a very restorable GPW. If you are serious about getting a GPW, this one is worth a look.

Looks like there’s been some time and money put into this rock climbing flatfender.

An olds V6? It’s so uncommon, that I had to look up the engine to learn more about it. According to Wikipedia, a version of the Buick 231 or 3800L was used between 1975-1980 in the Starfire GT. The only difference I can see is that the alternator is on the driver’s side rather than the passenger side. I’m not sure where the powersteering pump is located.

This jeep sports the same seats (driver’s seat and rear passenger seat) that I have. I could use those seat covers!

This trail jeep seems reasonably priced.
“Selling my trail rig. It is street legal but I trailer it around. It has a built 360, T15/D20, d44/d30 locked in rear, New custom drivelines, 5in of lift (used to be S.O. w/36’s I lowered it back down) 33″ wildcats with spare. 10klb Warn winch with remote, Cd player, Full roll cage, I have the soft top for it, but it needs a little sewing work done (its all there though). It has all the lighting you will ever need, Engine runs at about 80-90psi oil presure. Oversized radiator means it never overheats on the trail. The is an awsome trail jeep. This is jeep is a collection of various parts. Perhaps the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

This started out at $3500, but the price has dropped to $2500. There’s definitately some rust on this one.
“Early 60’s foreward control Jeep.Been in a barn for 5 years. Got it started and drove it around. Engine is great, trans and transfer work ok. Brakes need bled but work. Driver and passenger floorboards need repair, but usable.Rear cab corners rusted but small enough to repair with fibreglass i think. Beds rusty and there is surface rust.Great ranch vehicles with very little wwork. Last one I saw for sale on e bay that was similar to this they were asking $3500 and it didn’t run. No engine. This is a good restorable jeep. t90 tranny and dana 18 transfercase work. Nice aluminum wheels. throw in a buick v6 and drive it. some hundreds of dollers in newer suspension work. Hate to sell it, but need cash.

Note the indents on the passenger side. This is likely a reproduction body. Seems like a pretty good price.

How about this great looking CJ-3B with only 32K miles. Looks pretty stock.
“I have an original 1962 CJ3B with less than 32,000 miles on it. The paint has been touched up but is still sea foam green. Kelly hardtop side steps, there was some slight rust on the passenger floor brace which has been repaired. I have the original wheels and new 15 inch bias ply tires. This jeep also has the PTO winch installed as well as I have the PTO to Warn overdrive adapter by Herm the OD guy. (no overdrive) Can send photos. $5000 Washington State.”

Vivek purchased a 1967 CJ-3B right hand drive Mahindra at the end of 2004. According to his early blog notes, the jeep barely started, was missing the front drive line, and generally needed a lot of work. When he finally did pick it up, on the way back it stalled, requiring the help of some local builders to move it out of the way of a bus. Fast forward several years later and you can see Vivek and his CJ-3B pictured on the right.
Among Vivek’s challenges was his effort to get the papers. Not only were the papers absent, but apparently the owner wanted to sell the jeep, but the owner’s son did not. It took a few weeks before Vivek could get the original papers, insisting the owner drop the price slightly further for all the trouble the owner caused him. You can read about the purchase here.

James sent me a pic of his recently painted flattie. It looks great and, he write, he didn’t have to bondo it.
As I started looking a the image more closely, I realized that his jeep has reversed shackles on the front and outboarded 2 1/2 inch springs on the back. Nice ….
This GPW looks like it is in very good shape. I’m surprised it isn’t gone priced at $3000. The back seems like it sits a little high? No description at all.
