Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. The seller notes the paint job fits the jeeps name “Yolanda” (apparently, it is a long story … lol)
“1962 Willys Jeep. Starts and runs as-is. Recent work includes new clutch, rebuilt carburetor, new mud grip tires on five original wheels that have been sandblasted, primed and painted. New seat frames have been fabricated, one additional passenger seat frame included. Good compressions on all cylinders. Transfer case shift mechanism is tight and hard to shift; needs work. Includes original front bumper wench. Windshield and spare tire rack included (not shown) I rate this Jeep as a good restoration candidate; I just don’t have the time or motivation to rebuild it. Custom paint suits her name “Yolonda” (it’s a long story). She needs a good home and significant TLC.”

(05/11/2010) Here’s a nice looking CJ-3A.
“1950 Willys CJ-3A 4×4. Original L4-134 Engine – rebuilt – very low mileage on rebuild. Takes regular unleaded fuel. 3 speed transmission. New/rebuilt steering components and E-brake. New tires, battery, alternator, fuel pump, fuel gauge, fuel sending unit, and voltage meter. Best Top “Tiger Top” soft top. Lots of love and care put into this vehicle. Good overall condition and runs good on or off road. A must see! Approximately $11,000.00 invested into restoring this vehicle.”
Bob forwarded me a pic of a CJ-2A from the Malabar Farm Historic Landmark in the Ohio State Park System for the museum series.
Bob wrote, “Here’s a shot of the Jeep they have down at Malabar Farm near Mansfield, Ohio. Every Sept there is a small gathering of Jeeps there. Louis Bromfield, the property’s former owner, had several Jeeps on the farm during his lifetime. He used them to get around the farm, along with his dog, to supervise farm operations. As a side note, Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall were married in the main house on the farm on May 21, 1945.”

This is a nice looking Wagon. There are a few very minor issues with it.
“I bought this all original wagon in 2004 from wagonmaster.com about five years ago. When I bought the wagon it was advertised as having a “freshly rebuilt Hurricane 6 engine” and I am the third owner.
It is a very fun and wonderful wagon. The color combination of gold (khaki) and president red (an original Willy’s color) are a stunning combination. I get comments on it all of the time. The other day I drove it to work (four miles from my house) and I got two thumbs up on the freeway and a “shout out” from a young lady who professed love for my Willy’s! This happens all of the time.
I will, occasionally, rent my cars out for advertising photo shoots. This past fall Lands End used my wagon for the cover page of their nationally distributed Christmas catalog. I am told Lands End received a lot of inquiries about the Willy’s itself and if it was for sale….”

“1954 Willys 4×4 Station Wagon. All original except conversion to 12-volt, and electric fuel pump. 6 cylinder L-226 Super-Hurricane engine. T-90 transmission. Warn overdrive. Engine, transmission, and overdrive have all been rebuilt. Clean inside and out. Original oak floor strips. Some rust over rear wheel wells. Can send additional pictures. $6000 obo. NEW PAINT, CLOTH OEM WIRING HARNESS, 8 VOLT BATTERY WITH ORIGINAL 6 VOLT SYSTEM, ALL NEW BRAKES, RECONDITIONED RADIATOR AND FUEL TANK. It doesn’t look too bad for the price.

(04/17/2010) For a restored slat grille, this doesn’t seem like all that bad of price.
“1942 Willys Slat Grill MB, Slat Grill Frame and Grill with Composite Body, T-90 Transmission, CJ style Wheels with all new tires, Original Data Plates, This jeep has been modified over the years to accomodate better driving performance. The jeep starts, drives and brakes comfortably. Is a good dependable parade driver, hunting and or ranch jeep. ”

The engine turns over, but it sounds like it doesn’t run. It appears solid.

That is an unusual F-head engine hood modification. The Willys-Overland hard top looks great. I don’t think the grille looks original (the parking lights appear to be a later model). The overdrive isn’t original either, as it hadn’t been developed as of 1946.
“Offered for auction is a classic 1946 Jeep. This jeep has been family owned since new. It is so old the VIN # is 65111. It is all original except for the installation for an up graded F-Head engine in the early 1950’s. The hood scoop was added to allow for the room needed. It has “dual-matic” front hubs and a Warn 20% reduction overdrive all standard. This rare old jeep also has the original metal top and a heavy duty (tropic) radiator. The tires are new. This jeep runs perfectly. It is ready for restoration or modification. It is a great example of solid steel construction from 1946. A true American Classic. “Beautiful 1965 Jeep Gladiator, 350 Buick eng. Automatic trans. A real pleasure to drive, certainly turns heads wherever it goes. It is a 4×4 but never goes off road! Power steering, manual hubs, truck is always garaged and rarely even driven. Needs a few finishing touches to make it perfect but is fine the way it sits! Hate to sell it but could really use the room in my shop right now. Please email with questions and I’ll try and answer them the best I can, if you would like more pictures let me know and I’ll send them off. The truck has a California title at the present time. I can have the truck shipped anywhere or will work with your shipper on my end.”

(06/19/2010) This appears in good shape. I don’t see any indication that it has a soft top (no buttons along the side). It appears the data plate is missing or just not installed.
“This is a 1948 jeep that has had a bunch of money put in it in the last few months, it has new brakes, tires, seats, paint ,starter,water pump. on and on, the engine runs great, mechanically it is sound, the body is rough, but the paint is shiney and will stay put”
The price is right.
“I have for sale my ’67 CJ-5. Has 71,XXX miles. Original drivetrain including 134 4 cyl ‘Hurricane’ engine, 3 speed tranny, and twin stick transfer case. I changed all the fluids last summer and have not driven it much since. Comes with a hard top and doors, but it is missing some glass. Does not come with pictured tires.
