Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1948 Willys CJ2A Jeep with an M38 windshield. 289 c.i. V8, 4 speed transmission with overdrive, 4WD heavy duty axles, tilt and power steering, power brakes, hydraulic clutch, winch, front lockout hubs, posi-traction rear axle, dual exhaust, Dunlop RV Radial Rover tires 31 x 10.50 x 15 tires w/good tread. Bolted on roll bar that’s easily removed. Windshield is cracked, fuel level gauge don’t work, and exhaust has a leak on the left bank. Engine and seats came out of a 67 Mustang. New crossflow radiator, thermostat, and belts. Runs and drives great. There is a little rust under the RF fender at the mounting bracket which could be repaired or replaced. Street legal and it has collector plates. Title in hand.”

“1965 CJ6 Willys Jeep. 52k documented miles, one family owned. The CJ6 was a California vehicle, no rust. Great survivor. Hurricane engine. Drives nice, new carb new ignition. All lights and electrical components work. This Jeep also has overdrive (6 spd) high and low. have 3 bins full of paperwork manuals and books, including the original bill of sale by grandma in 1965. Would be an easy restoration or drive as is. Best offer.”

“1953 Willys CJ3B. AZ owner for the last 22 years. 38,000 miles. New tires, brakes, you joints, shackles. We had the body completely sandblasted and primed,engine runs great, new clutch complete. Still needs to be re wired. We have all the original wiring and gauges. ( must be replaced) winch is original… also needs new windshield, we have the new gasket. Carb was redone by rods. New plugs and wires.”

All complete and not too rusty considering what most FCs look like.
Has a front bumper in the bed.
Comes with a brand new windshield.
Cab has a front bracket installed to allow cab to tilt forward.
6 cylinder hurricane engine.
This is a project vehicle that will need lots of work, but it’s a great start. I looked for years before I found this one and they are getting harder to find. This is a good solid runner and is mostly complete, including the 9 foot bed.

I bought this wood jeep on eBay. It’s solid wood with a good weight and some fun designs. One instription suggests this was made in India. A message on the bottom suggests this was purchased or completed on October 07, 1998, and was either for or from someone named Robin.
The Argus-Leader out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, published this photo on November 28, 1941, showing a Ford GP backing up Sioux Falls’ City Hall steps. It includes another “75mph” claim.
This August 07, 1941, article in the News-Herald out of Franklin, Pennsylvania, underscores that Harry S. Truman was going to “blow the lid” off the “lobbying” actives of the OPM as a result of American Bantam being “frozen out” of a jeep contract. Truman showed them, lol.

It sounds like this report and soldier had a very uncomfortable ride in the “roman rack”. I am a bit surprised that the jeep garnered so many laughs. Note the BRC-40 in the top pic. The article appeared in The Morning Call, out of Paterson, New Jersey, November 22, 1941.
