Chris spotted this refurbed CJ-5. It has a fiberglass tub and tilt front clip and a Kelly top in good condition.

“I am selling my 1963 willys plow jeep to make room for another project. This is a body off restoration with rebuilt 6′ western snow plow. It has a new 12 volt electric over hydraulic bucher power unit with new hoses and cylinders. Has left and right swing up and down. rebuilt L 134 engine /has t 90 trans dana 18 trans case stock axles all new seals. Has rust free kellys hard top with good glass and new seals has a rebuilt stock heater core . All new leaf springs/ shocks/ wire harness /radiator/gas tank/gauges/ and many other new parts to many to list the tub and front end are all fiber glass . Ted shared this eBay auction. It’s a beautiful jeep. It is missing the bow holders on the driver’s side and the spare tire mounted on the passenger side, but those are minor quibbles.

“This Willys is a Cj2a that has been completely restored from ground up.With the motor being all standard it has not been run much. I Ordered a new steel body mostly for the rust issues under the tool box and hat channel.By the time I replaced the channel and floor I was getting up in labor and cost.

I completely disassembled it and started with the frame and worked my way up. The list that follows of new parts installed to make it drive on the highway and be safe to operate. I upgraded the brakes, from 9″ to 11″” self adjusting; And new dual master cylinder. Converted it to a single wire Alternator to get the 12v needed for modern lights and all new cloth wiring.Rebuilt the steering box with new sector shaft, and the jeep does not wander going down the road. All steering is tight.I replaced most all the bolts.The list of parts is long and I did not cut corners on the restore.

(04/26/2016) “1952 Willys Jeep/ M38A1 (former Military/early CJ) converted to Brush Fire pumper somewhere along the way. I don’t have much history on this vehicle. But, Drives great, pump disconnected for now, but does work. New Paint 2 years ago. (NOTE; PHOTOS SHOW FORMER UPPER HOSE TRAY, HOSE REEL AND TANK WHICH HAVE BEEN REMOVED AND SCRAPPED, REPLACED WITH SECOND SEAT IN REAR WITH MATCHING FRONT SEAT UPHOLSTERY) Now a GREAT truck for parades with the family or cruising the hills of California, or wherever. Fits in any garage!

Other details; Original 4 cyl Willys engine, transmission (3spd) high/ low range, 4 WD (though I’ve never locked front axles, all instruments work along with all electrical working.

History; I’m about the 3rd owner, purchased about 10 years ago from FF in CT. who purchased it from person in PA. As mentioned, definitely a former military M38A1 that was retrofitted as a fire pumper. Some base yellow paint on frame may point to it serving on air base or carrier? No other history known.”

Looks in good shape. It might be the photo lighting, but the area around the driver side drain hole doesn’t appear smooth.

“This 1945 Army Jeep with Willys trailer was meticulously restored by my uncle Erv.

From what I remember, he did a ground up restoration in the 1990’s and paid attention to detail. I do know he added and electric fuel pump a few years ago.

Erv was a mechanic in the army in the late 1950’s and always love military vehicles, this jeep was his pride and joy. I don’t think he ever missed a Memorial Day & Fourth of July day parade with it.
