(11/18/09) The Vin number would make this produced in 1948. This looks like a nice rebuilt.
“ I am selling my CJ2A. This has been recently restored. Body was removed and repainted. Color is maroon. Black undercoat on the body to help prevent rust. Restoration did not include mechanical. Vehicle had a partial 12V conversion when I got it. It now has all new wiring. All lights work. Added turn signals and brake lights. Horn works. Starter is 12V. It uses a borg warner 6V coil; but could easily be changed to 12V coil. Jeep would be street legal if you add the windshield; the seals for the windshield are included in sale. It didn’t need the motor or drivetrain rebuilt. Although I did paint the engine and rebuild the carburator. New gauges except for speedo.”

(10/26/09) I’m guessing it’s a CJ-3A, however the body appears to have a solid back, so it might be a DJ-3A body? The seller has included a long description.
“This is a 1940 or early 50’s Jeep Willys. I’m not sure because this jeep is registered as a 1967 due to the year of the motor. The motor is a Chevy 283 V8 from a 67’ Chevelle. This Jeep is full of goodies and will always be smog exempt ”
Here’s a fine looking CJ-5.
“1956 CJ5 set up with 350 v-8 chevrolet engine steel crank camel hump heads 4 bbl carb runs awesome less than 6,500 miles on it turbo 400 automatic transmision 2yrs old. newer front bucket seats custom rear seat. Has enough room for the family. Sits on new super lift springs with new shocks and spring shackles inside of tub is lined. Curently sitting on 31×10.50×15 tires BFG all terrains with at least 90% tread on them body is straight has some scratches and nicks in it windsheild is cracked as well. Keep in mind I use it as a Jeep it goes ooff road and it does it well the kids love it it is not perfect anymore but in good shape just looking to do something different. “1948 Willys CJ2A runs drives and stops. New brakes and lines 5 years ago; aftermarket steel tub, hood and tailgate, no rust on the body, original windshield. I do not know the mileage but have a clear Wisconsin title for it. I think it is an MB frame. I have used it as a toy on my farmette near Monroe, Wi. It starts up every spring but I just use it to drive locally. The tires are new, non directional with less than 100 miles on them. The pics were taken before the new tires. I bought it from a guy in northern Wi who painted it with a brush but it looks pretty good anyway. I have a new steering wheel and correct passenger seat frame for it, just not installed. Don’t need to sell but also don’t need the toy”

“1945 Willys 1/4T reconnaissance truck, JEEP, delivered to the military 3-7-45 and recently completed a tub-off restoration. All restoration work correct to original specs with primarilly original NOS parts and professional rebuilds of the motor, drivetrain, axles, diffs, tranny and TC. Era correct top quality canvas and rubber throughout and every detail of the restoration process was documented in scores of digital pics. Over $14000 in parts and services alone with receipts available. This Willys is a classic example of a combat jeep in the ETO circa. early ’45. ”

Dave spotted this wagon. It looks like a pretty good updated build. My question is, why not move the wagon so you don’t have a chain link fence covering half the pic?
“Excellent running jeep Use as is for a solid 4×4 or put some more effort into the interior and paint for something extra special. Hand built boxed and doubled frame( no more frame flex and broken body mounts. extra capacity fuel tank (25 gal) in original position. set up with tow bar for flat towing. 37×12.5-17 bfg AT<s on Mickey Thomson Classic II wheels. front axel= Dana 44 3/4 ton 4.10. rear = Dana 44 4.10. saginaw 77 steering box with new seals. hydroboost brake booster. NP 205 transfer case. TH350 trans, rebuilt with B&M kit. 1994 chev 350 runs exellent. Edelbrock 4 Barrel carb and manifold. MSD 6a ignition. Painless wiring kit. VDO guages, 85 mph speedo,tach,volt,fuel,oil,temp,( also included vacum and trans temp).”
This was rebuilt with an aluminum body.

This looks good, though it has a broken passenger-side axle.
“90% finished ground up restoration. Including: gear inspection, complete emroned frame axles and running gear, new tires, rebuilt engine and transmission with aproximately 1500 miles on them, tub pan replaced with diamond plate, all wood supports removed and replaced with steel chanel, rubberized undercarriage, all new guages, fuel and oil systems upgrade, oversized radiator, saginov steering, clean wiring, custom bench seat, brand new Bestop soft top, and many many oem replacements throughout. Sweetest running willys around, super billit build, must see to appreciate.
Whats left/wrong: Needs paint, has some rust on tail gate and windshield frame (planned on getting new ones) rest of body is rust free, and done right, guages need to be put in dash, mirrors, and wipers need to be installed
The issue: I was playing with it on the coast and broke the passenger side rear axle shaft recently, and have decided I dont have the time or ability to repair the axle. This is a super common break with lots of online info, and replacement axle shafts are 80 bucks. I have put over 10 grand into this jeep over the past 8 years, and Im letting it go for 2500! Must see to appreciate, and MUST sell.”

“1950 Willy’s CJ3A. 305 Chevy motor, Turbo 350 transmission with Warn overdrive, 8000 lb winch, full roll cage, power steering, brake booster, complete new body, no rust at all. Has the parabolic mono leaf springs which give added spring travel over stock springs. As close to coil springs as you can get so have fun in the hills. Runs and drives great. Go down the road at 70 miles per hour with the overdrive or put it in 4 low and the 538 grears will take you anywhere you need to go. I thought this customized in some interesting ways, so I thought I’d include it. I’m not sure which part of this is a 1948.

“1963 WILLYS FC170 4X4 DUMP STAKE BED. THE FC HAS A SOLID FRAME NO PATCHES. BODY IS SOLID ALSO WITH NO PATCHES. THE DUMP BED AND TOOL BOXES ARE POWDER COATED. THE STAKES ARE TREATED LUMBER. THERE ARE TWO PERMANENTLY MOUNTED OVER THE BED TIE DOWN STRAPS ON THE RIGHT SIDE. THE ENGINE IS A L6 226 SIX CYLINDER. IT DOES NOT BURN OIL. IT STARTS RIGHT UP AND RUNS WELL. THE GVW OF THE UNIT IS 7000 LB. I HAVE INSTALLED A NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM. ALSO INSTALLED WARN LOCK-OUT-HUBS. THE US FOREST SERVICE DECALS ARE MAGNETIC AND COME OFF EASILY. ‘1947 Willys CJ2A, 302 V8, C4 Automatic Transmission, 2″ lift, Warn Overdrive, ProBillit Dist, B&M Shifter, GM Alternator (new) 3wire, New Paint / bushings, Lined interior, New VDO Gauges, Painless Wiring (new), Custom Fuel Cell, Custom Bumpers, Battery Cell, LED Lights, New Tires and wheels. This has been a fun vehicle but it is time to move to the next project. When I started with this vehicle, it was nice… I just couldn’t leave it alone. We pulled the body, blasted it to the metal, and filled/welded all of the holes and removed any rust. I replaced the front fenders with new, built and installed a fuel cell, added new glass and rubber, shocks (rancho), tires, wheels, paint, wiring, powdercoating, etc. On and on and on. “We have a ’59 Jeep Wagon we would like to sell. This vehicle has less than 60K original miles. It is only used in the summer, when cabin is accessible, and is garaged all winter. We are trying to decide to sell vehicle up there, or haul it to the Bay Area and try to sell it for more. Vehicle has a clear title and has always been registered in CA. It is equipped with 6 cyl. flathead engine. It has been used for short 4-wheel trips in the area. the body is no cherry, NO major rust, just scrapes from hidden boulders, one rear fender dented pretty good, also has a couple broken windows, (glass is broken, not broken out, make sense?). Interior is in real good shape for its age. Vehicle is road worthy, however I would recommend trailering long distances. Has top speed of about 55-60 mph.
