Looks to be a 2xxxx serial number. Doesn’t run.
“Nice Jeep, was running when parked but has not been used for several years. $2000.00 OBO’
Look solid.
“Refurbished from the frame up. Original flat 4 engine and body. This is a great winter project. With very little work that need to be completed. While it does not currently run. We did put s little gas in the carburetor and it fired right up. Has the title, but the serial numbers don’t match perfectly. This is common for these types of vehicles since this is the first civilian model, they were trying to use the supply of WWII parts.
Things still needed to be worked on:
1) wiring harness need hooked up
2) new tires
3) possibly a second seat
4) driving assembly needs connected.
That’s it. About 200 dollars of parts and labor you have an almost show room quality Willy’s ready to go. I am getting a divorce and it needs to go. That the only reason why I’m selling it.”
Terry’s got this VEC for sale.
“For sale as is, will restore for you or will build to your specs. 1946 Willys, CJ2A, S/N 29968. This is an early CJ2A and is one of the very rare first units that is equipped with the, still intact, column shift system. No restorative work has been done. The body and chassis are very solid with minimal rust. There is some body “character marks” that are repairable. Overall the body components are in good shape. The motor is seized. The transmission and transfer cases both shift. There have been some minor repairs, comparatively speaking, done to the front frame horns. The jeep is very complete with very few of the original parts missing. This is a great jeep for an accurate restoration. Please check out my FB page, Buege’s Classic Jeep & 4X4 to view some of my other projects. References are available. I look forward to answering your questions.”
Has square bolt heads on the windshield, indents, and a column shift. The VIN is supposed to be 17093, which is high for the square heads.
“1946 Willys Jeep CJ2A. First civilian Jeep Model. 4WD (Low and High) and 2WD. Three on the tree manual transmission. Flat-head four motor with all original parts with a 6V electrical system.
Does not run, motor is seized. The entire vehicle needs a TON of work. Would be a full restoration project with complete tear down and rebuild. Its been in storage in weather free storage for 12 years. Prior to that, it was barn stored. I entered ‘salvage’ condition above because there is not a “poor” option.
I’m taking offers with no certain price point in mind yet.”
Looks like a thoughtful restoration.
“I’m selling my restored 1946 Willys Jeep CJ-2A. The only reason I’m selling is to fund another purchase. It has had a frame off restoration back around 2006. This is a early production, matching numbers jeep, more desired by collectors. It even has the original serial numbered engine. Every last part was gone through and refurbished or replaced. It has been restored as original as possible down to the original body and wheel colors, 6 volt electrical system, and cloth covered wiring. The body was just repainted very recently. It has a show quality finish.
I have only put 4000 miles on the jeep since the restoration. It runs great and I wouldn’t be afraid to drive it anywhere.
I’m tired of people trying to scam me. I will not respond to text messages or email until you call and I know you are a real person. I do not have voice mail, but I will return your call if I miss it.”
Looks like the driver’s floor has been patched. Doesn’t have early rims.
“Nice and very rare early cj-2a column shift jeep. Has extremely rare military MB surplus frame under it. (Documented from factory as they used up left over military frames)
Still Has it’s original correct serial # engine also. Runs well.
Fitted is very desirable full PTO with belt drum pulley.
This is an easy restoration project with rust in hat channel under the passenger seat, and in toolbox. Needs brakes and a good going thru. Clear title..perfect data plates. Out of 25 year storage. Thanks.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1000.
This has full floating rear hubs, square bolt heads on the windshield, and other characteristics of a ’45 VEC. That front bumper mod sure is curious.
“1946 cj2a column shift with tool indents on driver side. Has f head that is stuck. Trans and transfer case move. Has rust in normal cj2a spots. Rolls good tires hold air. No hood. Good for parts jeep or off road project. Possible trade/part trade for 220 mig welder, hot rod stuff, pre 60s gas pumps, porcilian sighns ext. no title no vin tags. Sold with bill of sale only.”
This was a column shift (now floor shift) with the square bolt heads on the windshield. The rims look early as well. It could be worth a look.

Listed as a 1945 CJ-2A, it is more likely an early ’46.
“Great running and driving 1945 WWII era Willys Jeep CJ2A. Original Kaiser Supersonic flathead 4 cylinder and all original running gear. Owned by my US Army Veteran 86 year old dad. The lettering is vinyl, his old unit numbers etc. It received a major overhaul 20 or so years ago, wiring, brakes, shocks, all rubber hoses, brake lines etc, converted to 12 volts with alternator, 5 matching correct military tires. At the same time it got new rings and bearings, and valve job. Everything works as it should, high/low range, 4×4, lights, turn signals, horn, gauges etc. Dual gas tanks. New battery, fresh out of long storage. Paperwork is current. Clear title. Old paint, it’s a 20 footer. I have the top bows, not shown. Needs nothing. Oh, except wipers. And a new home.”
Still needs some work.

“This jeep is as original as I could keep it with required repairs and safety upgrades. It has the 134L Go-Devel engine and three speed gearbox/two lever transfer case and is set up to shift into low range while in 2WD if desired.
All lights except headlights are LED so it is not original, several other items
were also added/changed, such as power brake/vacuum assist hydrovat added,
rear fenders/flairs to keep from getting mud & rocks flung up the back of my
arm, custom gas tank (alum). seats came out of a 69 Ford van and were recently
repaired and recovered. No heater. manual wipers, windshield glass is from heavy
equipment stock cut to fit. Continue reading
