Roberto’s friend Mr. Paco, has run into some bureaucracy trying title his Jeep. I will let Roberto explain the details.
Let me introduce you the Willys CJ2A jeep owns by my friend mr. Paco, who lives at Valladolid, Spain. The jeep was found years ago at a farm (barn find!!!) and have belonged to an aristocratic dame, if I´m not wrong.
As you could see in the pics, it has a very curious extended body conversion with short hard-top and that´s the reason to ask your help. We would like to know if this kind of conversion could be done at the States as an extra ordered by the customer, or the institution which imported to Spain. Paco wants to get a tittle for his jeep as an historic vehicle and it seems that here, he needs to claim that this kind conversion was made at the factory. I mean, that this characteristic is “historical”. If not, he should modify again it to be a standard CJ2A jeep…Absurd, and illogical, as the guy who has pointed him this doesn´t care about the possibility of a local conversion made at Spain…isn´t would be this “historical” too? Burocracy, absurd and illogical burocracy…

I responded to Roberto writing that while I knew a small outfit in California created CJ-2Ls by expanding the middle of some CJ-2As, I was not aware of any aftermarket group nor any Willys option to have the bodies extended in the rear (despite plenty of examples of jeeps that have been extended in the rear). Does anyone else know anything different?
Here are some examples of jeeps extended at the back.

“1946 Willys Jeep CJ-2A. Runs great. Body rebuilt by the Sears Oil Company in Rome, New York using heavy gauge steel. Plow included and the all brakes work. It has been converted to 12 volt system. This Jeep was used by Rome Memorial Hospital in the 2012 Honor American Day Parade that is why is it painted on Military colors. I am asking $2000.00 and at that price I am breaking even on what I have into it so the price is firm.”
Not totally original, but not bad either. The jeep was appraised at $17k? The seller needs to ask for his money back on that appraisal.

Here’s a rare letter that advertises woodie kits from Station Wagons, Inc, for CJ-2A and MB/GPW models. This 2 page letter shows both a full and a half cab. Below the two page letter is an example of an ad that appeared in Popular Mechanics.
Popular Mechanics Ad from the January 1948 issue of Popular Mechanics, pg 266. This ad appeared in the February 1948 issue as well. I haven’t done a full accounting to determine how many other issues had the ad.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $350.
“Myers Half Cab in excellent condition with no dings or dents. It has been wet sanded and is ready for paint or polishing. It came off of a CJ3b, but should fit some earlier models as well. Asking $350.00”
This runs and drives with an operating trencher and sports duallies.
“1958 CJ 5 Willys Jeep with a trencher attachment that was factory made for jeeps back before the industry started making trenchers for smaller jobs.
Back then it was either a shovel and pick or large diggers. This trencher fit the bill for the smaller jobs.
This unit is in complete working order and runs great. The odometer reads 4400 miles and I believe it.
The Huricane-4 motor runs smooth and does not smoke.
Also has duals on the back that are made for jeep and never seen one of these with a cab.
Price is OBO at $6500.00 Please only serouis inquirers. 314-952-two nine 61”
UPDATE: **SOLD*** Was $1900
(07/15/2012) I believe this runs? It also has a bed extender. While it looks like it is missing the tailgate, Leo noted that tailgate is still there, just under the extender.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1300.
The seller lists this as a 2A, but looks to me to be a 3A. This looks like an excellent project for the price.
“I have a 1949 Willys Jeep available for sale. It runs, but the fuel pump needs to be rebuilt (we were able to confirm that the engine is good by delivering gas straight into the carburetor). It also currently does not have brakes, although I have a brand new master cylinder and brand new wheel cylinders to go with it–these parts just need to be installed. It comes with a snowplow, but the hydraulic system for it needs to be overhauled. My grandfather found the Jeep in a salvage yard a number of years back and brought it back to life so that he could use it to haul wood around on our family farm. However, he passed away several years ago and the Jeep hasn’t been used much since then. This is a good project Jeep–everything is there; it just needs some work to get it back into good condition, and we don’t have the time to put into it. We will be demolishing the farmhouse and garage where it is currently being stored, so we’re forced to get rid of it. Other issues I can see with the vehicle: the windshield is cracked, the cooling system probably needs to be flushed, and the interior needs reupholstering.”
UPDATE: Was $500. **SOLD**
(06/26/2012) It sounds like the floor needs work.

This doesn’t run, but appears pretty solid and utilitarian.
“We bought this Willys thinking we get around to restoring it… Well here we are and my bosses idea of restoration is “sell it, I’m too busy. Does not run, looks to be complete, clean title, great project car.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $2300.
(06/12/2012) For the price, it looks like a solid runabout jeep.

UPDATE: This sold quickly.
The front frame rails have been heavily reinforced. You gotta love that ‘hardtop’. Despite this, I think there’s some value

Steve notes that this still has the column shift mechanics, though it also has a floor shift.
“This is a 1946 Willys CJ2A that I bought from a customer of mine. Her husband bought it brand new and I have only driven it to town a few times. The gears are good and tight. It starts just fine on the 6 volt system. The Heater still works and I think they are kind of rare. When I bought the jeep She said that it had not been started for over ten years. After inspection I found thick oil in the oil pan so I removed the pan and cleaned out the old oil before trying to start the engine. At this time I took pictures of the cylinders for inspection. Two of the cylinders have marks where the rings sat over the years. The cylinders will at sometime need to be honed out to remove the small ridges which you can see in the pictures. After I had the carburator cleaned and we were able to start the engine the water pump had to be replaced with a new one and I put a new belt on at that time.
I have driven the jeep around while hunting and totally had a great time. It is like going back in time and looking at the scenery a little longer because you are traveling a little slower.”
There’s some value here.
